Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

PollyannaMom I am sorry to hear about your cat. Babying her is a good plan.

Bobbiwoz Lovely picture. Gus beat his prediction after chemo because of the love and care you give him. He knows he is well loved and well cared for.

Good morning. It is a bit cool right now but temps are heading near 80. Kenny came by yesterday to change out the light bulbs in my walk in closet. That may have done the trick. He said they look like cheap lightbulbs. The builder probably got them used on Amazon. :) I went to his house for pizza for dinner and visited a bit. My DGS Ethan broke his arm on Thursday. He jumped off a swing at the playground and did not land on his feet. He broke all 3 bones right near the elbow. Luckily the fractures are not displaced. However, mom took him to urgent care instead of the ER so there was no orthopedic consult or a cast put on. Urgent care said to take him to pediatrics. Kenny was able to get Ethan an appt with orthopedics at his hospital on Monday instead of sometime later in Sept. Kenny was not happy she did not take him to the ER where everything could have been done at once. But Ethan is in a good mood and not in pain. He is doing what he can and Kenny helps him where he needs it. He starts school on Thursday and of course he broke his right arm. I told him he can join his Dad and I and be left handed.

My car maintenance appt got canceled as too many techs are out sick. I rescheduled for next weekend. I am heading off to Jeff's house in a bit. It has been a few weeks since I saw him and the kids.

Have a good day.

PollyannaMom, welcome home to your husband and son. Dad and I once had a friend from Thailand. Big hug on your cat and prayers, of course, too.

Bobbi, you know Gus is in my prayers. Thank you and Tom for all the love you give him. I would happily Gus-sit if I lived closer. Thank you for all the volunteer work you do.

Amen Snowysmom to your kind and true words for Bobbi. How is Clifford doing? Healing prayers for Ethan. I hope you have fun with Jeff and his kids. They are all so blessed to have you in their lives.

Lynn, thinking of you. Prayers you are safely home and resting after a cross country trip. I'm so grateful you had such an amazing time.

Extra paws and prayers to all Quacker pets. Love to each of you.

Good morning from sunny Denver

Leaving for home this afternoon. We got out of Hawaii just in time since the tropical storm is about to hit. I hope it doesn't do much damage.

I'm both sad and glad to be heading home. Sad that the adventure is coming to an end, but glad to see my furbabies. I hope they haven't forgotten me. I have to get Summer something for taking care of them. My sister in law ended up in the ER yet again for 2 days. Her heart rate keeps dropping into the 40's, and they have no idea why. She texted that they sent her home wearing some kind of heart monitor for a week, and then she sends it back for them to look at and diagnosis if there's any issues. It's always something.

I missed Lily's first day of college, so I can't wait to talk to her and see how she likes it.

@Snowysmom Sorry to hear about Ethan's arm. I agree with Kenny, he should have been taken to the ER. Hoping for a quick and full recovery

Have a nice Saturday

Such a cute Minnie plane, dear Lynn. Safe travels home and also prayers fof Summer.

Dear Snowysmom, I'm so glad to hear that about Clifford.

Speaking of Quacker pups and always prayers for their human companions, our friends, thinking extra of, AuntieMe3, Carol, Easyas, Footballmouse, Judique and Pea. Dazed and Kirby not sure whether either of you also have a dog. Thinking of you as well
Hugs to all and my deepest apology if I unintentionally left anyone off.

Glad to hear so many good stories and so much good news!

Lynn, really enjoyed hearing about your trip to Hawaii! So glad you’re planning another. :goodvibes If you have any pics from the aviation museum would you send them along to me to show DS? Thanks in advance!

Hugs for Gus and PollyannaMom’s kitty. They are getting such TLC! Toto had a vet appt this week and I was worried about a few things, but all turned out to be pretty good. He’ll be 11 this year so I worry. G is doing well, too - very loving and almost clingy lately! He had his nails clipped at the vet’s and he was so sad leaving the room. I wonder if he thinks he’s being taken away again when that happens. He’s a sensitive dog.

Had a busy work week. Today went to a festival and did an antique house tour. Stopped by DS’s work to say hello. Put a lot of groceries away that I picked up yesterday and today. (I hate doing that!) We stopped for burgers on the way home. A strange thing happened - an old school chum of DD’s works there. She’d recently lost her Mom and last time we’d seen her there I’d kicked myself for not going back with a little something for her, as it was a few days before XMas. (Like a Mom thing.) So today I’d randomly picked up some fresh flowers for myself at the festival, but when I saw her, I ‘knew’ they were meant for her, so after we ate DD and I went back in and I explained and gave them to her, along with a hug (asked first). She was touched and said it made her day. But really, it made mine. All of us were a little teary. Funny part was I’d really wanted to go elsewhere to eat, but DD and DH really felt like a burger, so we went there, it being a really last minute decision even to eat out, so I had no idea we’d go to the burger place or that she’d be there. But it was somehow meant to be. (I love stuff like that!)

