Hi!

We have had many ups and downs recently. On Dec 20, I will have laparoscopic surgery with camera to determine the extent of cancer in my abdomen, and Tom will be getting a PET scan, looking at his lungs…he only has 4 lobes.

Tom was in ER this morning, but it turns out that we can go to WDW for our 5 night stay. It will be a relaxing, mostly holiday decorations admiring trip. We actually plan to write our Christmas cards while at Wilderness Lodge. We have done that many times in our life!

Happy note. This came from one recruit we hosted on Thanksgiving. Because of my operation, we will not be at his graduation. This recruit actually took a selfie with Gus on Thanksgiving!

That stay may be our last time to host recruits, and that’s a sad thought for me.

Please keep me and Tom in your thoughts and prayers! Hugs to you all!

What a lovely note, @bobbiwoz!

I'm so sorry to hear about the stomach cancer  and I hope they find it's something manageable.

Try to put it out of your mind for a few days and enjoy your trip and the Christmas decorations.
I don’t think it stomach cancer…it’s a slow growing cancer. It probably originated in appendix, ovaries (not likely) or colon. From what he has given me to read, it’s something you live with, it’s treated with Hyperthermic Intraperitonial Chemotherapy. It’s something I hope I can get through. The surgeon was optimistic about my taking more cruises. I have to hope he spoke honestly.

Lovely note dear Bobbi, thank you, Tom, and Gus for making such a loving difference to so many including us.

Writing Christmas cards at Disney sounds like a merry tradition and wonderful break idea. I am extra thankful to God that you and Tom are able to go. Prayers of health to all three of you always. Remember all of us care!

Good Monday Morning!🌧️

Snowysmom - hope your having a good time in WDW this week!🏰

Bobbiwoz - good luck with the surgeries for you and Tom. That was a nice note that the recruit sent.

Saturday I baked a chocolate bundt cake and then made a cherry pie for our family Xmas party later that night 🥧. It was a lot of fun seeing everyone and all the kids. Mia had fun playing with the big kids and I think the 2 older girls liked playing with her instead of their brothers.😏

I was so tired yesterday. I woke up at 7:00 to let the dogs out and then went back to bed. I figured I would just lay there for about an hour but no, I slept another 3 hours!😴 Once I was up, I kept falling asleep on the couch. I had to work at Kohls from 4-10 yesterday and I was dragging. Once I was there though, I quickly woke up, we were busy. I guess the lack of sleep from the week caught up to me.

I bought some scratch off lottery tickets to toss in the kid's St. Nick stockings Friday night. They said that they couldn't scratch them off, something must have been wrong with them. They're just going to scan them at a store. Hopefully that means they're winners!💰

Pretty sure I'm going to make Manwhichs tonight for dinner. The Bengals play tonight 🏈(will probably lose, they don't do well in prime time) so I want something quick and easy. Plus I have laundry I need to get done.

Back to work, have a great day!

Good rainy Monday morning. This is the forecast for the next 3 days. Temps will be around 55. I'm glad it's not snow, but looking outside at the grayness doesn't help my mood. Just feeling blue.

Didn't do much of anything yesterday. Crockpot ribs was dinner. I baked some soft chocolate crinkle cookies, but then didn't feel like eating any. I watched a Christmas movie, but that's just making me sad, so I'm not watching anymore of them.

Off to put a load of laundry in and find something to do.

Have a good day.

This sounds good. Easy to make?
Very easy. I take a rack of baby backs, (you could also use another cut of ribs, but I prefer baby back), and cut it in thirds, season them however you like. Place them in the crockpot standing up so they fit. (I just discovered crock pot liners, no clean up, lol). When they're done, I preheat the broiler, put the ribs on a tin foil lined baking sheet, and brush them with bbq sauce. Broil until the sauce starts to caramelize. Fall off the bone tender. My friend does them in the crockpot and adds bbq sauce at the beginning, but I haven't tried it that way yet.

Good to know. I've been using the crockpot liners for years, they do make for easy cleanup. I've just discovered airfryer liners. I'll use those later this week.

Hi Bobbi. I figured that’s what you might be dealing with when you said you had the drain there earlier. I know two people who’ve had appendix cancer with the heated intraperitoneal therapy. Wishing you well with all of it and will keep you and Tom in my prayers. 🙏

Btw you are a cancer survivor from your day of diagnosis! Always around if you want to talk, as a fellow cancer survivor.

Slipping thread save to wish each of you a cozy and happy Tuesday. Extra prayers with love dear Bobbi. Dear Snowysmom I pray you are having a wonderful trip. Dear Pea, amen to anyone that cancer touches being a survivor. Extra hug to courageous you. I don't hate anything because that is too negative a word. If I did one thing would be cancer! Ever since I was very young it's been in my heart the prayer of cancer's complete disappearance in all forms and for all.

On a completely lighter and different note, I still need to decide what to get my dad for Christmas. I have a very special gift that requires my being back to normal to give him. God willing early next year, that will happen. Meantime I need to put my Santa thinking cap on.

Tuesday joy to all. I will check back in later.

Happy Tuesday Morning!

I have to eat my words from yesterday, the Bengals actually won last night. They beat the Cowboys 27-20.

