Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

We do need a updated Jasper picture :dog:Exciting time, for your DS, Pea! :)

Extra :grouphug: and thank you to all of you this evening. Last year on April 7th, was my last time (other than to the dentist) out. Prayers daily of course for an end to the pandemic and loss and pain from it most of all! I also hold out much hope that by this time next year the mask mandate here in LA will be no longer needed. All of your friendship and care this last year means even extra to me today.

Sweet dreams, friends.

Good morning ! Very mild outside overnite , temps in upper 50's Going into the 70's again, with a slight chance of rain. I am hoping for the rain, as I do not feel up to doing outside work again. Once you mow the grass,,it's like it's saying 'yep..I am just going to grow again in 4 days and need to be cut again', and it does. I know all of you who do your own yardwork probably feel the same. I just swear that as I get older, it feels like the lawn gets bigger and bigger every year, lol!

It will be back to Walmart today to return the string trimmer, Ollies for some new bath and kitchen rugs, and hubby's second vaccine. Hospital has it so smoothly run now that we should be in and out of there in 30 min.

Then it will be home to do either more yard work, or more inside Spring cleaning, hard to keep up with both of them at the same time!

Have a lovely morning all!!

Good morning.

Unacceptable, last post on page 1.

DH didn't want to mow yesterday for this very reason. I wanted the front near the house mowed so I could split and plant the hosta. He did ride the slope, which I can't (or won't) do. We have one of the less putting green like lawns in the neighborhood because we refuse to use chemicals. Some of our neighbors are very particular. I found out he had a contest with a former neighbor to be the last to start mowing. He still feels that way. :rotfl2:

Not much planned today. Just little chores. Maybe a trip to Five Below.

We don't use chemicals either so ours doesn't look like a putting green. Guy 2 doors over has his lawn guy mow it so short, it could be a golf course. Why bother..and then pay $40 a week to have it kept that short? Not me!
Home from second vaccine. Noone parking people today, and they had about 24 spots blocked with cones, so everyone was circling looking for parking places. Groups of 9 went in and got shots, waited 15 min and then you just left.
Off to Walmart and Ollies now..71 degrees already!

Morning all. Seems like a nice day although I haven't ventured out yet.

Not much on my agenda today. Just laundry and food distribution at church for a bit. Slowly cleaning out the Dining Room in preparation for painting and new floors but try to do that over the weekend since trash day is Tuesday. I am amazed at how much I am able to let go of things. I donated at least 5 boxes from the kitchen. We have a Green Drop here that is so easy. Drive up, unload the car and pick the charity of choice and you are on your way. I have one box so far.

@lynxstch is Ollies worth going to? We have one not that far away and my husband always liked them when he went to Western PA but he just bought home tons of Penn State junk.

Thanks everyone for the complements on the pictures. LJ is definitely getting big. And I may be prejudiced but I do think I have some pretty cute grandkids. My grandson called last night to tell me a cute story about LJ. They were watching Hockey, Baseball and Basketball the other night. LJ was sleeping nearby. Evidently he woke up just as the Flyers scored in overtime. My grandson and his wife both raised their hands up in celebration. LJ smiled and did the same thing. Of course my grandson is convinced he did it on purpose. The baby will have no choice but to be a sports fan in this family.

Have a good day.

Page 2, not allowed ever!

I've never heard of Ollie's so I Googled. It looks like an all-around item discount store that would be fun to browse in :)

I hope all of you are having a good afternoon and that you AuntieMe3 and Bingo, are having a good morning. It's just 10:01am for us LA Quackers :)

Hi--Ollies is good when they have sales. I always get my landscape fabric there,,a lot cheaper than Walmart or Lowes (we don't have a lot of choice in places to shop here). I got my Shark Vacuum there, my Bissell Pro Pet Carpet Shampooer there, we have always gotten our air conditioners there (not anymore,,since we have a new HVAC system this year,,whoo hoo). They have a good selection of books all the time, and a lot of sheets, blankets, rugs etc. They always have good prices on candy too!

LOL at LJ smiling and raising his arms like his parents did when Flyers scored..too cute!

Missed you gals and guys ( do we have any ?)
I couldn’t find my password after the day it was down, found my old notebook
this week has been my spring break from the school where i work
SUNDAY (Easter) - my MIL cooked for 12 people, 9 are vaccinated, 2 were kids, so we felt good. Nice to eat a normal meal around her dining table
MONDAY- cleaned out my closet, dresser, Rubbermaid bins and came up with 103 items of clothing to donate !! Clearly , i have kept things for 12+ years that don;t fit or are faded, etc
TUESDAY - took son to orthodontist apt, then went to Hobby lobby with a friend to find a table runner and candles for my new dining table arriving Friday. , it was ordered on Dec. 31st
WEDNESDAY - beautiful here in the 70s. ( will be 40 by next week I’m sure). So went to a yoga class with a friend and then met another friend for a walk at the park. So so nice to catchup with girlfriends I’ve only really texted since the fall.
THURSDAY - have spent 3+ hours on the desktop computer filling out summer camp forms for the kids, looking for a part time job for the summer, warranties , etc, etc

hostas - love them, have 12 of them throughout my landscaping, they add a nice background
i also have replanted daisies all over my yard. I just planted some cosmos from a seed packet, and then took dried Zinnias from last year and sprinkled their seeds into come containers. We‘ll see if they sprout and i can plant outdooors in June.

cake - have you ever had an ANything bundt cake ? My SIL got one for dessert for Easter, it was carrot cake with just a little cream cheese icing. Yumm
happy to be back and chatting with all of you, do something nice for yourself tonight....read a book, make hot cocoa, or eat a scoop of ice cream

Glad to see you back @sparkle78..wondered where you disappeared to!