Sunday we’re hoping to get some work done down in our family and storage rooms. I agree with whoever said it was nice that the weather seems to be getting cooler! I wound up throwing some plants away that had died, it made me so sad, as they’d been so beautiful! We talked to a gardening expert last week and she seemed to think they were overwatered, possibly from some rain storms we’d had (one of which seemed to be the last hurrah) but perhaps in general. No more hose watering next year, using just a watering can from now on, even if it’s more labor intensive. Getting ready to put out some mums soon - yay Fall!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend! 🐥

Pea So glad you were able to see DD's friend and give her the flowers. It was definitely meant to be. Glad Toto is doing well and Grady too.

Lynn I hope you are settling back home. Your trip sounded amazing and so nice to have such good memories with your friend.

Good morning. It will be much like yesterday with a cool morning and then warmer rest of the day. I saw Jeff and family yesterday. Sam is all recovered from this fall and gash on his head. I watched him play yesterday and told Aimee that is the one who will be keeping you busy with urgent care. He is just a wild and crazy guy! He wants to keep up with his siblings and just throws himself into everything. We played games, I had lunch with them, and talked with them about their summer. They go back to school Wed. Today will be a quiet day at the condo. I went to Market Basket, took a walk, dusted, had breakfast, and now plan to head to the lake to walk. I will probably do some work to keep trying to catch up from vacay. Being alone all day is not my favorite thing to do so I try to keep busy.

Have a nice Sunday.

Good last Sunday of August.

While it was nice to get home, see my kitties, and sleep in my own bed, I was sad to wake up this morning not seeing the ocean out of my window. But that's probably a good thing, since I didn't want to experience a tropical storm.

While it was cooler overnight, enough to sleep with the windows open, today they got closed and the AC back on, as it's going to 90 again.

Today is laundry and cleaning up the house a bit. Summer took care of the cats, but she didn't really do a good job sweeping up the litter in the kitchen. She was doing me a huge favor, so I can deal with it.

@Pea-n-Me I didn't take pictures of the aviation museum, but my friend did. She was in charge of taking photos that day. As soon as she gets them all from her phone to her computer I'll get her to send me a few for you. She's a procrastinator so it might take a little while, but I won't forget.

Have a nice day

Dazedx3 Thinking of you and hoping your knee surgery recovery is going well.

Good morning. Cool right now but getting warmer, in the 70s, later. I don't mind this weather. I did walk at the lake yesterday and did the longer loop around the trails. I like to listen to the birds and watch for butterflies. On Friday I walked I walked at the local park in Kenny's town and saw 2 beautiful yellow butterflies flying along with me for a bit. Nature is very calming. Tomorrow I am starting with a new therapist recommended by my other therapist. I am told she is very good with anxiety. I had a consult with her and she believes she can help. We shall see! Ethan is seeing the orthopedist today to see if he needs a cast instead of just the bandaging. Kenny believes he needs something more structured on his arm. At least Ethan isn't in pain and is getting along well.

Off to work. Have a good day.

Snowysmom:hug:, prayers that your new therapist is a good fit. I remember years ago walking along a quiet beach in small town Northern, CA. I always felt God's extra Presence beside me. I'm so glad you also find peace in nature. Ethan healing prayers, too and thank you for the reminder on our friend Dazed. Dazed:hug:

:grouphug:to all.

Good Monday Morning!

Lynxstch - Glad you made it home safe. I'm sure that was an amazing trip. If you're like me, after a trip I always think back "if this was last week, I'd be watching a sunset". I do this for probably 2 weeks. Planning another trip will give you something to look forward to.

Snowysmom - That's crazy that your grandson didn't go to the ER for his arm. I wouldn't have been too happy with the ex either if I was your son. ER, one stop visit, ortho-xrays-cast-done.

PollyannaMom - sorry to hear about your cat. Hopefully there's still some kick in her for a little while longer.

Bobbiwoz- so sorry to hear about Gus, he might just surprise everyone and go for a few more years.

