🐣 QUACK!

Hugs, @AuntieMe3, I’m so glad to hear things are going pretty well with Bingo! I can relate to how hard things get with having a dog sick as well as a parent at the same time. Ugh. Prayers for your Mom. @Snowysmom glad to hear Jasper has a little spring in his step! I had another disappointment on the dog adoption front. Had applied for a dog I thought would be perfect for us, but someone applied ahead of us. We would’ve loved to go get the dog on Saturday but the other family couldn’t meet the dog until Monday, so we had to wait. Got the call on Monday that they were coming that afternoon, and that we’d only hear back if they weren’t taking the dog. Never heard back. So looking at another, but I doubt this will work out, either, due to their rules about distance. A good friend says the right dog hasn’t come along for us yet. It’s been a long time, though, that we’ve been applying. I am sad about this last one. (And still sad about the one we lost from Asia.) Thankfully my little Toto is a very good buddy.

@easyas123, Sorry to hear you’re having a tough time. The cake reference did crack me up though! Cake for dinner? Why the heck not! 🤣 I hope you were able to get out for some fresh air! (How are things going with the bathrooms? šŸ˜… ) I also was saddened by the video of that poor young boy who was left alone during the night by some unscrupulous people, as well as the video of others dropping the two little girls over the fence at night. I showed it to DS and we talked about it. So many stories in the news cause me to feel sad. Sometimes I don’t even want to read it, but I do. These attacks on innocent people and robberies and such and random violence, it’s just awful. Another story that got to me was the lady and her dog who were randomly stabbed by someone. I am also reading that people are stealing dogs to sell. Ugh.

@Breezy_Carol, that must be super hard for your SIL losing her husband and her mother within a year of eachother. Keeping her in my prayers. We have a ceremony coming up to inter my FIL’s ashes in the gravesite at the cemetery soon. It was put off due to Covid and winter.

@Kirby, super funny about planting the jelly beans and ā€œgrowingā€ Tootsie Pops! I will have to remember that when I (hopefully) have grandchildren some day! (I love Tootsie Pops and usually keep some on hand in the TV room. I especially love the peppermint ones at Christmastime!)

We had a nice Easter. Quiet. We celebrated Monday since DD was working on Sunday. It was weird because DS’s gf only had ten mins to eat by the time dinner was done because she had a Zoom class in the evening, and DD was sleeping after a night shift but had a dentist appt mid-day she had to get up for, then went back to bed, so she didn’t get up until later. (She had two wisdom teeth out about a week ago and one has still been really bothering her.) But the meal was tasty - a small ham from Aldi’s which was really good, roasted potatoes, butternut squash, and string beans (that I burnt a bit trying to steam - we doctored the survivors up with garlic butter and cranberries). DS’s girlfriend made a lemon cake that was really good, I got a picture of it. I said I wasn’t going to eat any more cake after Monday but I did have some again today! Lol. I didn’t eat any candy even though DS gave me some. (Ugh, a Hershey chocolate bunny which looks so good, but I had requested no candy.) He also bought me a nice pullover from a vacation area he visited recently which I liked a lot, and wore. DD gave me a Dunkin gift card which will go to great use on my way to work. On Sunday DH and I were in the yard most of the day and it was so nice to feel the sun on my face! Also getting our garden ready and tidying up after the winter. We are also getting ready to paint the house hopefully. (We just do the front; the back and sides are left natural.) And I did start cleaning out my bedroom I’m just going to do a little at a time. I have a lot of books, papers, and clothes to go through. But even just doing a couple of hours’ worth today felt good. I thought I’d have a lot of books to donate, but I didn’t have even one!! šŸ¤“ Moved them instead downstairs to our family room where we have a lot of bookshelves. I’m bad...

Well, sideways even though I cropped it. Things are funky around here still, I guess! I did miss you all, too, when the Boards were down!

Good morning..I see that @Pea-n-Me was up and on even earlier than I usually am, lol! Glad to see you had a nice weekend!

Going to be 66 today,,it was almost too hot yesterday at 82! Will be air conditioner time before too long. Hubby has a low dose CAT scan today, then I will be going grocery shopping. He has his second vaccine tomorrow, so hopefully won't have some of the side effects others have had. Sister in law is still complaining her arm is sore and the shot spot is red, and that was more than 2 weeks ago!

