Thanks, Snowysmom. I'm so glad you did enjoy the movie, my friend. Warm soup sounds so good. Dad and I will be having some when he gets home.

I did enjoy watching worship. Carol, I loved how Hymns were interspersed between Scripture and other readings. The evergreen references, of course, also reminded me of Evergreen🌲Thank you again for all your hard work in preparing the Sanctuary for today's service.

Dollar Tree didn't have much of anything. Dad may go to a smaller Dollar Tree when out in the Valley in a couple weeks. Target, FYI, next weekend, Target store gift cards will be 10%!

Chilly-ish in here for me at the moment. 🙏each of you are snug and enjoying Sunday.

Sun came out for awhile. They said more rain and gusty winds later this afternoon, but so far nothing. I have both bathrooms cleaned and decorated, and just finished cleaning the spare room and decorating that. Down to 3 rooms left,,but taking a break. My back is protesting at me doing more right now

@Snowysmom Just a suggestion. Maybe find a children's giving tree, or angel tree, and take a couple of names. That might lift your spirits up a little. Find yourself a new tradition to start this year, and continue it after you move, even if you don't feel like it. Might get you through some of the hard days

This calendar works well for me because it is glitter free and contains Scripture
I remember you mentioning not liking glitter before and I meant to ask why - is it an allergy or something?

I hope listening:music: to your Christmas mix will bring back lots of good memories. What are some songs you have on it? :)
I just looked to see if there was a list inside the case, and there wasn't, so I'll have to play close attention next time I play it and write them down.

It has some standard holiday songs that would have been popular in the late 70s or early 80s - Rudolph, I think, some Alvin and the Chipmunks, "We Wish You a Merry Christmas"...

I do remember that we purposefully put "Who's That Up on the Roof" right after "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause". (One of the lines in it refers to the other song.)

Lynn I do buy and donate toys to Toys for Tots. I always enjoy the shopping for them. It is a family tradition which I will carry on as long as I am able. My kids do it too and that makes me happy. I like that you decorate the bathrooms for Christmas. My mother did that too.

PollyannaMom I enjoy the songs from the 70s and 80s. We had collections that included alot of those songs. Have fun listening to them.

Good evening thread save!

Dad did enjoy the Chicago scenery in the movie. We didn't get much into the storyline. Recording on Thursday night, "I'm Glad it's Christmas."

Lynn, my back is protesting just reading what you shared, yikes! REST! Hug and kindly wise suggestion to Snowymsom.

PollyannaMom, extra hug, of course to you as well, I don't care for glitter because it has a way of getting quickly all over everything! Young kids love it, me, not so much. Enjoy your tape.

Snowysmom, I also like some songs from the 70's and 80's. Thank you:hug: for donating to Toys for Tots. Dad and I will be donating to Channel 7's Spark of Love Toy Drive by dropping off a few toys to the Fire Station closest to us. Awesome that both your mom and now Lynn decorates the bathroom, too. Why not? It's a room that needs to be made festive, too :)

Sweet and warm dreams, friends.

Good Monday morning!🌧️

I worked this weekend so I obviously didn't do anything. I met up with the kids on Thanksgiving morning at Cracker Barrel for breakfast and then everyone went their separate ways. I stopped at Meijer to get a bigger pot that I can put in the oven for my potato casserole I made and I grabbed a pair of slippers for Mitchell's St. Nick stocking. They had their usual BOGO $1 shoe sale so I grabbed myself a new pair of slippers.

Next I went up and visited with Mia for about 3 hours. 💓
@footballmouse How is Mia doing?
She's doing so good. I talked to Bailey last night and she said she's up to 3 lb, 14 oz. and she tried a bottle on Friday and did good, she's been taking 10 ml, a little bottle is 60 ml so she has a little ways to go. Praying she keeps up this good progress so she's able to be home for Xmas.🤞

We had a Thanksgiving dinner at work Thursday night, everyone brought food. I made my sister's potato casserole and it was a big hit. One of the nurses asked if she could take the left overs home.

Friday I slept a few hours in the morning and then headed out to pick up all the items I won on the auction website I get on. That was a huge haul and it took me a while to rearrange my car so everything would fit.

Working from home today so I'll be able to get some things done around the house. I ordered a keypad locking system for my front door. Last weekend I was locked out of my house because the electricity was knocked out all night and I don't have keys to my doors since I always go through the garage 🤦‍♀️. I had to climb through a window to get in. The boys are coming over this coming weekend to do some repairs around the house for me so I'll have one of them install it.

Bobbiwoz - that was so nice of you to have the cadets to your house on Thanksgiving. And how great is it that your son wants to continue the tradition! That was so sweet that one of the parents sent you a thank you text. I remember when Evan was in Alaska for his first Thanksgiving, I was a little depressed that he wasn't home and the thought that he was by himself wasn't helping. He told me that morning that his squad leader and his wife were having the platoon to their house for dinner. Made me much happier and I was able to enjoy the day.

Well that was a small book that I typed so I think it's time to stop and get back to work. Have a great day!

Good morning all. Gray and cloudy right now, but the sun is trying to peek through. Only going to be low 50's today though. I plan on decorating the dining room and living room, that will only leave the kitchen , and I am leaving most of that until the new floor is down.

@footballmouse How wonderful that you got to hold Mia for 3 hours! And whoo hoo that she's drinking out of the bottle and gaining weight. How wonderful that would be if she could come home for Christmas. That would be a miracle and the greatest gift any of you could ask for!~ Been there and done that about getting locked out of the house. Climbing in through a window isn't fun in the least!

