Good morning

Feeling lazy today but I need to finish getting the 1st spare room empty. It's mostly dragging out everything I'm donating. Boxes of books I no longer need or want including textbooks from over 40 years ago. They are poetry and Victorian literature anthologies. I am not a fan of Victorian era poetry and books, and I really don't need a modern poetry anthology. I am trying to downsize as I will only have a small bookcase that my dad made years ago. I can't get rid of that. I also have 2 bags of tote bags and the like. I'm even donating the Disney ones I never use. I'd prefer someone get them that would appreciate them. I did get rid of most of the beach towels to my daughter. After they are out I just need to go through the Christmas decorations. I'm going to get rid of what I don't use anymore, including lights. I don't know if my daughters need anything but my neighbor will take some of them. It feels good to know we are getting the room done. I'll get jay to take the mattresses, TV stand and bookcase outside to go in the trash monday. The TV stand should get taken with one of the junk collectors that come around. Nothing wrong with it but I don't plan on having TV's in the spare rooms.

I paid off one room for my August trip, added Memory Maker and got tickets to the Halloween Party. Now if I could just get everyone to come here so we can go over a few things like table service meals, magic bands and getting them to download the My Disney Experience app so they ca link to me. The England trip is probably going to be a NO!. The cost wasn't listed at first and it's over $6,000. It includes airfare but mom is still trying to get her finances straightened out. She loses dad's pension so it may not work for her and I hit an unexpected expense from this past winter - my sidewalk is crumbling in spots. I want to get it done now rather than later to prevent anyone getting hurt. That will be done right before we leave in august so I will be able to use the driveway when I get home. Part of the sidewalk is in front of the driveway.

That snake story actually brings back memories. My brother had a friend who got a snake. He kept it in his closet so his mother wouldn't know except she put some of his clothes away and the snake scared her big time. The friend gave the snake to my brother. It fit in a large barrel my dad had. Well my brother reached in the barrel to shop my mom how docile this snake was. The snake bit him and wouldn't let go. Mom called the dr. worried about venom and who could take it. He recommended a patient who worked at the zoo, ironically my mom babysat the kids. My brother was ok and the snake - a python - found a new home at the Philadelphia zoo. I was happy as I hated the garter snake my other brother had. Not a huge found of slithering reptiles at all.

Not sure I am doing anything special for Mother's Day. My brother probably invited my mom there. Those grandkids are her favorite so I am sure that will be her plan. My son rarely remembers my birthday let alone Mother's Day and one daughter is working although she will text. My other daughter usually gets me a little something - usually Disney related. I prefer not going out to eat because of my seafood/shellfish allergy. I do have an Olive Garden gift card so I may get some Tiramisu to go and drop one off to my mom. Other than that it's just another day. I'm not that sentimental.

Hope you all have a good day. I'm off to try and get the containers to my car and the donation site. Also picking up one more flat of flowers for my deck and maybe some vegie plants. I was very disappointed with the vegies last year. Ants kept eating the eggplant flowers and the tomatoes turned out to be cherry tomatoes. I wanted slicing size.

@tazdev3225 you are getting lots done! I really think snakes belong outside, and there, I am OK if I see one.

I was just called that my ankle braces are ready, so we will pick them up. I need shoes too.

Our son and granddaughter had car troubles so didn’t make it here. Yesterday my sister came down and treated us to the Lobster House for Mothers Day. One of our sons MAY send a card, but not likely.

It’s a beautiful day here, and we went for a bike ride. Heading to pick up the braces next.

Enjoy the day!

So far, the birds I am not seeing are the bluejays - usually I have a pair. Also the woodpecker and the tufted titmouse, plus Eastern Bluebird. It's a bit warmer here and I'm near the flyway so always a lot of birds. As I was going for my haircut yesterday I noticed a Canada Goose with her family (6 goslings) crossing the street to the retention pond. Stopped for a minute to enjoy until more traffic came. In my rearview I could see them stopping also.
We haven’t had a tufted titmouse here, but yes to blue jays and a woodpecker. The catbird couple is back, and I am always happy to see them!

