We had crabcakes last nite for dinner (leftover for tonite) and it was the largest jumbo lump crab that I have ever gotten around here. We have a place that gets restaurant supply place leftovers and sells it at a great discount. When covid started, they were getting tons of unbelievable deals. They knew restaurants would be closed for awhile, and they were trying to get rid of all the food before it went bad. this store has been getting some really good stuff lately! I only paid $11 for the 1 lb container of crab meat :)!
. I was talking to the owner and she quietly told me that yesterday they got in a case of Ruth Chris Steakhouse steaks -they kept those for themselves (don't blame them at bit!), and that they had paid $40 for the entire case of them!

Do spill! Where is this place? I'm to embarrassed to type what I paid for the last lb of jumbo lump I bought:guilty:

LOL Its called Stateline Discount. It's just about 10 minutes from me,,right over the MD line into PA. They have great specials every week. I doubt if they will get more of that crab meat, but I bought 3 more this morning and stashed them in the freezer! Their ad for this week, showed jumbo lump crab meat in cans, but she told me to dig behind the ones in the case and I would find the other kind, which I did!

Nice get!

Thanks - I'll check them out...another reason to make a trek up there, along with visiting the Dansko Outlet:)!

Edit: no, I won't. No where near, not sure what I was thinking! But it's close to where hubby will be spending a lot of time over the next 6 or 8 weeks...hmmmmmmmm

Now you're just teasing us! 11.00 for Jumbo Lump? I'd take out a loan and buy more! Wow!

Is there another Dansko outlet besides the one in West Grove? It is right across from Jenners Pond where MIL lived. DH went there often. I don't care for Dansko shoes, they don't fit me right, but DH does.

Not that I know of, that is the only one. I got myself confused and turned around when I mentioned they might be near - only if you consider 3 or so hours "near", so I was way off base there. I need t o plan a trip up there sometime. I have a appt. at Christiana in late November and planned on going up after that, but not sure I want to wait that long.

I like their shoes, but I have square little Flintstone Feet so they fit me well. I've been trying to get my husband to try a pair for years but he flat out refuses.
Says they are "ugly as sin"....odd considering the man will wear crocs, but there you go!

I tried getting a puzzle from Walmart and they were all out. Just when I was hopng for something to do. Some one must of made a deal Ha Ha, And believe it or not no one in the neighbor hood had any either. I will keep wathching trials.

Amazon has some. I really like the Ravensberger and Disney Thomas Kinkade ones. The Disney signature ones from the parks are amazing too.

:mic:Our Uverse deal ran out, and they wouldn't give us a new deal on it, since they are trying to phase out Uverse and move everyone to AT&T TV. We did move to AT&TTV last week, and it seems to be ok; less channels (I lost the CW, so I'm going to have to find a way to stream Whose Line Is It Anyways and DC's Legends Of Tomorrow) for slightly less. I had to pay the last bill in full (instead of them prorating it and letting me pay just for those 6 days of Uverse + month long internet) and now we have 3 bills with them (the TV, internet and wireless); all 3 are bundled, so we get our discounts; just different billing cycles and payment dates. At least the internet is paid for almost three more months (since I have a credit of $109, and my internet is $40 a month), so no paying Oct, Nov and half of Dec. :thumbsup2

Had to ship the Uverse boxes/remotes/etc back to AT&T, so made a quick run to the FedEx store in the no-longer-closest-to-me Walmart superstore. Dropped them off, and grabbed a few things that I needed to get this week (produce, dairy, bread, candy bar, etc). Ran into about 25 people either not wearing a mask or incorrectly wearing them. None of the employees said anything to them, and I just got what few things I needed and got out of there; won't be going there except to hit FedEx if needed.

But I did find a few finds there for our scavenger hunt:

and a new cereal that resembles our interests:

LOL I was wondering where the heck a Dansko Outlet was anywhere around here. I don't even think there is one in Hagerstown or Altoona!

Most welcome, PollyannaMom. I'll try to remember to share whenever OT emails me that offer. Usually it's every 2-3 months but right now seems to be more often possibly because people are ordering more stuff online right now, I know I sure am just not necessarily from OT!

That is a beautiful autumn picture, Lynxstch!

Anyone want to ask a QOTD? We haven't had one in a few days. I admit to still be blanking on ideas but will put my QOTD thinking cap on :D

Wednesday Extra Gratitude:

Dad got two cans of Up & Up Wipes at Target this morning. They didn't have the Happy Harvest Decoration though :( Will have to see if we need enough on Target.com to make ordering the picture worth it. It only ships with orders of $35 and is not eligible for store pick up. No biggie for sure!

I was very grateful to read Josh had a happy first day yesterday, apirateslifeforme and that your DGD had fun, too, Carol.

