Just popping in to say hi and to ask a question. I am making Creamy Tortellini Soup tomorrow night for the first time and am at a loss as what to serve with it. Your dinners always sound delicious so I thought you might have a couple of ideas for me.
I would do a salad and some garlic bread. Yum. Do you have a recipe? DD loves tortellini.

I agree with salad and some sort of bread. I'd maybe mix up a pack of Red Lobster Cheddar Bay biscuits, or dig out my old beer bread recipe.

Wow it's already 4:17 here, 7:17 most all of you! It somehow feels much later though, to me. Thank you all, forever, for all your shares and trusting in our Quacker family to do so. I've enjoyed catching up. 🙏for all of you in ❄️ country to PLEASE take extra care and stay warm. I talked with Terri earlier and may see her when she's out my way on Friday afternoon. Dad and I are trying to coordinate with either Terri or another friend Donna a cookie pickup for either Friday or ideally Saturday. The cookies will be part of an early Thanksgiving meal on Sunday that a church ministry will be serving to people living in a local park. It will mean so much to me, extra in a more anonymous way, to get to take part in a tiny way again this year.

❤️to all!

I agree about it feeling later now that it's dark so early! We were out doing some shopping yesterday, and it felt like bedtime at 5:00pm!

Nice of you to make cookies to donate. 😇

I agree with a salad and bread. Garlic bread sounds yummy.

@flyingdumbo127 How nice that you made cookies for the dinner at church. And nice that your friend will help deliver the cookies.

It is a cold, dark, rainy morning here. It is supposed to rain this morning and hopefully clear up later.

The real estate agent for selling my condo will be calling this morning. I made it clear that I am not selling right now but just gathering info. He understood. I don't want any pressure. I am not doing well right now probably because of the holidays so I need to take my time and make an informed decision, not just a hasty one.

Have a good day. Hope the weather is better elsewhere.

Happy Hump Day!:sulley:

Well, I did book a Disney trip for next Sept. I booked Beach Club Studio Villa.
Good for you!👏 I hope you stick with it, I'm sure you'll have a great time. I kinda want to do a solo trip but then I think I would be lonely. I like to talk so I would miss the talk with my kids after we get off of each ride. I did tell myself that if I got up the nerve to go alone, I want to splurge and do the Keys to the Kingdom tour, I think that would be amazing and something I could handle by myself.

Went and saw Mia yesterday. Her temperature dipped a bit so they had her under a heat lamp. I was only able to hold her for 30 minutes.

I was talking to Mitchell Sunday about when I should put the pond heater in for the fish 🐟. I didn't know how cold it needs to be, I don't want to cook them 😳. He said this is a good week since it won't get above 40 for the high. Well I forgot when I got home and then didn't think about it again until yesterday. By the time I got home it was already dark so I didn't do it again. I texted him and asked if he gets off work early enough today, could he swing by and put it in the pond for me. If not, the fish will have to wait until Friday. Next week around Thanksgiving, it will be back in the 50's.

That's about it for me this morning, have a great day.

Well, lucky me. I have post-Covid shingles now. 😤 (Just like DD did this summer.)
Hope they go away quickly.
Snowing today, roads were not too bad. It is pretty ,clinging to trees and bushes, but it is too early. I went to the endocrinologist this morning and then got the latest Covid and flu vaccines. In two weeks I need to go get the shingles vaccine, I have already had a mild case and that was bad enough.
I have to schedule DS for a flu vaccine, as he keeps putting it off; he and I for an updated Covid booster, he has had one, I've had two, but we need the Omicron one, I guess; and DH and I both need to get our shingles vax. The doc told DH to wait a minimum of two weeks after his flu and Covid booster shots to get it, so he has to wait another week.

Hmm, he had a flu shot and a Covid booster on the same day; and a couple days later, his gout flared up. I wonder if the shots 'activated' the gout, kwim? Maybe he needs to get his stuff one at a time

I think I mentioned before my sister and her family are moving out of state for a job transfer. Dh and I along with my dad decided we will be making the drive with them to help them unload and then driving home together. My dad was a truck driver so he'll be driving the Uhaul, my BIL with probably drive with him and I'll be driving with my sister and niece in one of their vehicles and the other is getting shipped. My husband will be leaving a few day earlier to stop and see some of his family along the way before meeting us at the new house. We're leaving the Sunday or Monday after Thanksgiving, we'll probably be gone about 8 days. I'm getting emotional about them moving so far away but I know it will be a good move for them.
Now you have a new vacation spot!

