Good Monday Morning!

Last Monday of 2024! We had some warm temps over the weekend and through tomorrow. I actually turned the heat off but it will go back on Wednesday, down in the 30's and possible snow.

Our Christmas was good, and we learned we will be first time grandparents in July!
Congratulations!!!!! What a great Xmas present.

Welp, it’s almost martini time- ever Sunday we sit down at 430 and have martinis & discuss the prior & upcoming weeks.
I love this! Definitely something I would do.

I was off work all last week so I took time off from the computer also. Everyone came over on Xmas Eve and we had a nice time. I think everyone was happy with their gifts. I ordered a meat/cheese platter and we just made sandwhiches. I made a potatoe casserole and had a fruit tray also. Very easy dinner and clean-up.

I ended up shadowing at one of the jobs that I'm going back and forth on. I have arthritis in my back so standing and sometimes walking is really painful. This job is a lot of standing. I stand at Kohl's obviously but that's for 4 hours a shift. With some Advil at the beginning of the shift and some stretching at slow times, I can make it through. I'm hurting but I can do it. This job however would be constantly standing and walking for 10 hours. I really don't think my back can handle it. I mean 4 hours is one thing, but 10 hours! Plus driving 45 minutes one way once a week is fine, but I'm not too sure about 4 days a week. I'm leaning towards the position at the hospital that I currently work at. I think they have a better retirement plan and I need to think about that.

I was in a bit of a funk while I was off work. I didn't move from my couch and I ate horribly. I could tell that I'm starting to slip in the season depression that I go through. Last year is when I went to Disney by myself but that won't be happening this winter. I keep telling myself to go to the gym and I really need to get back into that. Going to the grocery store this weekend so I'm determined to make better food choices. I really need to start cooking.

Back to work, have a great day!

Good morning. Have to be quick, Dave is on his way over. All of that mess with the stove yesterday, left me with no heat in the kitchen. The guy wanted to cap off the vent, but the issue is,,the pipe that went from the wood stove to that vent, is the only way heat got to the kitchen. Dave's going to run a new pipe for it into the furnace. Thankfully he just got home from Florida on Friday.

He bought a piece of uncleared land in FL . Cleared all the trees and built himself a little fishing cabin for when he goes down there to fish. No elec, no water, no sewer yet, but it's coming along. That's his 'I'm off of work for 2 weeks' time, lol

Have a nice day everyone.

This is his little cabin, it will have to do for today's picture, lol

Footballmouse It sounds like you are making a very informed decision about your job choices. If you are in pain from standing alot 10 hours is a long time to be on your feet. And as you say, retirement plans are important too.

Congratulations, easy! That’s really something to look forward to!

EasyAs Congrats on becoming grandparents!
Oh, that's so exciting!! - Enjoy the magic
Congratulations @easyas123 !
Congratulations!!!!! What a great Xmas present.

Thanks everyone! We will know if we are getting a grand son/daughter on the 6th so before our quick WDW trip. We will see if we can not buy to much baby stuff there!

Mona, how are you making out?

Our 8 year old niece is staying the afternoon & overnight with us today, and she gets to dictate the menu so natchos it is! So I'm trying to get the "good" covered. So far she's had a apple and a glass of milk, and agreed to chicken & some lettuce on her natchos. She's hungry - again. I forgot how much 8 year olds eat!!!!!!

Just braved Walmart, wasn't taking a chance on the crowds tomorrow. The meat department had no ground beef, barely any chicken, the freezer case in that dept with the frozen turkey breasts and stuff was empty. The bread row was dessimated, the cat food row was bare. I haven't seen our huge store that empty in a long time.
I got what I needed and got out of there quickly

Dave got new vent pipes hooked up to the kitchen vent so I have heat again. And he got a vented cap so that some warm air will still circulate around the cellar. He didn't want me to pay him for the parts or the labor, but while he was downstairs getting the rest of his tools, I put money sticking out of the console in his car. He texted me a little while later telling me I shouldn't have done that. He's too nice for his own good sometimes.

Summer finally got the refund for the order Walmart cancelled on her and after another hour on the phone, got them to honor what the supervisor had told her, that they would give her 25% of the total back. Plus she got the second set of items ($259 worth) for free. They gave her a $60 refund and a $25 e gift card, and guess what. The lady told her it would take 5-7 business days, but it's already in Summer's bank account and not pending, just as available. So there was no reason for them to hold her S$259 for 10 days on the other order.

Good evening dear friends,

Smilies are still grayed out for me which I don't like at all. I will check on my Kindle and laptop to come.

Congratulations Grandma to be Easyas! You will be a wonderful grandma indeed.

Hugs Footballmouse and extra prayers. Please do take care of yourself. As sure have learned feet and legs truly are blessings that need to be tended to!

I'm sorry for not posting yesterday. I was having a hard day. Thank you all always for your extra love and prayers. I know it comes from your kind hearts. I appreciate it and you!

Grace of God is by His mercy I am doing a ton better today! Dad got us both (he found it helpful for a separate issue he has had) an over the counter store brand cream at CVS. Tried it this morning and while not instant it did work quickly and lasted hours! I just rubbed a dash more on and will apply a bit more late tonight. Such a miracle to not have the pain I did. Slept better today, too. Best of all it is not an ibuprofen cream. I think a little more natural which I prefer. Should any of dear you want the name PM me.

Vivian and I have texted a good deal and are on the same page. She is coming tomorrow. We will talk more then. I truly am blessed to have her helping me move forward as I am my Quacker family. Love to all.