I spread 240 lbs of manure and compost, 20 lbs of lime, and 15 lbs of fertilizer in the garden. All I need now is the rain they are promising for this evening..and possible tomorrow thru Sunday. Hubby wants ham (again) and scalloped potatoes and peas for dinner..that's too much for me. I will just make a chicken salad sandwich or have it over a green salad
Oldest stepson just called from the airport in Georgia. He's on his way to Paris, then on to Moscow. His wife has been there since Feb 2019. She is from there,,and is a Russian translator for some place in Washington DC. She went home to get dental work done. But it took 3 weeks to make whatever it was she was having done,,and by that time Russia was in lockdown. She's been living with her Mother and Grandmother all this time. She was going to fly home with Ben (stepson), but her work is still not sending anyone anywhere, her apt in DC doesn't have wifi, so she said there's no point in coming home yet. They have a 'non traditional' marriage for sure. He married her for her to get her green card to come to the USA. And fell in love with her..her for him, not so much. But it works for them..so to each their own.
I just hope he has safe flights. He got his second vaccine Saturday..had to have a covid test at the airport..they said they will text/email him the results? And he has to take another one in Paris, and then in Moscow. Hope it's all worth the trouble!

Have a great evening everyone..I wish we could have this perfect weather day every day of the year!

Good evening everyone! Well, in the UK it is, hehe.

I wanted to enter the virtual Disney Run this year, registration today, but it's only for people with a US address *cries*

We've just watched the movie "Lion". True story about a boy in India who gets lost, ends up with adoptive parents in Australia and then he tries to find his family back in India.
I love true story based movies. I then like reading about it, the actual real story and such.

We might end up watching another British bake-off episode, I've seen 2 series so far (the adults from 2020 and the kids from 2019) and I've not been impressed so far with how things go, pfff, lol. Hoping the season we're watching now will be better, hehe.

Have a good evening/day all ^^

Welcome back, Sparkle :) That's wonderful you were able to enjoy an Easter meal with family!

I also hope your stepson has safe flights, Lynn. Glad the relationship works for them. It would not be for me either.

That movie sounds interesting, Moorhunhe.

I hope all of you are having a good afternoon. All is quiet here. As an update or sadly lack of one, nothing has been announced yet in terms of a moving forward plan for my church. Thank you all for your prayers.

Never made it to Five Below but got what I wanted elsewhere. DH and I went out to multiple stores with a list. First, Rite Aid, but they didn't have what I wanted. Next Tractor Supply for a squirrel proof feeder, bird seed, and corn cobs for the squirrel feeder. After that, Staples where DH was looking at a Quicken program and I bought an electric pencil sharpener to replace the one that stopped working. There was a Rite Aid in this strip shopping center so got what I was looking for, plus 3 play balls that I had thought I was going to Five Below for, and 1/2 price Easter candy to put in plastic eggs for egg hunt for DGD this weekend. Last, Lowes where DH was looking at fence rails but we ended up buying three small azaleas that we half off because they were done blooming for this year. They had enough blooms I could see the color though.

We have an Ollies in Elkton that opened since the pandemic so I have never been there. I went to one in Aberdeen once and was unimpressed. I think you have to hit it right. Sort of like Big Lots, if you have them.

Welcome back @sparkle78.

@lynxstch, that does sound like a different marriage but if it works for them. But wow, being stuck in Russia for all this time.

Better start dinner. Salad and spaghetti.

Booked three nights at the Refuge Inn in Chincoteague, VA at the end of April. We had this booked last year and, of course, it was cancelled. It will be nice to do an outing.
That looks like a lovely place to stay. I've always wanted to see the ponies ever since I read Misty of Chincoteague when I was in elementary school. I believe I read every book by Marguarite Henry back then.

They are a staple around here. You can't hardly go to any kind of party without an Nothing Bundt Cake. My favorite is lemon and carrot cake.

I googled Ollies and I have one about 13 miles from me. Have a Big Lots about the same distance. I go there every couple of years but I never find anything that I want. Same with 5 and below. Oh well.........

DD is doing better, she is driving now. Appointment with the doctor tomorrow and back to work on Monday. The kids have been a little crazy this week. We thought that it was because she was home but she has heard that her students have been crazy too. So it must be something in the air.

Planted my tomato plants the other night. The wind has been blowing like crazy drying everything out. So, of course, I have been watering like crazy too. We're expecting rain tomorrow, 40% chance, so I'm hoping that we're in that 40%.

I went into a couple Five Belows but never did get anything. I'm glad you got a candy deal at Rite Aid, Carol. We have Big Lots out here. Years ago on one street all on the same side even so very handy was a bigger 99 cent only store, Dollar Tree and Staples within the same parking lot and Big Lots and Kmart also in the same lot. I miss Kmart (long out of business) most of all but did get some good things at Big Lots. Dad went to a different Big Lots once last year and said they really didn't have much of anything.

So glad your DD is feeling better, Kirby. Prayers the wind will stay calm tonight out there.
Love how you said that, Easyas! Cake is a tasty treat indeed:cake:

Kirby, lucky you that it’s tomato planting time! We have to wait.

Breezy Carol...have a wonderful time! I took youngest son to Chincoteague to see the ponies in ‘88. We went to Assateague too!

We do have lawn company and they came today for a treatment.

We are on our way to Philadelphia, to spend the night before our flight to Houston tomorrow morning. We haven’t seen family since October 2019. Our DGS’s 9 and 7 have baseball games. We’ve usually traveled for at least one weekend’s worth of games every spring. Can’t wait to see just how much they’ve changed, and to give and get hugs!