Weatherman earlier was so wrong...now it says we will be 82 again today. But a little cloudy. Maybe rain the next 3 days, so glad I got done what yard work needed to be done. But the darn grass almost needs mowing again :(

Off to take the trash down to the street, and get my shower before hubby gets up. He was all stuffed up during the night,,seems anytime I open windows lately, he gets that way, must be from stuff blooming outside

Have a great day all!

Morning.

Just popping in to say hey. ((hugs)) to those who need them.

DS17 got his first vax yesterday; he has zero reaction, other than a sore arm and a bit tired. The tired could be from him staying up all hours to play video games, lol. DD#2 gets her first vax later this week. DS and I got the Pfizer; DH got the Moderna and that kicked his behind, so I'm glad we didn't get it.

Not much else to report. DGS#2 turned 5 last week; for his party, they had a couple of his school friends go bowling with him (masks on the whole time, except when they sat and ate pizza and cupcakes; lots of hand sanitizer and washing). We got to videochat and watch him open the gifts from us.

Allergies are kicking my behind. I didn't take allergy meds for a week, because of getting the vax...(3 days before, and 3 days after, just so no symptoms would be hidden) so have to rebuild my system. My car and porch are solid yellow with pollen. Add in the yard guys cutting off branches on trees, hard trimming bushes, cutting the grass multiple times a week, mulching (ugh, why must they use cedar) and I have a sinus headache from heck. Was up at 4am, and couldn't go back to sleep; maybe I'll take a nap after lunch.

Trying to get the energy up to go clean the bathroom, shower, and take out the trash. Making Zatarain's red beans and rice, with some Soberdough cornbread & ale, for lunch today. Might make some cupcakes or oatmeal cookies w/cinnamon chips, if I get the urge.

Good morning.

Hoping to do some yard work today. Going to try to split my Hosta plants. Need to mow near the house. I haven't used the push mower in 20-30 years but DH isn't ready to start mowing and its bugging me. He'll have to start it for me because I can't do the pull cord. I can do the riding.

Remember how in January we had the backyard dug up to replace the septic system? Unfortunately, our across the street neighbors have the back hoe in their front yard today for the same problem. We were the first house in the neighborhood and I think the excavator business will be here often.

Making Zatarain's red beans and rice,
I like their red beans and rice. We often have it with steamed shrimp but I don't add the meat to it.

Good morning all.

Bit gray here today. We are supposed to get rain and my daughter is really hoping we do. All 3 boys have games/practice at the same time at different fields. I do not miss those days.

I am hoping some pics from the Easter Bunny will show up as I didn't use my phone, just my camera for pictures and the files tend to be to large.

The only one who cooperated was LJ. It was a fun afternoon though and was really nice of my grandson's mother to organize it.

I am waiting to hear from a friend of mine. She may have hooked it up through connections she has to get the vaccine tomorrow. I don't really want it as I am NOT a fan of needles but if it means I can have a "normal" life again I'll get it. Thankfully it should be the J&J one and done. I am prepared to be a bit under the weather and have a couple frozen pot pies for my husband to have for dinner if I react badly. I have heard Tylenol and plenty of fluids after helps so I will try that. I am really hoping not to have an immediate reaction as I do have some allergies including Tetanus.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Quack and Good Morning Friends,

Such good Bingo news, AuntieMe3, I'm so glad, my friend :dog:

Precious, LJ with the Easter bunny, Taz Dev, brightened my morning right up! 🐰

So nice to come onto many new posts in our lovely thread. Thank you, friends:hug:

Cake for dinner sounds tasty to me šŸŽ‚ :)

🐣:grouphug: to all. Happy Wednesday!

As much of the grass that we have is mowed. Backyard still a mess. I can't wait for the landscaper to come. Hosta split and planted. Way harder than I thought. And there was a little holly tree starting to grow so I moved it to a better location Now I am watching Chasing Waterfalls and going thought some papers looking for something. Also going to make deviled eggs and fruit salad to have with hot dogs and burgers for dinner.

Booked three nights at the Refuge Inn in Chincoteague, VA at the end of April. We had this booked last year and, of course, it was cancelled. It will be nice to do an outing.

/
We have nothing but sun, and its 82 degrees. @Breezy_Carol--our hostas have barely started to come up yet,,yours are already up and were able to be split? Wow! Sad about your neighbor needing a new septic system too. We don't have them in this area..but we went by at least 3 houses that had plumbing companies digging up and putting in new sewer lines. :(

I bought a new gas string trimmer at Walmart, thinking it would be lighter than my cordless one..but its going back tomorrow. Weighs almost 5 lbs more than my other one. My arms would never be able to handle it anymore. So it's back to my cordless one again.
Aldi's was almost empty, Walmart was busy, but not packed, walked right up to an empty register again

Got a rotisserie chicken , going to shred it up and make either tacos or chicken salad for dinner with it. I am just not in a good mood today,,think I am just tired from trying to get too much done at once, and not really succeeding at much of it.

