Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

60s is a :sunny:day in Winter, out there, PollyannaMom, you are so right. For me, that is still cold, though. I told Sue last week when she shared about sitting on her porch most mornings that she must be more warm blooded than me, lol. She did have the 🍩print blanket I had given her one year for her birthday. Sue loves donuts.

I remember years ago when I lived in Northern, CA thinking lower temperatures were warmer than they would feel out here because for there, they were. All relative. Truly how grateful I am to God for all.

Good afternoon! Just finished doing laundry, vacuuming, straightening up, etc. I did finish one project yesterday :worship:so I am free today to start on another today. After my shower, that’s what I’m going to do.

I forgot to say yesterday @footballmouse what a great dog person you are! Smart to keep the dogs separated if they’ve had issues before. And to buy him a bed, that’s sweet. :lovestruc It stinks for him to be alone in a room but better that for a few days than bigger problems when he’s not invited back, etc. Could you consider a gate? We’ve had to use ours lately because Grady likes to wake people up with a cold, wet nose.

Snowysmom I understand how it feels to feel like you don’t really have a place of your own right now. (I was that way for a while after I left my parent’s house.) Soon enough, my friend, soon enough. Hang in there. Oh, and try not to be so hard on yourself. You’ve been through a lot.

Glad people liked the poem yesterday. It really spoke to me and I saved it,

Yesterday we made breakfast, as everyone was home, then we made the eggplant parm and manicotti for dinner. Good, but filling. I could only get 1/2 manicotti down after I had the eggplant (my favorite). Idk what we’ll make tonight, maybe something easy. Been craving grilled cheese and tomato soup - good day for it. We did get back to Aldi and bought a case of the Marsala sauce. 👍🏻 I also left my nice scarf in the restaurant Saturday after my haircut. DS stopped by there last night to pick it up for me. I was glad someone turned it in.

Weather here stinks. 38 and cloudy/misty. I heard we have a storm coming in too, not sure if that’s still the case. I’ll be starting a work stretch so it doesn’t matter too much other than the commute. I booked an orthopedic appt to have my arm looked at. I can’t raise it more than halfway without pain. 😬 I’m guessing they’ll do an MRI and send me to PT, which I welcome. I also made an eye appt at Mass Eye and Ear to have my eyelid looked at. I should probably make my annual physical appt and maybe mammogram, too, today.

That’s about it. I hope everyone has a nice day. 🐥

:grouphug:Pea and continuing extra healing🙏my friend. I'm so sorry you are still going through so much. Know always your Quacker family cares and we're here for you. God Bless your son for rescuing your scarf and the kind person that turned it in. I absolutely believe in the kindness of people at heart. Great reminder to give God extra thanks for all He places in our path that make a difference to us and vice versa. I also remember how grateful I was years ago to get a call from a restaurant that grandma and I went to every week that they had my wallet and the same for both dad and I when a kind lady had found his cell phone. We are so blessed extra by every day acts of care and kindness indeed. You deliver so very many of them to all you come across:thanks:Enjoy, Snowysmom, I hope you do likewise, your grilled cheese and soup.

Dad made good time at the laundromat and Ralphs. Thanks to God, he just got home. Off to help him put away clothes and groceries. Have a great rest of the morning AuntieMe3 (prayers you are well today and stay warm and dry in the expected rain later this week) and afternoon everyone. Remember to tell someone you love and care for that you do. Today:grouphug:

I was over near ours today, so I bought a jar to try!

They're still listing the "event" on Accuweather, but with an inch or less of accumulation.

I also remember how grateful I was years ago to get a call from a restaurant that grandma and I went to every week that they had my wallet and the same for both dad and I when a kind lady had found his cell phone.
We've had kind instances like that before as well. Once, DS dropped his phone at Great Wolfe Lodge, and someone turned it in to the desk. And years before, he lost one of those kids' wallets in a restaurant booth, and someone mailed it back to him!

