Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Just had a heck of a downpour. I talked to Dave, he's going to have his brother call me tonight, or come over tomorrow when Dave comes to finish the sink plumbing down cellar, and give me an estimate. I don't really care at this point, just want it done!
SIL is so weird sometimes. She got discharged, and texted me that they were on the way over here, so they could pull up in the driveway and wave at me. It was dumping down rain, so all I could do was stick my arm out the door and wave, lol. I texted her and told her to get her butt home and stay there. She had a full mask on, niece didn't have one on. She thinks she's immune from everything :(

Every time you get rain I get it a day or so later.

@flyingdumbo127 I like your good night picture. Peanuts is my favorite cartoon.

Thoughts and prayers to all who need them.

Good morning. Another sunny day here with temps into the upper 70s. Yesterday I was so exhausted I just had to sit for a bit. Between playing catch up with work and not sleeping well it just caught up with me. I am still tired this morning but not exhausted. It is Friday so I am hoping I can take it easy at work and not be so crazy.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Friends :flower3:

Cooler Friday so far here. Dad enjoyed my remembering that today is his half birthday. I made him a card using Google found images that I uploaded into a template for creating my own Custom Cards. I like this site because of the easy-to-use card template plus, it offers either a two (traditional greeting card) or four (allows for 3 pictures) folds of a card. I use white cardstock to print out my own personalized card which, of course, I add stickers too :) Small joys of everyday moments and remembering to give God thanks for everything makes such a difference.

My new slippers did come late last evening from Amazon. I think they will be fine. The underlying trouble are the floors is this apartment. I was able to find out we got our current laminate flooring in June 2014. Landlords are required by our city to replace resident's flooring every 7 years. Ours is going on 10 years. Dad did have to end up paying half of the cost for these current floors which replaced at that time, ancient carpeting that was at least 20 years old (He moved in here in January 1994)! :scared1:I am thinking we may need to go back to carpeting. Which I am shocked to be saying since I am someone who truly thought hard flooring was so much healthier all around and better! I'm learning the hard way that it's not always :( Dad, though can be someone who does not care to contact management. I respect that part of that is because we are one of three longtime residents of the ten total renters in our building who are still grandfathered into rent control. Our rent for the same very small, old, 1/1 apartment is almost three times less (still a fortune for us which is of course why we haven't moved long ago) than what our next-door neighbor to our left is paying for her similar layout apartment! She is paying over 2X more than we are, possible 2 1/2. I definitely think carpeting may be needed! I just know my poor feet are not doing well. I never knew until this last week that dad's have had swelling and callus (thankfully I don't have calluses and the swelling for me is minimal and only began a week ago when I wore no slippers) started in 2014 with the new floors--how awful :( We have to do something. Prayers appreciated!

:hug:Pea and prayers that you please stay safe at work and take care of yourself, my friend!

:hug:Snowysmom, rest and in the Lord is vital indeed. Take time to do just that, dear friend.

Love to all and Happy Friday. I will come back later.

I am thinking we may need to go back to carpetin
Perhaps wearing a more substantial slipper or sneakers during the day would be a less expensive alternative to carpeting?

Good morning everyone. Dreary day here with intermittent rain, which is a-ok by me as it keeps the grass green vs. the brown sparseness we often get this time of year. Not much going on this weekend, some family coming over for a b'day dinner celebration on Saturday but that will be super lowkey and not a hassle. No plans on Sunday.

I'm off on the road this afternoon, planned a grocery order pick up on my way home-plus I've got to stop at a farm market on the way home for some vegetables. I might try Judique's recommendation of Ma & Pa's market since I'll be driving right by it twice today. It's on one of the main drags to go down the shore (DE &/or MD) which unfortunately for me is also the way to my various jobsites in the Georgetown & Millsboro, DE areas. Of well, at least I'll be going against the traffic on my way home.

Thanks dear Easyas. These are the new Slippers that came last night. I'm wearing my winter booties at the moment just because it is a little cooler but will be wearing the new ones this weekend. I sure am praying they make a difference! Dad, only wears socks around the house which as I sure learned is the culprit! I have tried for such a long time to get him to wear slippers but he so far hasn't wanted to do that. He definitely should try that out for sure!

 and safe:car:prayers. So glad you do have a quieter weekend ahead! You need extra rest! :)

Good afternoon. I had things to do this morning, and Dave called earlier and said he was on his way over. He came and finished the plumbing for the bathroom sink in the cellar, helped me put slider pads on the new stove to make it easier for me to pull out. He and his brother are going to come over on Sunday so Daryl can look at what needs to be painted. He said he can start anytime. Dave said he bets that Daryl can paint an entire room, including trim and ceiling in about 6 hours. So that would take 3 days compared to the 4 weeks it took the other lady to paint 3 rooms. Dave is really upset with her. Not only about this job, but also because she owes both him and his 'wife, not wife' money. She won't answer their phone calls or texts either. But he knows where she lives so he said he's going to stop by there and have a talk with her. The guy next door came over while he was here, asking him if he wanted to buy a bucket of pipe wrenches, for $10. Dave couldn't get the money out fast enough. Our guess is he stole them from a job he was working on. He looks awful, apparently on drugs again (neighbor, not Dave). He did tell me he was going to finish cutting those hedges soon. He apparently got into it with the guy who hired him to do it (neighbor up behind our yard), yesterday about it taking so long. All I know is that the parts he did cut down, are already up almost a foot again and he's going to start all over again.

it's sunny and hot out, heading for 90, chance of storms this afternoon. I've got to go put everything back in the cellar where it belongs and do some laundry. Have a nice day everyone

It is a sunny/cloudy day today. Coming back from my walk I noticed a sweet flower smell near the garage. I looked over in the flowering bush that is at the front of the house and 2 beautiful pink and white lilies were growing right through the bush. I have never seen them before. I look at the flowers in front of Kenny's house all the time and since he has lived here. Never saw them. I would notice them because they are so lovely. Here is a picture.

