Flyingdumbo127 Time to Come Home for Christmas is the one with the singer and the guitar case I believe. I watched 2 movies yesterday, one with the singer with the guitar case and that one was OK. I started watching one with a widowed mother going home for the first time since her husband passed. I want to see the rest of the that one. After a while I forget the titles and just remember the plot. I liked Christmas in Angel Falls. This is my first year watching Hallmark movies so I am a bit confused.

We just finished watching Christmas Vacation. I really needed to laugh so it was a great movie to watch.

Have a nice evening.

@apirateslifeforme, I love that clock! The seafood lasagna sounds awesome, too. I did a ham for Christmas, because that's DH's favorite, but I may do something seafood for New Year's.

We've been having a lazy day here - watched a little TV and did a Zoom call with some friends in Toronto. It's the first year in ages they haven't been down this way at Christmastime (one of them has family here) so it was nice to still "see" them.

I got outside for a bit with one of the cats, too, since it was sunny and bright - still not exactly warm here, but it felt much nicer.

I also like the clock, Apirateslifeforme. Such a thing (especially if it changed to afternoon/evening on the same day might have helped my Grandma (as her dementia increased). She would take a nap, wake up and sadly be convinced it was a new day :( I'm glad you had a good Christmas :)

Thanks, Snowysmom so much! Lol, so maybe I didn't miss much by not seeing the whole guitar case movie. I saw the other one listed but was recording something else at the same time. I'll keep an eye out for it to re-air, but first did you like it? :) I totally agree that it is hard to remember which movie is which after a while!

So glad you enjoyed a lazy day that included "seeing" friends, PollyannaMom. Prayers post plague you will get to see them in person and have a real nice visit :)

Amazon Essential T's came today! I really like the long sleeved T, very soft and smooth. It's big one me but will be comfortable especially for as PJ top. The short sleeve T's I may try again some time in a bigger size because I am pretty thin now but tall. I also have semi broad shoulder span. Right now the smaller size is plenty roomy but pulls at my shoulders so I think a size up would take care of that. Thank you all for the recommendation on this brand :)

We also got our second set of jersey sheets from Target. They are: https://www.target.com/p/cotton-ble...t/-/A-52117906?preselect=52937988#lnk=sametab Dad got the darker blue I got the greenish blue. I prefer typically green to blue so that works. I would have gotten pink but those were not available for shipping. Both are very soft (Dad's maybe are a little softer. We will see after they are washed on Tuesday). They were a good deal because we were able to combine Target circle and Home daily discounts. Good delivery day.

We had a totally lazy day here too. He watched football, I took a short nap, and watched the Lifetime movie, Inn Time for Christmas, which I really enjoyed. Just finished eating Chinese and it was soooo good,,haven't had it in awhile. Off to watch 1 more movie before his beloved Packers play on Sunday Night Football.
Have a nice evening!

I am already getting tired of looking at Christmas decorations around the house, will start taking them down on Thursday, by Friday only the tree and the outside decorations will still be up. A month is long enough for me!
I'm the same way. If we hadn't postponed our Christmas until after DGS got back I would have put everything away yesterday.

We just finished watching Christmas Vacation. I really needed to laugh so it was a great movie to watch.
Now I know why it hasn't exactly felt like Christmas! I haven't watched Christmas Vacation this year. We always watch it.

DH has cooked both breakfast and dinner today. He made homemade McMuffins for breakfast and grilled steak and baked potatoes for dinner. Both were delicious!

I got out and picked up some bundtlets at Nothing Bundt Cake. I had a gift card from last year, picked up three, Marble, Lemon and Peppermint Chocolate Chip. Then I went to Kohls and returned some things, one of which were houseshoes that I had purchased for DS for Christmas. Found out today that he got some Ugg houseshoes from his fiance. I ordered a fishing line cutter and a fishing shirt on Amazon to take the place of the houseshoes.

I was able to speak with my mom's nurse today. She said that she is doing well, has one more week in quarantine. If she tests negative next week they will place her in a non Covid hall.

