Good morning. Got down to 39 again last night, but at least we're going to hit 60 today.
Got errands and grocery shopping done yesterday. The prices are insane. Last week I bought a Marie Callender's frozen dinner and the price was $2.76. Yesterday the same dinner was $3.96. So I guess I'm paying for the labor it took to move everything from one end of the freezer cases to the other? Making it even harder to find what someone is looking for. It cost me $125 for groceries and I hardly bought anything. Most of it was cat food, cat snacks and litter. The only meat I bought was boneless chicken thighs from Aldi's. It's nuts. The price of gas went from $3.35 on Tuesday to $3.45 yesterday.
Lily works at
Walmart besides going to college and she had a scary situation the Tuesday night. A guy came through her line wearing a black silk robe. He started talking to her and was talking about blood, and skulls, showing her his tattoo's, and other creepy stuff. He asked her for her #, and she told him she had a boyfriend. He told her "We can just be friends". She didn't want to give him her number and he kept bugging her. He finally left, but she was so scared that on her break she ran out to her car and locked the doors. Called Summer to tell her. Summer told her to go back in the store and tell security. She was in such a hurry to get back in, she locked her keys in the car and didn't realize it until the store closed at 11. She did tell security and they found the guy on camera and put his picture up in the break room to warn other employees. Lily had to call a locksmith because State Farm's roadside assistance didn't answer their phone. It cost her $65 to get back into her car.
The kicker? Roadside assistance called her at 11 am YESTERDAY morning and told her they could get to her around 1. What the actual heck. Why pay for roadside assistance with that kind of service.
She has nothing but bad luck. We were in the market when she called Summer yesterday and said she got a parking ticket at the college, and has no idea why. She has a parking pass (that she paid $100 for), and wasn't parked in a no parking zone. She's going in to day to appeal the ticket and ask why it was given.
Debating whether to close up the AC unit outside for the year. Supposed to go to 75 this weekend, but that's not warm enough for me to need it anymore. Time to harvest all of the basil and parsley and dry them for the winter too. We had a light frost and that was enough to make them look 'done'. My huge petunia planters on the front porch have had it too. They lasted a long time. The big geranium on the back deck, which I thought was done, has rebloomed with a ton of new flowers, and the echinacea, which is only supposed to come up once, which I had cut down all the dead stalks a month ago, has regrown and is flowering again. This was the weirdest growing season ever.
Have a lovely Thursday