@tazdev3225--thank you for sharing the Easter pics of LJ,,he is so cute..and getting bigger already!

Have a good afternoon all

One extra day of my Lenten Gratitudes project, since the board was down on Easter:
  • DS got his 1st vaccine today!!!
  • The older gentleman who I see walking every day on my commute was back this week. šŸ™‚ (He was not there last week, and I was a bit worried.)
  • Flowers coming up.

Carol, that inn sounds lovely! I look forward to hearing about your stay there and maybe seeing some pony pictures, too. I'm not a horse person but appreciate care of all God's creatures. I will have to reread Misty post plague. I am truly glad you have a getaway to look forward to, my friend. I hope you do like Chasing Waterfalls.

Hug, Lynn, I'm sorry you have to lug the machine back to Walmart tomorrow. I am glad to hear of sunshine for you :)

What great gratitude, PollyannaMom, thank you for sharing :)

I am so grateful to have gotten to talk with a friend of both my Dad and I who it's been forever since I spoke with. Lori is doing well and said she'll drive by and wave sometime soon :)

Dad and I also worked more on our scrapbook album this morning. It's really meaningful to put together a joint album that we both will be able to enjoy :)

Wishing all of you a good afternoon :)

Good afternoon everyone -

Carol - that sounds like a nice get a way, enjoy yourselves! I love hostas, and try to pick up a few each year and add them to my menagerie of landscaping - but I've never tried halving them. Are you generally successful with this and is this the time of year to do it? I have - of all things - mums coming up. Not just coming up but proper green little bushes growing by the day! My bit of reading on it says to whack them down by the 4th of July in order to keep them from budding & blooming to early, so I'm going to try that. A rather hearty vine I planted last year is coming back with gusto and the clematis is already climbing up it's trellis. I have one hosta that is starting to poke itself up barely, I'll have to check the other ones and see if they are coming out of the ground yet.

Lynxstch - I get you on the mood. I've been fighting the same one for a few days. I think I'm starting to come out of it.

I was able to track down some (MD) crabmeat & softshells for my parents, so I'll take that down with me on Monday. Ordered up some groceries this afternoon and already had them delivered to my car at the office. I realized I had not paid attention and we were out of both half & half AND coffee, but the last thing I felt like was hitting the store after work so I did delivery. We were up and on the road at 6:15 this AM as we had a 8AM class about 45 minutes down the road. Decided to go to Cracker Barrel for breakfast, I had two gift certificates I really wanted to use up, husband likes CB but it's not really my favorite so I was glad to be done with carrying around those gift cards any longer! I was up at 3:45 again this morning and just tossed & turned till I got up at 5 so I'm feeling a bit beat truth be told. Plus I had a disturbing dream that stayed with me all morning, and upsetting dreams aren't something I'm accustomed to so I was taken aback by how it stayed with me for so long.

Hopefully we can hear if Cali is going to be picked up this weekend or ??? by tomorrow afternoon or Friday morning. I have some shopping to do and it's looking like a all day type affair, so I'd like to know when/if I can accomplish that. I really need some new spring & summer clothes - and I'm on this kick (thanks to Carols 1 item a day for 40 days idea) that I really want to get rid of like for like things if I bring more clothes home. So for every item I get, I want to get rid of one I'm not wearing. What I REALLY need to do is thin out two items for every one that I bring home. At least I'm hoping to stick to this plan  !

Dinner this evening will be grilled tenderloin of venison, roasted baby potatoes and garlic naan.

We had a nice Easter. Quiet.
So glad you had a nice Easter. That cake looks so yummy.

He has his second vaccine tomorrow, so hopefully won't have some of the side effects others have had.
Hope your DH doesn't feel too bad after his shot tomorrow.

Making Zatarain's red beans and rice, with some Soberdough cornbread & ale, for lunch today.
Yum....I haven't made red beans and rice in awhile....might need to add that to my grocery list. So happy your DS got his first dose. DD still needs to get hers but wants to schedule when she can have the day after off, which means she'd have to do it on a day she works since she usually works every other day. LOL We'll figure it out, she can ask for a day off if she has to.