We had a nice weekend, I got the first dose of my Covid vaccine (Moderna; DD got the Pfizer last week), and feel pretty good so far, not even any pain at the injection site. I was a little nervous going into it, but am fine now that it’s over, and am glad I was able to get it. 🙏🏻 DH and I took Toto to a dog park afterward and then went out to breakfast. It was delicious, as usual, and I’ll post some pictures. I felt bad, though. As DH was getting out of the car, his foot got caught on my pocketbook  and he took a Dixie, going down slow-motion-like onto the sidewalk. All I could do is watch in horror. Poor guy, this is the second time he went down recently, last week getting caught up in another dog’s leash and going down in the snow! But in his typical dry-humor fashion, I asked if he was ok and with a smirk, without missing a beat, he said, “I just hurt my side and my pride”! :lmao: He was already limping a bit from last week, we’ll see how he does after this one. What a pair, the two of us! He’s hobbling and I’ll be off in the corner quivering (post-vaccine!). Toto won’t know what’s going on!

We decided before we got home to stop into one of our favorite second hand shops, just to browse (and chill) a bit. I treated myself to a little mini-coffee percolator that is brand new. During a power outage not too long ago we realized we had no way to make coffee! (Keurig.) So this will come in handy for that in the future. DD has also begun putting some things away for her own place, and I found her a cute Christmas serving platter which is also brand new (I think), in the box. Best part, too, is all the Christmas stuff was half price so I got it for just $6!

You all inspired me with your beautiful nativity sets. I have a small one I always loved and we had it out this year, but some of the figurines were missing. 😣 I didn’t get any they had there, but decided it’s something I’m going to keep my eye out for this year. It has to be fairly small, though. (I actually have the stable which is in good condition, and the Mary and Joseph are little stuffed doll-type things, hard to describe. And we have the baby Jesus. But somewhere along the line we lost the Wise Men and I believe some animals. Would love to try to replace these figurines rather than the whole thing. But I think it might be rather difficult to find replacements. I might be able to make them.)

What did you get?

Good evening.

Lots of good posts from people. By the time I get to this time of night, I am too tired for lots of typing.

@Pea-n-Me, those blueberry pancakes look so good. I miss going out to breakfast. Glad you got the vaccine.

We got up today and actually skipped church, not something we usually do. But the way it is now, we can watch later, which we will.

Left home about 10 and drove the 2 hours to DS's house. He got pizza for lunch. We opened gifts. He and DH watched the Ravens. We played a new card game they got as a gift from us. They drove home across the bay bridge and up the eastern shore. We saw 3 eagles at different places along the road. So cool.

Because we had a big lunch, I just unfroze chicken soup and made grilled cheese. Cookies later.

Planning to watch Holly and Ivy now. They just had an advertisement that Hallmark Channel will play Christmas movies every Friday.

Not sure I spoke of gifts from the kids. DD gave us both a beach umbrella, DH an NC State sweat shirt, and gave me a weighted blanket. DS gave us both a gift membership to Longwood Gardens for a year, DH the Message (Bible in contemporary language), and me a jigsaw puzzle and some locally blended tea. All and all a very generous Christmas.

Glad you enjoyed the movie, Lynxstch. I'll keep an eye out for that one to re air. I'm recording Check inn to Christmas and Christmas Town. The Christmas Ornament I have already to watch. Most all of the Inn's are so quaint and Christmas-y, especially the one in Time to Come Home for Christmas. I really would love to stay at such a place (if there was such a place relatively near me that is) I hope the Packers will win 🏈

Kirby, what good news on your mom! Continued prayers for her indeed! A belated Christmas celebration as I told my friend Barbara Ann will help make it all the more special. Peppermint chocolate chip cake sounds interesting! Is the cake part pink?

Oh no, prayers for your DH, Pea! I am thankful you are doing well so far after your shot! Wow that you might make some Nativity figures! That is so cool. Let me know if you do and maybe lol I can get a lamb from you! The lamb I have has the sweetest smiling face but he doesn't stand on his own anymore. I'd also maybe like a couple smaller animals. I'd love to see your future creations.

Cool about the eagles, Carol. So thankful you did get to have a nice lunch and visit with your DS. That's great about Hallmark Channel. So HM&M=Christmas Thursday night and Hallmark=Friday, good to know!

