Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Got out this morning with Carol for a little shopping but first we had to stop by the post office to mail a couple of items. Then picked up some candles I had ordered from the sister of one of Lil Joe's baseball teammates. Hobby Lobby was next on our list. I picked up one of those lighted ceramic trees to put out this year as our Christmas tree. I only have to dust it then when Christmas is over it goes back in a box until next year. Also picked up a couple of Christmas gifts for the gkids and a gift for my Book Club Christmas Exchange. Costco was our last stop. Boy was it crowded. I got some Lance peanut butter crackers and a hooded robe for both kids. Carol picked up food items.

This afternoon I worked in the office. Joe has been working later lately and gets stuck in the traffic coming home. So dinner was later than normal. I cooked Chicken Pie Casserole and the cornbread sunk to the bottom instead of staying on top like it usually does. It was okay but there will be no leftovers. Joe put it out for the coyotes.

XO all.

P.S. Dad postcard surprise extra thank you to all who have already and said they will awns me postcards for this special gift. Grace of God and your kind heart's following His call, in friendship and care, this present has really grown Dad will truly be so touched come early February next year.

Good morning. We had nothing but rain yesterday, we had to have had close to 2" of it. This morning it's foggy and 41 going to mid 60's today. My new cabinet from Wayfair should be here today, so I want to vacuum and shampoo the dining room carpet this morning. I want to set the cabinet up and figure out where I want to put the tree. I may set it up tomorrow even if I don't decorate it yet. The house is too quiet and too bare looking after all my cleaning and I need just a little bit of cheer.
I've decided the only thing I'm making for dinner tomorrow is my great grandmothers 'french dressing'. I don't know why she called it that, other than that she's french, lol.. It's browned ground pork, ground beef, and homemade mashed potatoes, all mixed together. Add some chicken broth and poultry seasoning and that's it. Put in a casserole and bake. It's always best the day after, so I'm going to make it today. I 'm going to use 1/2 a lb of each meat, and use the other to make a small meatloaf to freeze for later. I bought myself a small chocolate parfait trifle for 1 at Walmart yesterday and that will be my Thanksgiving treat.

I went down to the basement last night to get laundry out of the dryer, and ended up spending 2 hours cleaning off shelves in the laundry room. I put all of my cat food on there instead, I think I have more on the shelves than Walmart had yesterday, lol. I have another bag of trash, another box for a yard sale and a bag for donations. I'm getting a little space cleaned and cleared at a time, but there's still so much to do. I wish it was Spring so I could have the yard sale and not have to look at the huge pile all winter, but it is what it is.

Have a nice day.

Good morning. Rainy one here and only in the mid 30s. I have not looked out to see if we got any ice or snow first. I pick up the kids at the bus today so am umbrella will be necessary. Therapy went well yesterday. She wants to start doing some somatic therapy. Plus she knows that I always have certain pictures in my mind that I keep going back to that need to be filed some place else for not so easy access. I sound like a computer! But, she is right. A couple of things keep coming to the forefront of my mind and they just make me cry.

We had our condo complex meeting last night. As expected the builder is coming off as a victim of the commission. He had one of his subcontractors, a wetlands guy, tell us that the commission is overstepping its' authority. The builder is now considering legal action. Some residents got a bit feisty with him and one almost got asked to leave. She was only being adamant but someone in the builder's entourage told her she will have to leave if she continues. People left not feeling any differently than when they went in. I sat with the woman who owns the condo attached to mine. We chatted a bit and then walked back to the duplex together and talked. She seems very nice. She has had water in her basement too. So we compared notes.

Working for 4 hours today so off to work. Have a good day.

Happy Thanksgiving Eve!🦃

Went to the grocery store yesterday for some things I need. It wasn't bad at all, I was pleasantly surprised.:figment:

Had a little bit better sleep last night. 😴

Tonight is Survivor night so excited about that 🙂. Not sure what's going to be for dinner, I might thaw out some pulled pork.

Watching the Today show right now, it's been 60 years since JFK was killed. I wasn't around for that but from what I've watched and read, I do believe it was just the 1 shooter. I've read the book written by Jackie Kennedy's secret service agent (he was the one who climb on the back of the car), it was very interesting. I think I read somewhere that he has another book coming out. I'll have to watch for that. I'm still on the library's waitlist for the Matthew Perry book.

I actually turned on Xmas music (WDW YouTube) and read my magazines yesterday. Haven't done that in forever.

Off to take my medicine, have a great day!

I was 9 when he was killed. I remember standing in front of the tv in my grandmothers house watching the coverage. From that day, until the funeral. I remember crying and being so sad, even at that age. To this day, the image of JFK Jr. standing there as such a little boy, saluting his father's casket is still fresh in my mind.

I was almost 8 when JFK was killed. I watched all the coverage and seeing it all was so sad. It is a moment in history I will never forget. I remember watching TV coverage when Jack Ruby killed Oswald. 60 years sure went by quickly.

Good morning. We had a lot of rain yesterday, but it has cleared up today and a bit warmer. No matter how cold it is in the morning I have to force my Ben to wear a hoodie at least. He doesn't get cold and would live in shorts all year if he could.