I had an eventful weekend. On Saturday I did a little shopping at Kohl's and then I was heading to meet up with all the kids at a restaurant for a late lunch. I was on the highway connector and I heard a pop from my car. My brakes just went out! Luckily I was able to get over to the left emergency lane and glided to a stop. Called AAA but that was a waste of time. I called the boys to let them know I won't be at lunch. Luckily Evan had his truck and a trailer (they were going to possibly buy a car for Jacob) so they came and loaded the car on the trailer. I called 9-1-1 so that they could send a cop out to block off a lane so nobody was hit by a car. I was supposed to work at Kohl's yesterday afternoon but I called off since I wasn't sure when Evan and Jacob would be able to replace my brakes. They ended up having the car back to me at 1:30.

Since I had already called off work I figured I should be productive in some way. I organized 2 closets and filled 2 large bags to donate to St. Vincent dePaul. Also got a light put up in my kitchen.

Jacob called me late yesterday afternoon and said he rescued a dog from someone in his apartment complex. Seems they keep this dog on the balcony all day. He said he never saw a water bowl out there and the dog was out there everyday, no matter of the weather. He knocked on their door and asked if they really wanted that dog, if not he would take him. They said they didn't want him and sure enough, gave Jacob the dog. In the end, I ended up with the dog. He's a scruffy little guy, maybe a year old. He does great with my dogs but doubt he's ever been around a cat. I'm trying to find a home for him, my house is starting to look like an animal shelter.

Evan told me that they had to take Mia to the ER during the night (Saturday/Sunday morning). She was wheezing really bad around 3:00 am and when Bailey got home from work at 3:30 am, Evan was already dressed and had Mia ready to go. They were there for about 5 hours, she needed a breathing treatment and they gave her a steriod. Of course I got on Amazon and found a cow stuffie and a couple of books that could be delivered within a few hours. Evan said that when she woke up, she shared her donuts with her new cow.

That was my weekend, hopefully the week goes much smoother. It's supposed to stay hot, hot, hot this week. Back into the mid-90's. I have a dentist appointment later today so I'll be leaving work early (yeah!).

Have a great day!

Good morning

@footballmouse That was some weekend you had. :sad1: I hope the week goes much better. Poor Mia, I hope she outgrows the breathing issues. That's scary about your brakes going out, glad you got to the side of the road and that the boys were able to get your car and fix it. I hope you can find a home for the new addition to your animal shelter. You're right about sitting here thinking about where I was and what I was doing in Hawaii. I kept a journal while I was gone so I will remember everything we saw and did. At my age, who knows when I will start forgetting things.

We're gong to be near 90 again, with chance of storms this afternoon. I'd take bets that we aren't going to get a drop. Everything is so dry again. Summer watered the plants and flowers, so at least they survived.

I need to go to the store today for a few groceries, but I don't even feel like going out. I think I'm in a little 'post vacation funk'. It will pass, as all things do.

Have a great day everyone

Thank God, a ton extra I sure do, dear Footballmouse that you are safe and that Mia I pray is recovering, too. How scary! I remember my grandma telling me years ago that her brakes gave out once a canyon road. I'm so very grateful to God she was okay, of course, and that you were able to safely pull over and get help. Mia, prayers big time! Thank you and your family so much for all the love you give dogs. I don't understand how anyone could abandon an innocent pup.

Lynn, I'm not much of a journal writer (I have tried over the years but don't have the daily patience). What a great idea for you to have done that on your adventure. I'm so happy you were able to enjoy my friend.

Footballmouse So scary with your brakes. Glad it all worked out. I hope Mia is doing better. I love that she shared her donuts with her new stuffie. My youngest DGS gets very croupy and wheezing every time he gets a cold and ends up getting a steroid shot. I hope you can find a good home for the doggie. Thank you for taking care of him.

Good morning. It is supposed to be in the 80s today and sunny. Yesterday afternoon it rained a bit. Ethan got a cast of his arm. He was not happy about it. He told the doctor that he didn't think he needed a cast. The doctor told him that he thought he did need a cast. Kenny did prepare him for getting a cast and told him friends could write on it. He said he did not want anyone to write on it so he choose black for his cast color. He knows what he wants. They had a child life employee come by to talk with Kenny and Ethan. Ethan is very sensitive to noises so when he has the cast off, maybe in 3-4 weeks. she will come by with noise canceling headphones for him. Kenny said Ethan is doing pretty well once he got home. Today I see a new therapist. I will give her a try as the therapist I had been seeing says this one does alot for anxiety. I will give it a try but honestly I think I just want to move on and see how I do myself. It has been almost 3 years and while I will always miss and grieve for Chris I believe I have made progress and want to move on from all this therapy. My kids keep pushing for me to continue but as I say, they have no idea how I feel and they are young and inexperienced in life to be honest. I have had anxiety most of my life and I have been able to handle it with mediation and yoga.

Off to work. Have a good day.