I do agree that most people are nice and will do the right thing. ::yes::

Hello everyone, we are supposed to get a combination of rain ,sleet, ice, and snow tomorrow and Thursday. My appointment with the financial planner was cancelled again, it was supposed to be last week but we had a snowstorm too.
I am really frustrated with Social Security, the lady I spoke with said to ask for her when I made a decision….just to call her. I called and was told no, another appointment would have to be made. So now I have to wait another 6 weeks, and then the benefits won’t begin until the next month.

I had lunch with an old friends yesterday, I really had to force myself to go, but I’m glad I did. She was very understanding and sympathetic. We were college roommates for 3 years. We have tried to keep in touch through the years but it has been a challenge. She never married or had a family so at times, we only got together maybe once a year. She is building a home and asked if I’d like to go shopping with her and we even discussed maybe doing some traveling together in the future.

Pea… I have seen that poem before and it is comforting. I also find this very helpful……
”You don’t move on after loss, but you must move with. You must shake hands with grief, welcome her in, for she lives with you now. Pull her a chair at the table and offer her comfort. She is not the monster; you first thought her to be. She is Love. and she will walk with you now, stay with you now, peacefully if you let her. And on the days when your anger is high, remember why she came, remember who she represents. Remember Grief came to you, my friend, because love came first. Love Came First.

Hola everyone.
Not much to report on my end. Demo of the basement continues to go well. I came home to find my husband taking the control panel (it was one that was incorrectly made for a WWTP by the electrician so husband co-opted it and converted it to a gun safe, it's about 3-4X's the size of a fridge) that was built into the storage area of the basement out on rollers, so that is done. We have a new gun safe/personal safe on order, it will be installed within one of the walls as we remodel. Old bathroom torn out and a few walls down. I guess I need to get myself down to the Hope Depot or Lowes and get a new sink for the bathroom, pick out the floor for the kitchenette & bathroom, and select/make arrangements for the new carpet. Maybe this weekend....
Dinner this evening was grilled chicken - boneless thighs, and a bit of mashed potatoes for my husband. Not sure what dinner tomorrow will be - either pasta with meat sauce or pot pies. Pasta will probably win out, I have an appt. at 5 and one of the dogs has a vet appt. at 5, so both of us will not even be home till 6 or later since both appt.'s are 30 minutes from home. It's gonna be a long day for me, I've got to be up and out of the house by about 5 or so to head down to a jobsite for a 7 AM meeting.
Nothing on my plate Thursday, mammogram on Friday afternoon, followed by possibly a putz around Target and/or Home Goods.

Could someone pass me a peanut butter hot fudge/brownie sundae - hold the cherry? I've got a wicked sweet tooth this evening!

It was beautiful here today except for severe weather for five or ten minutes when our pet walker was walking Gus, and then the sun came out and it was beautiful again. I heard some areas around Trenton had destruction.

We sent a soil sample to Rutgers today. I am hoping for a better harvest next year, and hoping to get some ideas about how to improve the soil.

Hey I meant to ask you, what did you wind up getting for your son’s wedding? As in dress? I have to find something now for a semi-formal wedding!

I took 17 dresses into the JC Penny changing room...walked out with 4. Took 2 back, would have taken 3 back but didn't realize that one of them was marked down and couldn't' be returned. It wasn't the one that I wore, one I wore had a bit of a paisley print of all things, but fit and looked decent. Other one is red, once I lose 10 lbs it will look great
They are having a wedding party at our farm this summer...which means ANOTHER dress search!

I love those stories, PollyannaMom, thank you for sharing! One time dad left his Driver's License along with a couple other important cards at a gas station's convenience store. the kind cashier made sure dad got them back. Good people indeed!

Lynn, many prayers by now Don's chair is long fixed or much better replaced!

Pea, enjoy your chocolate frosted flakes! When I was able to eat cereal that sounds like something I would have liked. My grandma might have, too! She sure had a sweet tooth.

Dazed, that is beautiful! Thank you so much, my friend for posting that for us. Very thankful you had a such a nice lunch with your friends!

Easyas, you will look just lovely! I'm so glad you will get to be part of your son's wedding what a blessing to him and his bride to be!

Bobbiwoz, you, Tom, and Gus all please stay dry and warm!

Sweet Dreams everyone and good night with love.

