Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Old Stuff:
During the initial lockdown, I watch a lot of old Waltons reruns. It was comforting.
DH and I together have also gotten into a routine of watching a game show called America Says.

New Season Stuff:
This Is Us
Connecting

Disney+
Once Upon a Time (which I somehow missed when it was initially on)

And of course, now, Hallmark (and a bunch of other channel) Christmas movies!

Does the same thing to my cats (and, really to me as well - I felt "off" all day yesterday.)

I think you were right to leave the other one. - Think of how happy you made someone else who was looking just like you were!
is once upon a time for kids/teens or did you enjoy it as an adult?

is once upon a time for kids/teens or did you enjoy it as an adult?

Its definitely not for kids,,teens yes, adults yes. I am an 'older' adult, and I watched all the seasons when it was on ABC and I loved it. Now everytime I see an actor or actress who was in it on another show, I say 'there's Prince Charming, there's Belle, " etc..lol

We watched NONE of the election results..and from what I have seen (trying to avoid all of it anyhow), there really aren't any to watch yet, other than local ones, and where we live, it really doesn't matter, as there were no important races. Husband voted by mail (2 weeks after I did, as his ballot came later), and he still didn't get the 'your ballot has been counted' email, so who knows how long it could take to announce the 'winner'?
Sunshine and temps of 65 or higher through next Monday, I will enjoy the weather, but may regret already cleaning and storing the mower. I may have to take it back out if the grass grows too much during the next few days, lol

Good morning, All!
A productive day in the neighborhood after many days of being a complete lazy lima bean.
Went to the farmer’s market yesterday so spent a few hours putting the goods away properly and washing the fridge shelves earlier this morning. Yanno, soft herbs in jars of water, washing carrots, radishes and turnips; the boring but necessary stuff.

Next stop, scouring the local markets’ circulars for good sales and maybe soak some beans as I’ve a yen for black bean soup and if Im making one bean soup I might as well make some other versions too.

Good Morning all from me, too :) 90's are returning for a day or two here soon but then in the 60's!

Carol, as a young kid, I did sometimes like milk mixed with a ton of Nestle Quik powder. That way I was mostly tasting chocolate as opposed to milk. I never really liked chocolate milk (already made) because it usually was too "milky" lol. I did when younger like some chocolate shakes especially from Wienerschnitzel. My biggest use of milk now is to make instant pudding! It's good to find someone else who agrees and understands about milk lol!

Have a wonderful Wednesday, everyone!

I am not a big drinker of plain white milk, the only time I use it is in cereal, or for recipes, or mashing potatoes. I do buy 1/2 gallon of whole chocolate milk at Aldi's every weekend, along with 1/2 gallon of whole milk , and between the 2 of us, we finish them both of them up.

On the subject of Aldi's, and turkeys. In their circular this morning they have Butterball advertised for $.87 a lb , limit 2. We are going up there this afternoon to get one of each of the briskets they have on sale (salt and pepper, and texas bbq) and if they have any smaller Butterballs, I will be picking up an extra one for the freezer. I know ads are printed up way ahead of time, so they might not have any, but it's worth a look since we will be there anyhow!

Ah, weather in the Mid-Atlantic is proving to be it's usual self! In the 40's a few days ago and windy as all get out. Today is so dang pleasant that I sat outside in the sun and enjoyed my lunch & a few minutes of a audio book. I might even get a pleasant sunset in this evening. Looks like we are going to have a mighty nice stretch of days coming up thru the weekend and I hope to take advantage of them...although one weekend day will be earmarked for last mow of the fields for the year.

Youngest is very out of sorts, going thru a break up (I think it was his idea...trying to not stick my nose in, he is very private) AND the Army is jerking him around with assignments and deployments. Trying to be supportive but not intrusive. I do think the break up might not have been pretty (are they ever?) but was the right direction for him, and the Army *should* have their you know what together in next few weeks. He'll be home for dinner tonight - I should make some sort of dessert, he is a sucker for sweets.

I feel so much lighter this afternoon than I did yesterday afternoon. I think it's that the world didn't end, Americans didn't burn down their country and the sun still shines. Of course, we don't know who is gonna be President yet, so there is still time :sad2:

Dinner this evening will be boneless/skinless chicken thighs - I'll marinate them in some way when I get home, not sure with what - leftover seafood mac & cheese from last night and probably a salad or ?? to go with it. Maybe some drop biscuits. Considering making pulled pork tomorrow in the crock pot, got a fair size pork loin roast in freezer that I spied when I got out the chicken. I'm determined to get back into the grove of a proper dinner most nights!

is once upon a time for kids/teens or did you enjoy it as an adult?

Definitely not targeted to the little ones!

The premise is that all of the storybook characters have been transported to a remote town in Maine, and don’t remember who they are. A certain character escaped the curse (without knowing about it) and is supposed to come and save them. It goes into a lot of backstory (quite dark in some cases) on the characters.

I’m only in season one, as I’m not straight binge-watching it, but viewing in pieces as motivation to walk on the treadmill, but I am definitely enjoying it!

I was at Aldi’s yesterday and saw the Butterballs. Decided to wait because a) I don’t have the freezer space they were pretty big and b) most of us are working on Thanksgiving so we’ll do something the weekend afterward and they’ll probably have turkeys marked down then. DH will be seeing his family with guidelines in place unless something changes between now and then. I did sort of start my Christmas shopping a bit afterward trying to keep things fairly simple while getting people what they want or need.