@Bianca and Bernard glad you guys didn't get damage from the hurricane. Crazy how there were two so close together. Had that happened before?
Not full hurricanes, for me anyways. But it has happened before.

Just popping in to say hi and to ask a question. I am making Creamy Tortellini Soup tomorrow night for the first time and am at a loss as what to serve with it. Your dinners always sound delicious so I thought you might have a couple of ideas for me.
I'm with everyone else. Some sort of bread (garlic, ciabatta, something crunchy) and a salad, with maybe a balsamic dressing.
I agree about it feeling later now that it's dark so early! We were out doing some shopping yesterday, and it felt like bedtime at 5:00pm!

Nice of you to make cookies to donate. 😇
Too dark too early! It was 5:30pm yesterday and the sun was almost down entirely.

------------------------
Morning all. Yesterday, I had to drive DH to work, and pick him up. He had unavoidable face to face meetings, and he couldn't drive with his right foot being swollen. Have I mentioned I really hate driving on the highways here, when it's rush hour? There was an accident right before the Buckman bridge Park exit that took 4 lanes down to 2, and of course, people start driving like idiots trying to pass everyone so they can go go go. I do like the new 'express lanes' that they added on 295; yes, I'm paying .50 to drive there during rush hour, but I'm not in that mess of traffic! Too bad they don't have that extended all the way to the exits for home!

DS and I also mowed the front and back yards yesterday, and weedwacked them. We had so much debris left from teh storm (we picked up a lot last week, but couldn't put all of it out at once for the trash, so we just waited and finished it yesterday). I also cleaned the entire house, except dusting; floors all cleaned/bathrooms, etc. I was tired, so we just picked up Panda Express for dinner. Got a three entree plate, ate half, and will have the rest for lunch.

Dh is better today, not as much swelling, so he drove himself. I'm making the carne asada that's been in the fridge for 3 days, along with garlic parm smashed potatoes (just the little potatoes roasted, then smashed into disks; topped with butter and garlic and parm and broiled to crisp up) and some frozen veggies of some sort. Need to use the potatoes.

DD#2 and SoIL#2 had their Marine Corps ball yesterday.

eta: that is a bad picture, lol. It makes SoIL look like he has a stretched out head.
Going to play my games for a little bit, then going to go soak in a hot bath to get rid of these aches from yardwork yesterday. I might get to washing the bedding today, but if not, there's always tomorrow!
Have a good day, y'all!

Good morning. I do not like waking up on Nov 16, and seeing the ground white. It sleeted until late last night. Luckily the sun is out and a lot of it is melting already. Supposed to get to 42, then a big dip in the temps. I took the trash down, but had to shovel the end of the driveway so I wasn't putting the cardboard boxes I had down where they would get wet and soggy.

I know there was a post on here from @AuntieMe3 last night asking me to tell her how the new phone is. But that post seems to have disappear. To answer you--So far I love it. It's definitely faster on the 5G, and so far I haven't had any issues. We had 10's before this, and I never had any issues until the phone started overheating this week. I guess a lot of it could depend on what kind of case you use. A lot of reviews said the battery would be an issue, but so far it hasn't gone down any faster than my other one did. And I love the color!

@Bianca and Bernard Great pic you shared, beautiful looking couple!

@footballmouse --I hope Mia is doing better today

Off to get something done, floor needs washing, but I am not bothering until all this white stuff is gone, I will just be tracking it in and making it dirty again.