@Snowysmom , beautiful lilies, and glad they had such a beautiful fragrance for you!

Today we booked our pre cruise stay at Paradise Inn in Mount Rainier NP. We are going next July/August time period, and then doing a 7 night cruise with older DS and his whole family and some friends! This DS is a planner like me, and really wanted to stay in the park, so we booked. It makes the whole trip more real. The cruise is a gift to DS’s family ( from someone other than us) because DS and DDiL both turn 50 next year.

Good evening.

Cool here tonight which is nice. I had a busy day but there were 2 highlights. One was getting to see LJ for a bit. My grandson missed work all week with a bad stomach bug so no paycheck. Of course he needed another advance on the work he will be doing, possibly one of the basement doors and wall. Both doors need to be replaced and the walls rebuilt. LJ was a little shy at first but he loved giving the dog some treats. Then he spied my peanut butter cups. He put down the cookie I had given him in favor of my candy. What can I say, I gave them to him. He is getting so big and is really smart. He is basically bi-lingual. He even knows his colors and can count in English and Spanish,

The second highlight was going out for ice cream sundaes with my parents. Today was my Gram's 116th Birthday so my mom and dad joined Jim and I for sundaes. Watching my parents was funny though. My dad kept spilling his ice cream all over the table and himself. At least he had fun and we celebrated his mother.

Tomorrow I have to drive to Maryland for a baseball tournament for my grandson. I will miss the first game because I am not getting up and driving for an 8 AM game. Jim's best friend is going down with us for the second game. Not sure I will go back down on Sunday. It will depend on what Jim has planned for my birthday.

Hope you all have a great weekend if I don't get back on.

:grouphug:dear Taz! I can't tell you how happy I am and thankful extra to God that especially over your birthday weekend you had a fun day--yay! God Bless precious LJ indeed. Extra 💕on your Gram. I believe my own beloved Grandparents joined your Gram in celebrating her birthday today. They both (Grandma especially) loved 🍨I know they are also thankful God made us friends.

:hug:Dazed, always a blessing to see a post from you.

Doesn't the attached picture look like a perfect place to dream about visiting over the Summer? :D I Googled and there is a real Sweet Dreams in FL. To any of you headed to WDW, perha[ps you can check it out and enjoy a treat for the rest of us there, too. I'd love to hear about it if any of you do go.

Meantime good night and love to all :)

I bought a cantaloupe, some peaches and a few tomatoes. The peaches were blah, the melon delicious and the tomatoes fine, but I'm pretty much biased on tomatoes since I've been harvesting my own.

The taste of my fresh tomatoes is outstanding, especially when I bit into a Panera salad tomato last week and it was tasteless.

My vines are now all scraggly and there are only a few left of the bigger ones. I think I will do some trimming and fertilizing and hope for a resurgence. I think it is that they are container grown and I took a break from looking out for them while out of town and the weather has been July brutal.

Last year my in ground cherry tomato was still vital in November up until I pulled it out of the ground as it was so overgrown. Not so with this one, but it's still producing just not abundantly. I had actually hoped to transfer this years plants into my greenhouse to see what they would do.

Just to be clear my greenhouse has not been used efficiently other than as shelter for me at times. I'm hoping since I moved it to a closer location with a solid floor that I'll use it better in the future. Last year it grew a large supply of weeds and when I haphazardly covered the ground with some rubber tiles, I provided a safe haven for ants and spiders, making me not even want to go into it.

This year it's much better.

Good morning all! DD arrived back from a little trip and managed to bring covid with her - airplane travel from Florida I'm assuming is the culprit. Hopefully she will feel better soon. Thankfully her symptoms appeared before she came to pick up the cat. Both myself and her friend asked her if it was covid yesterday so she tested, used two tests and both positive. She'll probably work from home next week.

@Judique I hope your DD feels better soon.

@tazdev3225 Early Happy Birthday!

@dazedx3 Thank you for name of the flowers. It just seems like they appeared out of nowhere and they are so beautiful. I love the name.

It is sunny today with temps going into the 70s. Not too bad. I have taken a walk. Kenny and I went to Wegman's for some shopping. I haven't been to the store since before our NH trip except to pick up some salad for lunches. I will be by myself today and tomorrow. I plan to see Jeff and family tomorrow. Today I may go wander around Kohls for a bit, take another walk, and maybe go find a trail that Kenny and I walked before. I am having a supper of comfort foods: Tomato soup and a baked cheese sandwich. I really need some of that.

Have a good Saturday.