A kind text from a friend.

Love the Harriet Tubman story! When we visited Buffalo NY a few yrs back I had to go visit the stop on the Underground Railroad they had there, it was by a river and had a fascinating history. Hard to find, but worth it! Here in Boston our Black History Museum got a mention from Fodor’s last week - has ahere ever been?

I have one pair of Dansko’s but I only wear them outside of work. I don’t think my feet would hold up for 12 hrs of running around in them. I do wear Klogz to work they are much more comfortable for me! DD pointed out the beginning of a callous on her foot I said welcome to the world of nurse’s feet! 🦶 😷

DS spent some time in MD this summer with gf’s family. They went crabbing on the Chesapeake Bay one day at 6am then ate the crabs later in the day. Gf’s mother sent me video of DS cracking open and eating the crabs, with everyone’s help. It was pretty funny! I was glad he enjoyed it! 🦀 They had a great time in the area. Really fresh seafood is so good! We get day boat fish at home but scallops are one of my favorites! We have so many good seafood restaurants to choose from, but sometimes we cook them ourselves, too. DH uses cracker crumbs, a little salt, pepper and butter, and broils them. Yum.

I found two items to photograph today.

The witch thing was really cute - the house that says “in” swings out to reveal a plain house and it says “out” on the main sign. 🎃

so sorry to hear about all the fires in California, I read how buying a Merv 13 or Fpr 10 furnace filter for around $15 and taping it to the back of a box fan can really help with carbon dust indoors

Ideas for a child to adjust to kindergarten article said to have them role play their day with stuffed animals , so you can see what they do.

The mummy Disney T-shirt looks really cute, I’ll have to look for it next time I venture out

current magazine has great holiday decor I’ve bought and sent to cousins in new apartments. Also great prices in birthday cards. Only downfall is you need to place at least a $60 order to avoid shipping fees

Born and raised Marylander here. I love to introduce people to crabs.

My brother graduated med school back in 1982 and got married the following week. He wanted to have a crab feast for his friends during the week in between. I brought a bushel of live crabs from Baltimore to his place in Philadelphia. It was so funny to see these people who had just completed medical school have difficulty getting into crabs.

So, 6AM???? Sounds like they got a late start :rotfl2:

Those fall leaves tortilla chips are something I need to find! Sadly I can't even tell you where the nearest Trader Joes is to me! Nowhere near - no Wegmans or Whole Foods either. One of these days....

PollyannaMom, I got those catalogs yesterday, plus Miles Kimball, Signals, Oriental Trading, and one of the educational ones for kids (I can't remember if it's Lakeshore or Mindware...it's still upstairs where I can peruse it before bed). Yep, Christmas is coming!

Yesterday was the day that the school was closed and everyone was online, so it was pretty easy. The teacher was either at home or in her office, so she didn't have to wear a mask and she spoke directly to the camera. Today is the day that Josh's half of the class stays home and goes online, and the other half are in the school, so the teacher has to deal with all of that. I was nervous because for some reason, she schedules the same class twice in the morning and I never know which one I'm supposed to click on. But she finally admitted us and it was so hard to hear her...she's wearing a mask AND a shield, and for the first 10 minutes she was trying to settle the in-class kids...I can't tell you how many times she had to remind them to "Leave your mask on" and "Your mask needs to be over your nose and under your chin." But we managed...so far.

Soccer practice was okay...my mom got mad again because she wanted to leave before 5 p.m. for 5:30 practice and the field is only 10 minutes away. And Josh wasn't listening to the coach. Now here's a little back story...last year in preschool, there was another boy in his class who seemed to like to torment Josh. He hit Josh a lot, wrote on Josh's shirt a few times, and smashed Josh's snack almost daily. The parents were trying their best to get help, and I gave Josh a lot of advice...sent an extra snack for him to offer (which actually worked), try to help teach him about saying "excuse me" and using gentle hands, etc. Just trying to give the kid a little extra love instead of being angry and wanting him gone (plus it was clear to us that the parents were trying). It went on for a month and the school director actually dismissed the boy from the school, the first time she's ever had to do so in almost 25 years. Well...guess who's on Josh's soccer team? Josh knew him right away, and they did seem to get along a bit better last night, but that could also be why Josh wasn't paying attention to the coach. He'd better pay attention to the game on Saturday morning...I might let the coach know about their history and maybe they should play separately so they don't distract each other (at this age, they split the teams into 2 smaller teams and play 2 games at once, so everyone can get out there. They don't keep score or anything. It's really just a bunch of little kids running around and kicking a ball ;) ).

Okay, there doesn't appear to be a live art lesson happening right now, so I think I'm going to get Josh to do his PE "homework" right now. We have to watch a video and "participate." Geez, didn't think I'd have to do more PE at my age...