Good Morning. It is 45 and raining. It is supposed to rain all day into the evening. I suspect the soccer games are canceled. Jeff's older 2 are still sick with the flu. Charlotte ran a temp for a couple of hours and then was fine. Ellie is really having a tough time. She has been sick since Monday and as of yesterday was still achy, tired, and headachy. I hope to get a good update today. Luke is on the mend. I will not be seeing them for Mother's Day but all I want is for everyone to be better. Kenny's kids will be with their mother tomorrow. Not sure if Kenny will come by or not. If not it will be a Britbox day. I am really enjoying it. I also have some packing to do.

Have a good Saturday.

QOTD-My favorite purchase.- my upcoming trip to Hawaii

Good morning. Like @Snowysmom , it's raining here, supposedly most of the day. 54 now going to 68. I woke up at 5:30. The outside cats were all sitting on the deck (it wasn't raining yet), so I fed them and the inside ones, opened the blinds, and then went back to bed. I watched video's for awhile, then went back to sleep. Just woke up, feeling totally lazy today. I'll go as far as stripping and remaking the bed and that might be it.

Summer texted me last night that her oil light came on. She said "I hope it's just low on oil". I say why would it be low on oil unless you have a leak, making the level low enough to trigger the warning? I guess she's going to try to get an oil change today. I gave her money for a tank of gas to get to Tennessee tomorrow, but that's all I can do. I know she's working like crazy doing Door Dash, but I don't know how much money she can make from that. She's piling the mileage on her car constantly and if something happens to that car, she's going to be in real trouble.

Going to make a cup of tea and have an english muffin and then settle down to watch a show before I get the sheets changed.

Have a nice Saturday

Love this @PollyannaMom! And love the presentation!

@Snowysmom and @lynxstch those are both great purchases!

I am going to say some new makeup. I don’t really wear it a lot but what I had was old and not great. So I invested in some new stuff which is more modern (with big brushes and whatnot). I had occasion to wear it recently and it was nice. I got some compliments, too. 😊 A close second was probably the Disney mugs I bought to replace the plain black Correlle ones I’ve had that were kind of small. Last trip I bought six of the black ones that have the Mickey heads and I had them shipped home. Now every morning I get to drink my coffee out of one and it makes me happy. :earboy2:

DH and I wound up being kind of sick from that seafood we ate the other day. Gross. We had an event last night that we didn’t even feel like going to, but we went. Was happy to get home. Now I likely won’t want seafood for a while.

DH went out w DD to get flowers for some new planters she bought that sit outside the slider in her apt on the back deck. Last year we’d put some privacy panels up in the same area so it looks really nice. I still have to get out the things I put on the panels which are some ivy and some metal flowers which look pretty, but we are contemplating doing over the deck floor to Trex, the wood we have there is about 30 years old at least and it’s splintering. We priced up the Trex the other day and we think we can do the job ourselves with the biggest workload being taking the old boards up, may hire the good HS kids (now college) to take them up it if we decide to move forward with it, and DH can easily put the new stuff down. I don’t want DS’s kids to get splinters. We have Trex on the front porch and it’s held up really well but we have to re-hammer some nails down that are sticking up a little, that will be a big job as there are hundreds of nails.

DD also filled up my big planter out front for me with flowers for Mother’s Day (and she took us to this event last night for both Mother’s and Father’s Day, which was appreciated).

DH saw his first hummingbird today at his feeder where he makes his own syrup.

We never put AC in the in law apt. My mother didn’t want it. Last year DD had portable AC units but they didn’t work well, so this year she’s putting in a Mitsubishi unit. Hopefully one will cool the whole place, they say it will. Got a price last week from a local company and we figure it’s better to stay local in case there are any problems. We probably should’ve done it last year. So I think I’ll have to be home for that as DH and DD are both working on the days they had available.

Today I am going to tackle washing the floors downstairs. Have to vacuum first. Grady has a lot of shedding but he was groomed recently so that will cut down on it for a while. I also really need to work on my closet. I just haven’t felt up to it, but it needs to get done, especially with the changeover of clothing now. DH has been busy outside w some tasks that needed to get done, too (for a long time). He scraped a fence and the cement stairs we have in the kennel that are right outside our lower family room, so those are ready to paint. I hated the way they looked from the family room so I was tempted to keep the shades closed, lol. But they’ve been open and now it will look nice out there again. So busy, but in a good way.