Happy Wednesday and for all you Catholics out there, Happy Ash Wednesday.☔

Won't make it to church today but the hospital is offering ashes throughout the day so I'll stop by and get that. 😇

I was busy after work yesterday, didn't get home until 5:30! Left work and went to my merit increase meeting at my other job. Not happy with the raise but nothing I can do about it. I did ask if there was a "town forum" that I could go to and ask why certain positions (mine included) are paid $2 less per hour for the shift differential. Shift differential is based on the hours you work, not the position or degree. My manager gave me a couple of committees that I could talk with so I'm going to look into that.:grouphug:

Stopped at Sam's and grabbed a chicken & celery, I'm planning to make chicken salad this weekend.

Final stop was at Ollie's to get G a bed. I also had to get her & Carly a new toy. Boomer doesn't play with toys so I don't bother getting him one. G seemed to like her bed, she laid down on it a couple of times when I was playing in the room with her. I hope she used it last night. She loved her new hedgehog toy I got her.
Could you consider a gate?
All the dogs are big dogs so jumping a gate wouldn't be a problem for them. G will go crazy even if she sees Carly so she needs to stay behind closed doors.🐶:dog:

I'm going to head to Evan's soccer game tonight. I'll pass by Meijer so I'll stop there and grab the cat food :cat:. Other than that, that's all I have going on today (besides work 😒). Have a great day!

Good morning all. Raining very lightly with a touch of sleet mixed in. Not amounting to anything. Going shopping with Sister-in-law in a little while. She is heading in the same direction and she loves driving me around in the new truck. I woke up in the middle of the night with a thought about the bathroom remodel. The commode and vanity are sitting in their boxes in Dave's garage. How can we possibly start the whole thing without knowing if both of those are totally intact? I am going to call him and ask him to open the boxes and check. If they are broken, they would have to be reordered which means another week or more of waiting. I don't know if he even thought about that.

Have a good day everyone.

@easyas123 --I was late in reading your post, so save this for tonight--

@dazedx3 Thank you for the quote. My therapist says that the immenseness of grief is because of the immense love that you have for Chris. You do have to learn to coexist with grief so it makes sense to invite grief to the table. I am glad you had a nice dinner with a good friend. Those moments help alot. I find the making plans to travel with a friend helps too. I am going on a Disney cruise with a wonderful friend who has been with me through all this. Social security is such a nightmare to deal with. It took me several calls just to get an appt and then it was months away. I was so grateful when it was settled. I hope it goes well for you and you can finally meet with your financial planner. :grouphug:

@Easyas I hope you find a nice dress for the wedding.

@Pea-n-Me I wish I had an Aldis nearby to try the sauce. Sounds yummy.

Back to work. Just taking a much needed break.

@Snowysmom , Enjoy your DCL cruise with your good friend. We just planned another one for January 2024.

We won’t go to church for ashes, but my readings for Lent will be “ Lenten Reflections with Pope Francis.” Best wishes and prayers for all who will be on a Lenten journey.

The Making of the Disney Wish is showing now showing on Disney Plus. We watched it the other night. Interesting how they developed the ship. Magic and Wonder were built in Italy, but subsequent ships were built in Germany. Watching the similar show about how they made the Disney Magic is what made me want to take our first Disney cruise years ago. I’ve heard and read complaints about the Wish. @bobbiwoz is that the ship you were on? What did you think of it? Which ship are you planning to go on @Snowysmom? We’re itching to do another. DS had us on the website after the show. Prices aren’t what they used to be! But at least the kids can help pay their own way now.

Our first Disney cruise with the four of us cost just $1600! Four night on the Wonder. I also learned how to keep costs down when we did them more frequently. Honestly I’d like to go back on Wonder again, I love it so much. (I think I mentioned it got me through a year of cancer treatment so it holds a special place in my heart.) But ultimately it will probably be the itinerary that dictates when and where we go. I’d like to do Alaska and Europe. I saw they have a Southern Caribbean now, too. Lots of choices. Tips and photos add a huge amount to the cost, for me, anyway. One of my favorite pics of our family was taken during formal night on the Magic. It hangs in my bedroom to this day. I like seeing it when I wake up. Enjoy the planning!