I remember JFK being killed also. I was 7 and in 2nd grade. I remember the teachers putting on the news in the classroom and just sobbing. I watched the special that National Geographic just did that is on Disney+. John Jr. saw all the military saluting, so he did the same thing. The assassination has always been an interest of mine since it was such a vivid memory. The documentary was extremely well done, and I am more convinced than ever that there was a huge cover-up and a rush to judgement. Something just always seemed off about the whole thing. I do applaud Jackie Kennedy for her handling of the whole thing and with such dignity in the face of such an overwhelming tragedy. I wonder why everything is still classified after 60 years if they weren't hiding something.

Thanksgiving always brings up a mix of emotions for me. My great aunt died right before Thanksgiving and her funeral was the day before. As we sat in the funeral home for the service the pastor talked about Dorcas and compared my Aunt Sis to her. Wouldn't it be wonderful if my Aunt Sis could rise from the dead as she did. We all swear my aunt frowned at that. It really was spooky that her countenance seemed to change. My aunt was a wonderful and charitable woman, but she hated the holidays between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Her mother died right before Thanksgiving and my aunt missed the funeral because she was in the hospital battling cancer. Remarkably she lived for over 20 years after that in a time when cancer was a death sentence.

Anyway, as we drove to the cemetery my grandmother was going on about Thanksgiving and the food she needed to get ready. My mom and I both looked at each other, and mom pulled a sharp right into a gas station leaving the funeral procession. I needed to use the pay phone to call my husband. This was before cell phones. It was about 11:45 and the butchers was closing soon. The turkey my mom ordered was still in the butcher's shop. Thankfully Jim was at his mother's house, so he borrowed her car and raced up to get the turkey. It was fresh at least so no worries about a frozen turkey. Mom was well acquainted with the cemetery, so we headed straight there and actually beat the funeral procession to the cemetery. A quick drive around and we got to the entrance as the procession was heading in. We were saved from a Spam turkey, and I think my aunt had a great laugh in Heaven watching the events. She was a great jokester and I miss her. I was expecting my youngest when she died. My daughter was named after my aunt in a roundabout way. Her name was Lizette which is a form of Elizabeth. My youngest is Beth.

I am going to my parents for dinner tomorrow and will bring Jim home a plate. He stays home and watches football. My dad used to be the same way. Sunday I will make my turkey and Jay will be here with his wife and LJ. I also invited Jim's friend for dinner. I am so looking forward to seeing LJ and my granddaughter-in-law is making Tres Leches for dessert,

Friday is the usual Black Friday shop til I can't walk anymore tradition with my daughter and granddaughters. Saturday I may be heading to Lancaster or Peddler's Village. I'm waiting on Ella to tell me what we are doing. Her birthday is next week but we can't do Lancaster on her birthday as it is a Sunday. She wants to go to Peddler's Village for Bacon on a Stick. Yes I am crazy enough to go for that but we will also enjoy the holiday decorations. Bust few days coming up.

Hope you all enjoy your Thanksgiving and have a great day before.

Hugs and love to all extra as we get closer to Thanksgiving. Sincerely I give God thanks for all of you always. Feel better dear PollyannaMom, the attachment is for you, my friend! Lynn, please, please take extra care tomorrow especially!

I was too young to remember when JFK was killed, but I feel like it still impacted my childhood a lot. Just about everyone I knew had pictures of him in their homes, and, of course, at school. (Imagine that today? 😅 Not referencing anyone in particular, but maybe both, lol.) And I live in “Kennedy country”, so his family was still front and center around here in the news, always with references to what happened. For a time I lived near their compound down the Cape (Cod) and used to be over by there a lot. There were a few connections here and there. I always felt so bad about what happened to them. All really tragic. I also remember the day his son was killed in the plane crash in the ocean (which I don’t even want to think about!). Just one more tragedy for that family. i have been following his nephew’s (RFK Jr) run for presidency this year. I hope nothing happens to him. (He has a stalker and other threats.) I really must get over to the JFK and Senator Ted Kennedy museums one of these days, it’s been on my to-do list forever. I’ve been to the smaller museum in Hyannis and the pictures take you back to another time and place. Thanks for mentioning that documentary @tazdev3225 I will put it on my watch list.

On a happier note, today is Toto’s tenth birthday! :dogdance:
My little old man, full of character and love! :lovestruc
I really don’t want to think about him getting older.
We got him as a puppy when I was in the midst of losing another dog.
He was always the young one.
Fortunately he’s healthy so not worrying! (La la la la fingers in ears!)

I was also not born yet when JFK died, but like @Pea-n-Me, live in the area he was from, so feel the influence.

The museum is really good! I took DS and a friend several years ago, and definitely recommend going when you get a chance, Pea. (I actually heard they were displaying the flag from his casket today. 🇺🇸 )

I'm currently watching a program about him on the History Channel.

Happy Birthday Toto:dogdance:Paws and hugs to you always and of course Grady!

PollyannaMom, prayers you are feeling better now.

Dad shared with me this morning his memories of learning about JFK. I wasn't born yet then either.

Wishing all of you a good rest of the afternoon :)