I hope everyone has a nice weekend. 🐥

I forgot to mention. I did go over to visit my elderly friend the other night. She is always so happy to see me, but she does have daily caregivers that come in (she had a french mani/pedi so she’s getting some pampering, even) and her family stays in touch, three calls came in while I was there, so I’m glad about that. DH went to hang the pictures of her parents on her wall for her but the lovely frames couldn’t have wire put on them, so we brainstormed and decided to go with some shelving instead to place the pictures on. We gave her the option of having both pictures put on one shelf, or two separate shelves, and she decided to have two. So we just have to pick those up and then we’ll go back over to get them up for her so she can see and enjoy them.

I brought her McDonalds and she loved the chocolate shake. She said she never had one before but how could that be? :lmao: I enjoyed one too. 😊 She unfortunately had some testing recently that showed a couple of worrisome things, so she has to go for an oncology appt later this month. 😞🙏 She’d already decided that if it’s cancer she doesn’t want to do anything about it. I tried to say wait and see cause maybe it would be something relatively easy to deal with, but she was adamant. I can understand because it’s hard for her to get to appointments, she has to have an ambulance take her, and she doesn’t want any procedures or medications either. (She’s on the other side of mid 80s now.)

So we then talked about if she’s made that decision then she should think about having a DNR/DNI status so she can go peacefully when her time comes (without resuscitation efforts which can be tortuous and wouldn’t yield a good outcome anyway) so she pulled out the paperwork that her cousin who’s a physician had given her to fill out and asked me to help her with it. 😦 Wow, wasn’t quite ready for that. She reminds me of my mother so much, it must be the Irish in them, lol. Even though she insisted she wanted to get it done, she got a little snippy with me about it, exactly the way my mother used to whenever we talked about pre-planning. It was really something and even DH noticed it. But it’s probably just anxiety. Few want to really think about that. She wanted me to do it for her and I said no, she had to do it, but I would stay with her while she did, and she did. She must’ve had it sitting around for a long time. So she just needs now to get it signed by one of her doctors and then hang it on her fridge and makes copies and she’s all set. (I must call her to remind her of the copies and letting her team know she’s made this decision but she’ll be snippy I’m sure! :duck: But it won’t be any use if it’s not done right.)

I’ll be glad when we can get back to visits that are just carefree and fun. She is quite the character and we can talk and talk and talk for hours and we make each other laugh. (She was my neighbor for 30 yrs.) Even though she doesn’t have a cell phone or internet she stays abreast of current events and she loves talking about them. And there are no flies on her at all! :rotfl2:

QOTD: Best purchase so far this year is my Lodge 10" cast iron pan with 2 side handles. We use it weekly for making pan pizzas -- it works great! Looking forward to using it to roast chicken and tri-tip. Best purchase runner up: Ninja smoothie blender for DH. He loves it and uses it daily.

@Pea-n-Me: The flower boxes and privacy screens look great! We may work something like that into our patio refurb plans.

@PollyannaMom: Glad your DH likes his RAV4! That's on the list for our next car.

Happy Mother's Day. :flower2:

PollyannaMom Glad your DH likes his car. If I need to buy another car it will be a RAV4.

Bobbiwoz Glad adopting Bonnie worked out so well. She is a lovely dog.

Pea I like reading your time with your friend. You are so kind to visit with her and help her out. She reminds me of my grandmother. Chris and I would bring her McDonald's and she loved it and was so happy. Filling out paperwork for a DNR/DNI is a tough one. You gave her the help she needed so it is one less thing she needs to think about. And that is hard to think about even when it is the right thing to do. Your planters are very pretty.

Good morning. It is 50 here now, the sun is shining after all the rain, and it is going to be around 70 today. Yesterday Owen did have soccer so I sat on a wet soccer field, light rain, 48 degrees, and a bit of a wind. I had my trusty umbrella. I did not go to Ethan's game. I ended up getting a migraine around noon and had to just be for a while. The weather did not help. Jeff said the kids are doing better so I am happy about that. He sent me flowers which are lovely. Kenny said he would see me today. Starting my actual packing today. It is supposed to be rainy on Thursday and Friday morning. Wednesday rain will come in later so probably the puffin cruise day. We already said we will just use our umbrellas and go to the gardens and look around the town.

Have a nice Sunday.