LJ and the Bunny
Love the picture of LJ and the bunny...and your other grandsons too. You have a beautiful family.

@Breezy_Carol looks likes such a nice place for a getaway. Hope you have a great time when you go.

@PollyannaMom glad your DS got his first shot.

@flyingdumbo127 glad you and your Dad got to work on a scrapbook together.

@easyas123 I hope you hear news about Cali getting picked up soon. I've been having weird dreams myself lately, I remember them but then again, I don't...its weird. I also just saw the video for the first time of the little boy you talked about yesterday...OMG, so sad for that little guy. I just wanted to give him a big hug.

I feel like an animal caretaker today....giving both my dogs their meds(I don't know if I mentioned before my other dog has dog lupus... :sad2: ) and supervising potty time to make sure everything is coming out ok....:scared::sad2:. My dad dropped their (4 little)dogs off at the groomers this morning and then forgot he had an appointment, so I had to pick them up. It's only a block away so I didn't mind but they were so sad when I took them home and no one was there, I hung out with them for a little while. Poor things are used to someone always be there with my mom but now hat she is in the hospital, they don't know what to do with themselves.

Aside from that, I've been doing a little cleaning and some laundry. Dh wants me to go out of town with him next week but I'm not sure I'm comfortable leaving the dog with DD just yet, so we'll see.

I have an eye appointment tomorrow, my first in many, many years, and I'm almost positive, I'll need glasses. I'm so blind.

Dinner tonight is supposed to be a hello fresh Mediterranean bowl meal....looks good but not sure DD is going to care for it, so I have a back up of tacos just in case. LOL I love tacos.

It is the time of year, I googled it. And as far as successful, I've never tried before. I hope I don't kill them. If so, I'll get more next year. I have not had much luck with things like this in the past. A friend at church gave me these out of her yard.

Decided to go to Cracker Barrel for breakfast,
I love Cracker Barrel breakfast. The blueberry pancakes. There is one quite close to us and haven't been in over a year.

Count me in as having weird dreams too. Mine last night was so long and detailed and just plain odd as far as mixing people and places, but nothing disturbing.

Wishing the best to everyone getting their first or second covid vaccine.

Glad to hear the doggies are doing better. We love our furbabies so much that it hurts when they hurt. Wishing the best to the doggies too.

LJ is so cute with the Easter Bunny as well as the other grandkiddies.

A few nights in Chincoteague sounds relaxing and nice.

How nice to talk with friends and keep in touch.

We are scheduled to go to Disney next month. I am hoping Jasper stays healthy so he can vacation at his new kennel. I have been somewhat stressed and anxious as well as a bit crabby lately. I need some fun time away to just relax and not think about the outside world and work. I know it won't be the usual Disney vacation but I don't care. I am not doing alot of planning other than dining reservations. I am usually an obsessive planner. I told DH it won't be the usual if it is 2 pm in MK we are at Haunted Mansion. Who knows where we will be at 2 pm in MK and I don't care as long as we are having fun.

Jasper saw the groomer today. He acted pretty much like an old man dog according to the groomer. He was not real good, a bit shaky, and cranky. She said it is not his fault, he is old. He never really likes getting groomed. She said they just do the best they can which is all we expect. He does look good so she did a good job.

Happy Wednesday.

I have divided many Hostas, over the years. They are very forgiving. I use an old kitchen serrated knife and just saw away. This is the best time of the year, for the best outcome they should be divided before they unfurl. Good Luck, hostas are my favorite. I think I have over 150, but I haven't counted in awhile. I think last year was the first year I did not buy even one. I may have a problem, might need some help:rotfl2:

I met a lady at exercise class probably about 15 yrs ago now. She kept telling me she wanted to give me some Hostas as she had so many and she wanted to thin them out. So we went over her house one day with a large box. DH said she dug each one up with a shovel, then split it with the shovel itself, and then re-planted the main plant while we took the other half home. We planted all of them, some out back, and some out front. The first year she predicted they’d look a little funky, and they did. But in subsequent years they came up beautifully every year with very little to no maintenance, and I don’t think we ever lost any of them. (DH confirms - definitely my type of plant!) I really love them! They remind me of my aunt and uncle’s house when I was growing up. That lady has long since moved, but I still drive by her house every day and think about how cool it was that she did that for us all those years ago! :goodvibes (And all of hers are still thriving!)

Tonight we went out to dinner just the four of us. We toasted to DS applying for his first professional job post-graduation. Exciting time for him! DH was the designated driver so he just had a soft drink. šŸ˜