Have a nice morning

I can't believe Thanksgiving is next week.
I know! I've got to get my butt in gear, I'll get organized this weekend/do some grocery shopping. I already have my turkey in the freezer - need to do the math on when to take it out.
@easyas123 welcome back. Sounds like a great trip, I've been trying to convince DH to do one of these cruises. And congratulations to your DS and future DIL.
Thanks! As far as the trip, I highly recommend them and I'm not a 'cruise' person. Great way to see a lot of history and great places.
I bought a package of the frozen Red Lobster biscuits a couple of weeks ago. They didn't taste anywhere near as good as the kind you mix up yourself.
I'm glad to hear this review. I've used the box mix before with great results, however I just recently noticed the frozen ones. I didn't get it but I thought about it.
I'm going to try using mix to make dumplings on top of a stew soon I think.
and DH and I both need to get our shingles vax.
All this talk of shingles....I turned 50 last month and I was busting at the seams to get my vax! I had my appt. and wouldn't you know it - 10 days before and there it was. Shingles. It was the most simple, basic barely there case of shingles ever, so I can in no way complain. But now I have to wait until March to get my vaccine.
DS and I also mowed the front and back yards yesterday
We've resigned ourselves to the fact that we will need to mow once more, probably this weekend. I usually don't mind BUT it's going to be cold as hell and we have a few acres that need to be done on the zero turn. At least when I'm up in the tractor it has a cab & heat, but the zero turn will be a cold, cold ride!
I do not like waking up on Nov 16, and seeing the ground white
:yay::cold::yay: I'd take it from you if I could! Talking to the cousins up in Savage, they've got some, too.

Well good morning to you all. Nothing to much new to report. Our internet died several days ago at home, so the helpful repair guy came over to the house this morning and discovered the modem was fried. Replaced it, made sure all worked and was in & out of there in less than 15 minutes. My kind of a easy & quick fix! I bought a wreath from Lowes yesterday, but now I'm not loving it and it seems to have some small pieces coming off of it so I'm going to return it this afternoon. I also bought one of those outside spiral type Christmas tree light up decoration thingys...I'm having second thoughts on that as well. I have a nail appt. this evening across the highway from Lowes so I should probably return them then.
I've also got to start thinking about a new vehicle, I think I'm going to get one once the New Year is here, I've got 3 or 4 in mind but I suppose I need to think about going and actually looking at them & sitting in them/test driving. Husband had to order his truck last month and he's hoping it is here by the end of January - what a pain in the butt.

Good morning. I have been reading but not commenting, just been out of sorts and had so much to do that I was going to be negative. So hugs and prayers for all those that need them.

@Snowysmom - I know we chatted briefly about the solo trip when we met. Go for it. I LOVE my solo trips. No pressure to do what others want and I go at my own pace. My husband is already telling me to plan one for next year around the Christmas season. That is usually right after Thanksgiving but before the crowds descend on the parks. Try and do things without thinking of Chris. I don't mean that in a negative way. A dear friend that I traveled to Disney with quite a few times went to Disney with her husband and 3 months later he passed away. We spent some time together on that last trip they took together. She was a little more prepared for it as they knew he was dying from cancer on that trip. (I HATE CANCER!) She asked me if I would travel with her to replace the sad memories with some new ones the following year. I knew the trip we took the year after he passed away would be difficult for her, but in a way it really wasn't. We talked about Doug, and she knew he wanted her to live her life without him to the fullest. She had a new ring made out of her wedding band and engagement ring, so he was always with her but differently if you know what I mean. They sadly had no children, so she truly was on her own in many ways. I met her through these boards and she is still one of my dearest friends. She doesn't go to Disney as often, but she knows I am always a phone call away.

Been a busy week or two and I really was a bit down. The hard drive had me so worried that I would lose all my pictures but I heard from the company and they can be saved. Now I just need a price. So at least that's a positive. My parents car was badly damaged in a hit and run, although it was more like a hit and tow. My mom just put $5,000 into the car on the transmission and another minor problem and the car may be totaled. Thankfully the car was parked and it happened overnight so my parents at least weren't injured, the cost of a new car, which they will need, balanced with their ages has my mom worried, understandably.

We did get some great new yesterday. My dad has had a lot of tests done to determine if he has dementia. They are not ruling it out completely but he has Hypothyroidism and extremely low B-12 levels but no Parkinsons. These can mimic dementia so they meet with the PCP to determine the next step. Dad is 86 years old so I'm thankful for any extra time I can have with him.

Wyatt has his championship game on Saturday. They lost to this team in the last 30 seconds when they played them before, Wyatt fumbled the ball and the team blamed him for the loss. More like the parents blamed him. He's 8 years old and still learning his position. I get upset when any child is targeted negatively by adults. Sports should be FUN! These are little boys learning a game. Losing isn't fun but it helps build character. I know Wyatt will work harder in this game. If they win they get to go to Nationals in Miami.