Off to get my day started, have a great one

We have a few of these, on our barn entry doors and one on our house. They are nice - convenient. We actually plan on installing more of them (our house has more doors than I care to count!!!) I do have one recommendation for you that we found out the hard way...they have no warning (at least ours don't) that the battery is going dead. It just stops accepts your code and won't open. I know they lasted more than a year, but not sure exactly how long. We are going to start replacing them once per year 'just in case', so something to think about.

Good Morning, everyone,

A little chilly for me here as well. I did enjoy a Monday cocoa with my breakfast. I just spoke to a very nice fireman at the station closest to us. I had forgotten to ask yesterday when I called about the toy drive whether they would enjoy some homemade cookies. I wasn't sure due to the ongoing pandemic that any homemade treats could be accepted. He kindly said that wasn't necessary but would be greatly appreciated. That will mean a lot to me to be able to do. A small way to give extra thanks to the firefighters for all their kind service. Dad will soon be going to the 99 Cent Only Store, Pavilions and a couple other nearby places including a second Ralph's near us (not the one he will go to tomorrow) that said yesterday they have small potted Christmas trees. We have a 20% off digital coupon on Christmas trees and greenery our Ralph's card that expires tomorrow. Hopefully dad can use that today. I will post a picture later if he does bring a 🌲home

I hope it warmed and lightened up a bit, Snowysmom and that you had a peaceful🚶‍♀️my friend.

Footballmouse, continuing Baby Mia🙏. What a blessing to get to hold her for so long. God Bless Evan’s squad leader and his wife, what a kind and wonderful thing to have done for many serving. Love that you also celebrated Thanksgiving with your coworkers.

Amen, Lynn, about Baby Mia. Decorating today sounds a ton better to me than the backbreaking work you did yesterday. Please take it easier today, dear friend!

Prayers your DH has a smooth and easy day at work, PollyannaMom and that your own 🛒 goes well and quickly, too!

Easyas and Footballmouse, I never heard of lock keypads outside a house. My grandma used to have an alarm system keypad inside her Houston apartment that she had to turn off each morning (after activating over- night) and when she came home from being out. The same was true at some preschools I worked at. Do the keybpads replace traditional keys? That could be handy, nothing to lose! Wishing you and all your :dogdance: crew a warm and happy Monday.

Have a good Monday everyone. I'll check back in later.

Ours is not an alarm, but just a lock replacing the traditional key one. (We still have a deadbolt we can use from the inside as well.)

I was nervous about it at first, but it is handy, especially when we have someone coming to feed the pets when we're not home. No running the key to them the night before, etc.

🌲I do hope your dad finds a tree you like!🎄

LOL Mona,, decorating is what I did yesterday along with cleaning. I clean every room before I decorate. I have the dining room done, and have started on the living room. Just have to wash the windows and put the curtains up. Tree will get done tomorrow

Just heard from Summer. She got a call that they have an opening for tomorrow, so she will have the surgery they couldn't do 3 weeks ago. She is scared as her Mother isn't here this time, but her best friend is taking her. And now she says the shoulder she had surgery on is bothering her again and she can't even lift her arm. She is in bad shape..bad arm, can hardly walk, etc etc etc Prayers for tomorrow would be greatly appreciated

I am sitting here watching Destined at Christmas on Great American Family network. It is a very Hallmark-like movie. I need to get off my butt and do something. I should at least put up the manger scene while watching. We did bring down some of the Christmas decoration boxes last night. We got the new little tree put up and started the decorations. Actually Carter and Tessa each put one on. They came to dinner last night for leftover stew.

The big news here is that Jack and I finally "pulled the trigger" and started to book a trip to Hawaii in the spring. The hotel we were looking at in Kona had a good Black Friday sale so we booked it. This is a once in a lifetime trip.

I tend to skip all the royal Hallmark movies, just not interested.
Me as well.
I'm out of town Tuesday -Thursday in NC for work,
What part of the state? Safe travels.
Given up on catching up!
I made a new rule a few pages back that you don't have to catch up,
I’m prepping for colonoscopy tomorrow,
Yuck! How did it go today?
We had 12 for Thanksgiving, including 4 female Coast Guard recruits.
That is wonderful.
I loved how Hymns were interspersed between Scripture and other readings.
I liked it too. That was a different service to me and I enjoyed it.

Our treadmill came today so we have to assemble it then I need to get moving.

In response to Carol's question which for some reason I can't quote here....

I'm staying in Aberdeen (wherever that is-I mean - I know where it is :P it's not anywhere of great interest I don't think!) - which is in the middle of the two plants we are working at. Looks like it's only about 6 1/2 hours away.

:hug:Lynn and hooray. 🙏for Summer! So very grateful to God that a friend will be with Summer tomorrow and that her surgery won't be further postponed.

Carol, Destined at Christmas was overall a cute movie with at least a different premise. Glad you also enjoyed the different format of yesterday's worship service. Good for you! Wishing you and Jack a fantastic Hawaii vacation come Springtime!🌸

Stay safe, Easyas:car:

Glad they can get her in sooner rather than later - Is she the one whose husband works out of town? Can he come home to help her? Take FMLA or something along those lines? If he hasn't already filled out the FMLA paperwork w/ his employer he should in case he needs it to care for her in the future, no harm no foul if he ends up not needing it. I can't imagine going thru so much without my husband there to help me deal with it, his presence might go a long way to helping her heal. Doesn't she have adult children - can they be with her in the hospital and /or help out? Oh - and if the kids are adults, they can also submit FMLA paperwork to their employer because caring for their mother qualifies them for it as well - assuming their employer employees 50 or more people. Here is a link in case any of them need it. Having encouraged more than one employee to submit the paperwork myself, it can be so helpful in difficult situations.