Got a lot done yesterday when I got home from work. Switched laundry over that I had put in before I left in the morning, cleaned all the liter boxes and the backyard, pulled the geraniums out from the front. They started to bloom again a few weeks ago and I didn't have the heart to pull them out. Got the garbage to the curb and meal prepped for the rest of the week. Finally sat down and ate dinner around 6:00.

I won a really nice Yeti backpack style cooler from a raffle the other week. They dropped it off last night. Inside the cooler was a Yeti wine cooler, Yeti wine tumbler, a can coozie, and a tall Yeti waterbottle. Pretty good gift for a $10 ticket.

My computer keeps stalling on me and it's getting aggrevating so I'm stopping here. Have a great day!

Good morning. Sunny and 48 now, but they say rain later, temps 55 again. I just took the trash down and filled the bird feeders with no jacket on, so it's not too bad out there.

I dropped Christmas cards in the outgoing mail slot this morning. I always mail them on Dec 10. I still have to wrap and pack 2 packages to get out on Friday. I just do the click and ship, and have the mail carrier pick them up when he delivers the mail.

Going to make my grocery list and clean out the fridge, then I'm going to bake some cookies, just because I feel like it.

@footballmouse That was a great prize you won, enjoy! Re: Your geraniums. The ones I have in the huge pot are still blooming, and my rosemary is still going strong. I don't get why, but I'm not complaining.

Have a great day everyone

Yay dear Footballmouse. I'm so happy you won the raffle for some extra cheer.

Dear Lynn, thank you for mailing your Christmas cards. I still need to do mine. I did find some pleasant related post office news on Google earlier. I learned that the post office was at the time of the Google post not intending to raise stamp prices in January. May that indeed be true!

I did text Vivian earlier to wish her a good trip. She is on vacation starting today I believe for a week. I asked whether she can come next Thursday. Dad and I have a small Christmas gift for her that we think/hope she will really love. It seems as though Vivian enjoys traveling a lot. Target has a Wondershop world globe ornament with an airplane on it. So perfect and was just $5.

I also let Vivian know I am walking better on both sides. I definitely need her help because I'm hurting myself with the walker by pushing down on the handles. I am not sure how that started but it needs to stop!

Still need to figure out what to get my dad.

Do any of you regularly go to Walmart? Please PM me if you do and would be willing to check on a product for me. Thank you dear friends so much.

Thanks dear PollyannaMom. Enjoy a cozy at home Wednesday, my friend:hug:

Dad and I are old fashioned and prefer paper calendars. We get both wall calendars (usually from Dollar Tree) and engagement calendars. I am particular and always get the America's National Parks Engagement calendar because it recognizes days that are extra holy to me such as the start of Lent and Advent. Dad seems to alternate between the Sierra Club and Audubon Engagement calendars. God placed in my heart to get him as a Christmas surprise next year's Audubom Engagement calendar. It is my prayer that he marks many happy and healthy times in it along with every day joys. I believe now more than ever that each day is a small miracle from God to I pray get to serve in kind witness and with my dear dad too.

Extra morning love to each of dear you.

Good rainy morning. Weatherman lied when he said we would be 60 today like we were yesterday. Now we're only going to be 45. At least it's not snow, because it's dumping down the rain.

Finally one of the outside cats went in the cat house by themselves. I happened to be looking outside and saw Tiger sticking her head in the flap door, and watched until she went inside. She didn't stay in long, but at least she knows it soft and dry in there.

Off to do grocery shopping. Have a good day everyone

Good afternoon all. Dreary day here with heavy rain but the temps are in the mid 60's.

Been AWOL since I had so much going on the last week or so getting ready for the Holiday Tea at church. I am in charge of the raffle table and getting that organized and stressing over whether I have enough for the table gets me every tea. Thankfully I had mor than enough and we made around $1,000 on the raffle and 50/50. It was about the same amount we made on tickets so I was happy.

I was happier that I was able to a good deed. There is a woman who has been coming to the church with the group that joined from Nigeria, we are very multi-cultural. I guess I am oblivious or just used to neuro divergent people because I never realized she is either Mentally challenged or has dementia. Anyway we had a very nice silk flower arrangement donated by a local florist and this dear soul really wanted those flowers. We gave her a strip of tix as a donation as she had no money. Then I decided to put tix in the box as did my mom and at least one other person in the hopes of winning for her. I was thrilled that the winning number was the only thing I won that day. I gave it to her straight away and she was so thrilled that she "won." She told everyone that she won her flowers. I didn't even care that I won nothing else because I was so happy to see the smile on her face.

After the tea we went to Peddler's Village. I wasn't thrilled with that one but got my revenge on my granddaughter when I made her and her friends get a picture with Santa

Nothing like embarrassing teenagers.

Then Sunday I woke up to a killer stomach bug. I slept all day Monday and today is the first day I actually feel human again. I did have to postpone Fitz getting neutered as I was too dizzy to drive yesterday.

One last pic as I won't see LJ over the holidays. He is going to the Dominican Republic with his mom for Christmas. It will be the first holiday my granddaughter-in-law will have spent with her mother in about 7 years. I will miss him but glad they can make his grandmother in the DR happy to spend a holiday with him. He has gotten so big. I see so much of my son and grandson in him at
this age

It's hard to believe Christmas is 2 weeks from today. I may not decorate the tree as Fitz has decided he likes to climb up in it. My other 2 never bothered with the tree that much. Hope you all have a great day