I was also looking at getting a bigger crock pot for ourselves as ours is small and we’d like to use it more. And of course our toaster broke this morning so now I have to find another one of those - I like the one we have so just need a replacement (and I think WalMart sells them). I am loving the new dishwasher, it’s nice to have a functional one again, lol. DH had the ice machine in the freezer torn apart today and ordered a part from Amazon he thinks will fix it. I hope so as we miss the ice without having to buy it.

Have some shifts coming up so will be busy the next few days. Stay well, everyone!

DD was so funny filling out her ballot...she was like OMGosh this is sooo stressful. Poor thing's first election was 2016 and she said she thought that one was bad but this one is way worse.
I'm totally stress eating today. I barely slept last night, too, and I can't stay away from the map on Yahoo. As posted on our town open forum this morning, "Feels like the whole country is on Maury, waiting to find out who the father is."

But also part of the reason I couldn't sleep is that we had our parent-teacher conference with Josh's teacher this morning. We were her first virtual conference, she said, so we were the guinea pigs! I shouldn't have worried, she had nothing but good things to say about him. He's kind, smart ("well above his level"), curious, imaginative, his writing and math skills are excellent...it's obvious that we talk to him and engage him and work with him, she said. She did mention that he can read quite well and I did say that that was a shock to me, as when we sit down to read a book, he tells me that he can't do it because he can't read yet. She looked surprised at that and said that he can definitely read. So it all went very well and I tried to compliment her as well, that I understand that she's basically teaching 2 classes at once and we all agreed that it's difficult on everyone.

So then I went upstairs to where he was playing with my mom by standing on her bed, having her "push" him backwards (not really, of course) and then he'd fall back. I told him that he needs to be careful because she has a solid wood footboard and he was going to bang his head on it. Sure enough, not 30 seconds later he threw himself backwards and *CRACK*. He's got a HUGE swelling on the back of his head now. I wanted to take him to urgent care but nobody would let me. It's been 5 hours and so far he's okay, but I'm still worried. He's outside playing with DH right now...still has some schoolwork to do but daylight is limited now, so I figured he could play first and do work later when it's dark.

Congrats to us **** PAGE 300!

Still not watching the returns, just check in periodically.

"Feels like the whole country is on Maury, waiting to find out who the father is."
This about sums it up.

Currently watching the end of The Greatest Showman on TV. I love the music.

Yesterday afternoon we went to a Giant abut 25 minutes away. Got 2 small frozen turkey breasts for DH and me. I buy these whenever we shop there as they can be cooked from frozen, are about 2.5 pounds, and give us 2+ meals. Also got low fat Hebrew National hot dogs and fat free cheese. all things we can't get at our Food Lion.

Today we cleaned the shed for the first time in 20 years. Basically pulled everything out and made 3 piles - metal recycling, trash, and things to go back in. I have a small pile to give away for free on Buy Nothing, or Facebook marketplace. Trash will have to go out bit by bit in the next few weeks pick ups. Also went to the orchard market and bought apples and griller sausages.

DD had a client to visit this afternoon not far from us. She came here and dropped off the dogs for dog therapy for us for a few hours and the give this needy golden-doodle a break. She'll be back to get the dog then go get the kids from daycare.

I think dinner tonight will be turkey burgers. I bought the ingredients to make a double batch and freeze. Still part of my apocalypse preparation.

🍨 Chocolate ice cream is indeed tasty!

As always nice to see a bunch of added posts. Prayers indeed for all of you, my friends :)

I'm sorry your son is going through a hard time, Easyas123. Glad you are feeling better!

Yikes, Apirateslifeforme! Prayers Josh will be just fine! I am so glad tour conference with his teacher went so well. Hug to you as well!

Do you go to Milburn? Eldest was going to head up there last weekend, but ended up they needed a reservation to pick apples, so they were unable. Not sure if they made reservations for this weekend, but it's gonna be awfully nice so might be a good weekend to go...I'll have to remind him!

...and I did say that that was a shock to me, as when we sit down to read a book, he tells me that he can't do it because he can't read yet.

He is likely afraid that if he can read himself, you'll stop reading to him. Lots of kids seem to have that worry. Just reassure him that there is room for both him reading and you reading to him!

All they had at our Aldi's tonite were a whopping 8 Butterballs, and all were 12 lbs or a little over.

Good morning all. I can't believe noone has posted since my last post at 6:34 last nite? Did you all go to bed early? LOL!
Going to be another nice, sunny, warm day here, though not as warm as yesterday. I only have 1 more thing on my 'to do before Winter' list, so I am thinking about putting the Christmas lights up outside today while it's nice. We don't turn them on till Dec 1'st, but I would rather put them all up while it's nice out than when its cold out by the end of the month. Hubby's birthday today, no big plans. Since we haven't been into a restaurant since March, it will be dinner here. Going to put the brisket I got last nite in the crockpot. He can decide what sides he wants with it later.
Have a wonderful Thursday all!

Thanks for posting lynxstch.
We had haircuts last night, Then I have been reading my book rather than getting on the iPad. A few years back, I took the hair dresser some homemade banana bread. She loved it and now requests I bring her homemade goodies rather than tip her. I took her choc chip muffins, ad pumpkin fluff dip with nillawafers last night and a small tip too. It amazes me how many people don’t bake or even make a boxed brownie mix. Like my coworkers who enjoy any treat I bring in. Here’s a virtual choc cake and ice cream for all of you ! 🍦 🍰