I finally got Ella to give me a time frame for her promised Disney trip. She's a little worried because for the 1st time in 5 years she has 2 HIGH B's on her report card. She was worried I would say no to the trip, and she's worried that she won't get into her chosen school. The trip is on because she still has had an amazing accomplishment - Straight A's from 4th grade til now. We decided on June right after she gets out of school, for 8 days. She doesn't want to do a waterpark, thankfully. She does want her other to go also but that is up in the air. She wants to do all the thrill rides and she knows I won't, she is beginning to understand I can't not won't. Foodwise her only request is we find somewhere that has Fried Pickles., she is fine with just quick service meals and she thinks we can skip park hopping. I'll book the trip with her mother on the reservation and cancel her if I have to do that before the final payment.

We have a seminar today to see the city offered plans for the Medicare coverages offered and then in the next week or so an agent will come to the house so we can go over everything he has to offer and pick the best plans to back up the Medicare. I have had fantastic insurance with the city for 40 years, this will be all new for me. I know what we need as far as dental, prescription and optical so hopefully we will find something affordable.

Have a nice day

Just a very quick hello I have to take the dogs to get groomed. Grady’s first grooming. Hoping all goes well. 🤞🏻 Going to take them for a run first to get some energy out. It’s rainy so that should be fun. I put some towels to keep in the car for this weather. I hope everyone has a good day! 🐥

Good morning(afternoon) all...

I guess it's pretty windy in most of Southern California today but ironically, it's not here, it's almost ALWAYS windy here...lol I did half my errands yesterday after I posted but I still need to go to the mall to do a pick up. I hate the mall... hopefully it's not too bad early(ish) on a Wednesday morning. I made burritos for DH and DD last night and tacos for myself. Not sure if I mentioned this before but I love tacos. I seriously could eat them all day, everyday and not get tired of them.
DD#2 and SoIL#2 had their Marine Corps ball yesterday.
 DH is a Marine(you know, once a Marine, always a Marine). We have a local group of old Marines that throw a ball every year and we've gone to a couple...unfortunately weren't able to go the last couple of years but I love them. I've never shared a pic of us before but I love these and felt like I could share...:lovestruc

DH and I are our first ball in '97 at Camp Pendleton, we were newlyweds and our last ball, here locally, in 2018.

And I love the color!
Purple is my color. 💜

Have a great rest of your day everyone.

Good Morning dear friends,

Snowysmom, 🙏that your call with the real estate agent provides you both extra information and comforting assurance. Thank you on the cookies. It’s a blessing as I said to be able to do that.

Footballmouse, continuing prayers for baby Mia. By all means then you should take the tour! ::MickeyMoPerhaps you could go with a friend to WDW and just have some solo time. When I was much younger and had the health and desire to be out longer than I do now, I did enjoy some solo time at DL. Pre pandemic, even, for me that changed and it means a lot more to go with my dad or a friend. Having the option to do both would be fun because that way I could just go for a few hours with a friend/some solo time while the other person if they wanted could enjoy the park longer. Something fun to think about.

Lovely picture, B&B of your son and his wife! God Bless them both indeed. Dad (pre pandemic) enjoyed Panda Express 🐼 every now and then. Prayers all future vaccines go well and without side effects for you and your family. I also truly pray your other son is at a healthier/happier place in life.

:wave:hi Maple Moose. I love your “all things cozy,” words under the palm tree. Being cozy especially right now with the cooler weather is sure an extra blessing.

:cheer2:that you are loving your new phone, Lynn! I forgot what color you said it was. I’m so glad you like that part of it, too. Such a cute Tigger pumpkin picture!

How awesome for a quick internet repair, Easyas, I’m so glad. I remember your sharing about beginning to search for a new :car:Prayers you find one that works for you at a good price, too!

Extra :grouphug: and prayers all-around dear Taz. I’m still so thankful to God that you and Snowysmom got to meet! I truly look forward one day, God-willing, to also be able to meet a fellow Quacker family member or two or three, including of course, both you and Snowysmom!

Wishing you a good day, PollyannaMom! As always thank you so much for the loving care you give to the twins. They are so blessed to have you in their lives.

Grady paws and prayer, Pea. Much extra love and prayer for healing to you!:grouphug:

Lovely picture of you and your DH, AuntieMe3! :thanks: for sharing with us and I truly thank you both for your service as a family. God Bless you both. Lol, thank you for answering my question that Lynn's new phone is purple--good choice, dear Lynn!

Hugs to all and I will check back later.