Glad everyone liked the video and pictures. Our dogs are pretty spoiled.

What kind of cookware do ya'll use?
We have a set from Costco. Its Kirkland brand and I really like it. Not the exact same as ours but this is the newer version I guess.
https://www.costco.com/kirkland-signature-12-piece-hard-anodized-cookware-set.product.100494015.html
Reminded me of Champ. Dad would share (when I was at college) that every night he would make some microwave popcorn. Champ knew when that time was and would literally block the TV Dad was watching until he made Champ his popcorn.
Our dogs do that when it's dinner time, or at least think it's dinner time. LOL They get fed at 7:30 every night so they start whining and getting in our faces or laps when the want is to feed them. LoL

I am craving Chinese, so that will be dinner tonite.
Mmm... that sounds good. Maybe we'll have that tomorrow.

We got news that his kennel is shutting down next month. They just could not continue running at a loss. I feel so bad for them. They had this business for close to 30 years.
That's to bad. I hope you can find a new job kennel for Jasper.

It's one of these (we have one in our house as well), a "digital clock for seniors":
That is really cool....I might need one of those for my mom. She's constantly asking what day it is. LOL

I got out and picked up some bundtlets at Nothing Bundt Cake.
Love Nothing Bundt Cake. My sister got me a white chocolate raspberry for my birthday and it was soo good.

I got the first dose of my Covid vaccine (Moderna; DD got the Pfizer last week), and feel pretty good so far, not even any pain at the injection site. I was a little nervous going into it, but am fine now that it’s over, and am glad I was able to get it. 🙏🏻
So glad you and your DD were able to get your first dose and no side effects. My SIL and her twin sister, both RNs, got their first shots Wed, as well as a few friends. Its so exciting.

Lazy day....helped with my mom, took a nap, video chatted with my niece and played some games on my phone. Hubby made breakfast and made a huge mess. He promised to clean up and I'm holding him to that promise....even though the sink is STILL full of dirty dishes. LOL I'm trying to be strong but I know I'll end up cleaning it up first thing in the morning. DD returns to work tomorrow, DH will be working from home and I guess I need to clean or something....we'll see.

Good morning everyone! It may feel a little more like Spring today,,temp will hit 50, lol! No plans for the day other than to wash the kitchen floor. Hubby didn't sleep well last nite, he didn't come to bed till after 11:30 when the Packers game finished. After that he was up and down a lot, which of course woke me up a lot. He finally fell asleep at 4:15, just in time for me to be fully awake and get up. I already need a nap, lol!
Have a great day all!OIP (3).jpg

You all inspired me with your beautiful nativity sets. I have a small one I always loved and we had it out this year,

We have a little set we bought at Joann Fabrics when we were young and on a tight budget. It's not fancy, but I love putting it out every year and remembering back to those times. (The angel, which holds a tealight, was a separate addition - a gift from a coworker back then as well.)

They just had an advertisement that Hallmark Channel will play Christmas movies every Friday.

Oooh, go to know! It seems like we'll have Christmas movies whenever we need them.

@lynxstch, that photo is beautiful!!

Sorry about the lack of sleep. DH and DS are night owls (DS more than DH) and I'm an early bird, so I hear you on the opposite sleep schedules. I love my quiet time in the mornings, though!

Good morning.

@PollyannaMom , I think someone else posted this too, in addition to Hallmark having Christmas movies every Friday, Hallmark Movies and Mysteries will have them every Thursday night.

What kind of cookware do ya'll use?
I have Circulon that I like but mostly use my old Revere Ware I got when I first moved out on my own. I’d get nonstick cookware that would wear out then I’d go back to the Revere. I can use cooking spray in it and, if something sticks, I can use steel wool.

..helped with my mom, took a nap,
I read this as “helped my mom take a nap.”

he got some Ugg houseshoes
Read this as “he got some Ugg horseshoes“. Must stop skimming.

ETA, Just watched The Christmas Secret. This was a good one. An amazing number of coincidences coming together.