Yes, I was reminded just recently that 8 year olds like to eat often! I spent Xmas day with my DD and her family and when it was close to time to leave for home, both grands wanted to come with me! Surprise, I wasn't planning on company, but always happy to have them! Oldest turns 9 today and youngest will be 8 mid January. Their mom picked them up the next day so a short and sweet visit.

Congrats on the new grandchild! My new one that is coming is a boy and after 3 girls that's nice!

Your life will change a bit. Grandchildren make you see the future. Enjoy your WDW trip! I go again for a bit over 2 weeks last week of February. Time is just flying along.

Flyingdumbo127 Glad the cream helped you. I hope Vivian can give you some ideas on next steps in your recovery.

Lynn The stores seem to be very much unstocked after Christmas. Market Basket was like that on Saturday. Glad Summer got things settled with Walmart. You are fortunate to have Dave to help with projects around the house.

Judique Kids do love to eat. My 6 year old DGS is eating like crazy now! He eats what is on his plate and then looks around for more. I think he is having a growth spurt. His brother who just turned 8 loves to snack but is not the best at eating meals. Sometimes I wonder how he is getting so tall. My younger DS kids snack and snack and grow like little weeds. My older DGD loves to tell me she will be taller than me soon. We measure up every time I see her.

Good morning. It will be another somewhat warm day, around 49 which is good for this time of year. I hope the sun stays out so I can go to the lake and walk. I am going to Kenny's for dinner tonight. Then I will come back to the condo. All the grandkids are trying to stay up past midnight tonight. I am not! :) I haven't slept well lately and will be trying to get some sleep. I am feeling somewhat down right now with another new year starting. I also know I have some tough decisions to make this year about my job and I need to talk with my kids and my 2 friends who are already retired. I want to make the best possible decisions with the best timing. Yesterday I made some changes to the Sedona trip in November. Since there are 3 of us going I changed my reservation to a single room. That way we have 2 bathrooms and since I get up early I won't disturb them. My friend may rent a car to get us from Phoenix to the resort. I told her I am directionally challenged even with GPS. Maybe this will be my retirement trip! And I can do a Disney retirement trip too later.

Have a good day And Happy New Year's Eve.

Good last day of 2024. It's been a year of ups and downs for a lot of us. But we've had our Quacker family through all of it, and I'm very grateful. I thank all of you for your understanding, support, and friendship through the years. :grouphug:

Having issues with Amazon and the post office again. Package mailed on Saturday, to be here Sunday. No pkg. Was in my city and 2 hours later showed as being in WV 2 hours away. Long story short, I called the local post office and happened to get the girl who worked there on Sunday and knew what happened. Amazon packs stuff in huge boxes going to a city. Has a code on the outside. Code said my city, but everything inside belonged to Wheeling WV. They got the box that said Wheeling, but everything inside belonged to my city. Everything had to be manually scanned and marked as missent, and sent back to the Amazon facility in PA to be resent. So now my package won't be here until Friday. Amazon issued me a full refund, told me to keep the shoes when they get here, and she filed a report with the packing/shipping facility in Pittsburgh where this all got mixed up. Someone not paying attention to what they're doing

No one can do their jobs right anymore. I got a bill for quarterly trash pick up Friday, and another one yesterday with a 'convenience fee' added. I called to try and talk to someone, had to wait 45 min for them to call me back. Somehow they all of a sudden had my account marked as paid by Visa when it actually comes out of the checking account. She had no idea why, since when she and I both looked at my account, it clearly said it came out of my bank. She fixed the issue, but I shouldn't have had to deal with it.

I got goosebumps this morning when the email came from Amazon that Wicked was on my streaming list now. I turned it on and have it playing in the background while I do some chores and some meal prep for tonight and tomorrow. I'll be watching it at least once today and again tonight.

Have a great day, and a safe, Happy New Years Eve.

Happy last day in 2024 to everyone. I am nostalgic today.

We lived in Ohio for 23 years and not frequently, we drove to WDW. I’m a National Park passport holder, and was going over my passport and came across the date of our visit to Plains GA and our stop at the Jimmy Carter NHP. It was in 2014!

We didn’t stay for Sunday Service, I hadn’t planned well enough.

Had anyone else here visited this site?

No and you peeked my curiosity a bit so I got on googlemaps to see where it is located since I travel through Georgia a few times a year. It's a little too far west of I 95 for a casual stop, so it will have to wait until I'm traveling further west.

It was very uplifting to rehash the Jimmy Carter history over the last day or so. I'd forgotten his Nobel (I forget lots of stuff) and really didn't know a lot about his humanitarian work. I did always feel that he was an admirable and honorable person.

We traveled I 75 coming from Ohio. Andersonville NHS…is another one in the area. It’s a tribute to all Prisoners of war…very moving.

Happy New Year to all! I hope 2025 is good to everyone.

Good morning. It is a rainy morning with temps in the 40s. I am heading to Jeff's in a bit for breakfast. He is making liege waffles. I looked them up and they are thicker sweeter waffles that don't need syrup and can be eaten with a knife and fork or with your hands. Last night I had dinner with Kenny and family. We had Chinese food. We had a birthday cake for Ethan and he opened his gifts. His kid party is this weekend. I am glad to have a day off from work and I am challenging myself to not even log in to work today. It is a holiday. I think some salaried people were asked to work today which I think is not really a good thing but they do it because it is expected. Being hourly there are more restrictions on what they can ask for. My kids (and Chris did) tell me that when I work on the weekends I am donating to the company. Yes I know but it lessens my anxiety for the week ahead. It's cheaper than therapy. LOL! But today I will do self care.

Have a great day.