Good Morning, Everyone :) We had thunder and lightning later last night along with some rain. All seems dry right now. Keeping in prayer it stays that way because Dad needs to go to a few places this morning. ETA: It's raining a little now and Dad just went out :( Keeping him extra in prayer. Hopefully he'll be home within a couple hours :) I also had a semi harder time falling asleep last night. I was glad (power went out for a couple minutes) the two Christmas movies I had set to record still recorded. I finished watching The Christmas Ornament. It was okay, nothing special.

ETA: Carol, I'm recording The Christmas Secret as I type.

PollyannaMom, I love the little sheep the Shepherd is holding, sweet smile. I absolutely believe the real animals present knew Jesus was/IS special! What matters, especially IMO, with a Nativity set, is that you have one, the respect, not at all how fancy it may be!

Please stay warm and well friends. Have a Blessed last week of 2020!

@PollyannaMom I love those little figurines!

@flyingdumbo127 I really don’t have a crafty bone in my body, save for photography! But these seem so simple I am wondering if it would be a possibility, especially with DD’s help, who is very creative. I will show you a picture.

That picture above inspired me to look around a little bit online. There are some that would work, size wise. They’d need to be quite small, as the stable is small. I do like the Resin ones. (In my family the ones we had were resin but one of our dogs chewed them up pretty good one year!) But I’d love to able to find ones like the original ones.

As you can see, it’s quite rustic, which I love. Usually we put hay down but that is lost, too. 😕

I have a collection of crèches, but my favorite is just baby Jesus given to me in 5th grade, which was in the 1950’s. I am of Polish heritage, and the idea was to do a good deed every day in Advent, so Jesus would have a soft place to lay upon. I kept the tradition with my sons to a point. Now, it’s in my curio cabinet year round.

One local church has 10 nativities on their grounds, I’m hoping to drive by one evening this week to see.
cookware - I had Revereware too , in my first apartment , I loved the copper bottoms. I kept the really small pan and still use it to make oatmeal . Also one skillet that is perfect to spray and then make scrambled eggs. the rest of the pots went to my sister after I got married. I got Emerilware from Bed Bath and Beyond as a wedding gift . I liked the copperrings they have on the bottom. they have worked great for over 15 years , but are quiet heavy to lift.

Greetings all - hope everyone had a real nice Christmas holiday.
We had a wonderful few low key days without to much hustle & bustle. Christmas Eve we had a nice meal, Christmas Day we enjoyed a late breakfast and a late due to my inaccurate calculations as to how long the turkey would take! Santa brought me a new Kindle, which I've been needing, and a new set of wooden spoons, which I specifically asked for! The rock tumbler we got for our niece was a big hit with her, and it was nice that both our adult kids were able to be home, I know it won't always we that way over the ensuing years. So many desserts....and leftovers. I've made duck soup w/ wild rice and turkey stock, all in freezer. Today for lunch we polished off the rest of the turkey - except the turkey salado_O. I've given away rest of the cake, consolidated the cookies, and am plotting as to when I can deep six the remainder. So, we are slowly getting thru it all! I still have a ham in the fridge, looking at me every time I open the door - it was one of the items I nixed off the meal list for lack of time/people to eat it. Soon I'll have to decide if I should freeze it or have it. Husband wants to have the fondue on NYE and I already ordered some tamales, so I guess those will get moved to New Years Day??? To many heavy meals, I feel like I could walk for 4 hours and still not be hungry or want to eat again! I am pleased with myself in that I didn't over due eating to many sweets...carbs,yes!
I've been home since Wednesday afternoon around 3ish and "relaxing & taking it easy". I'm absolutely tired of doing nothing! I've got a list of places to look up, there is no way I can stay home next year! I've done the bike, taken walks and watched A LOT of Dr. Who though, so I haven't been totally unproductive:joker: and anticipate a lot more of the same....I have a item to return, going to go tomorrow or Wednesday, hopefully that won't be an ordeal! I also need to do a bit of grocery shopping, may just make a bit of a day out of it on Wednesday.
I've enjoyed reading thru all the posts that you've made regarding your holidays. I saw a bunch of things I wanted to mention or reply to or comment on but I neglected to quote them or remember them all!
