Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good morning.

When my kids were growing up, we watched Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Roo, and Owl. My grandkids don't know them. When in the Magic Kingdom I made them go on the Winnie the Poo ride because I wanted to go. When we saw Pooh Bear in EPCOT, Carter really liked him.

Just living life these days. All the usual chores, church work, and yoga yesterday, Baking a cake today to take to Andrew's tomorrow for his birthday 10/10. Going to the library in a bit.

I have a tendency to read this thread, collect quotes, then not write a post. Catch up time.

Are there other “in person” friendship that began on Disboards that have continued for years? I know I’ve read hear about upcoming meets and people who live pretty near each other.

Simba’s Mom and I have been friends since November 2010. I know I’ve met Dan Murphy, and I bet many of you have too!
I have a group of 4 people out of a much larger group, that I met on the morning riddle years ago. I have met up with each of them in Disney, Providence RI, and even Rehoboth DE. Their kids are younger than mine and tend to invite each other to their kids' weddings. We have "known" each other close to 20 years.
we begin heading south in 12 days and then taking it easy.
Sounds fun. When will you be at Disney? (I assume that is where you are headed.)
he'll be moving over to the western shore of MD to be closer to his potential work place in Bethesda.
Apartments in Bethesda are expensive. Andrew lived there two years with a roommate.
go jean shopping in the afternoon.
Have you ever tried Chico's? That is where I get all my jeans now. I go to the Outlet in Lancaster but there is one in Queenstown too. You have to get used to their weird sizing but the clothes are nice.
I have heat and hot water!
:cool1:
Our biggest issue is making decisions in advance.
I menu plan a week at a time before I grocery shop. I may rearrange or substitute a day, but at least I have an idea and all the ingredients. Sarah does it too now.
Chris would say that at 15 minutes before a Hallmark movie ends the male and female leads have a crisis. At 5 minutes before the movie ends they figure out the misunderstanding, profess their love, and kiss.
Exactly! You can set you clock by the problem/breakup at 15 minutes before the end.
I'm looking forward to our DIs meet on Tuesday.
:donald::mickeyjum:tigger:Pictures! We will be with you in spirit.
We put our chili over spaghetti and top with cheese and diced onions.
We sometimes put our chili on rice.

Dryer buzzed. Back to work.

Ugh I know - the whole area is so pricey. He's got a roommate situation lined up, so we shall see how it works out. He really wants to buy a house but he's waiting till he's in a job for a while to know if that is the right direction for him since he's just out of the military.

I do love me some Chico's - and yes getting used to their sizes are a chore! I've just purchased a sweater & some shirts from the Queenstown outlet. The pants I tried on were to long. I picked up a pair of slacks from Talbots, too. But no jeans.

Happy Wednesday all! It's been a hectic week so far, but trying to get back on track! Dinner is Chicken Pot Pie and since I menu plan and prep over the weekend, I have it all ready to go.

We are headed to the Fort in Disney, so getting the RV ready for our trip has been fun too, because we need to lighten the load as compared to what we need up north. We also have stops on the way down in Pigeon Forge as well as St. Augustine.

Hope everyone has a good day!
On January 23rd of next year, first class stamps which are now 60 cents are going up to 63 cents. Postcard stamps which are now 44 cents are going up to 48 cents. Plus, come July 2023, the same thing will happen again with stamps. A couple weeks ago was when package prices went up through at least January. Not sure whether that cost increases twice or just (bad enough) once a year!
Wow, this seems to keep happening to the point where it is understandable that no one wants to send anything USPS anymore!
I totally forgot that my parents 67th wedding anniversary was yesterday so I called them today.
Aww that's fantastic!!! Congrats to them!
Tonight it will be either leftovers or tomato soup and grilled cheese.
Yum, we had Tomato soup and Grilled Cheese on Monday! Delicious!!

Good Morning friends :)

:hug:Footballmouse and hooray for lunch with friends! I hope Evan has fun at ⚽tonight, too.

70's sounds a ton better than 45, dear Snowysmom, brrr! Today, out there, absolutely sounds like a Hallmark movie and cocoa day, to me! So :cheer2:you are now even closer to your ::MickeyMotrip! Thank you again about the bowl. I have yet to hear back from Tracie.
What a beautiful Fall :tigger:picture, Lynn! Makes me extra wish that DL would finally update the Pooh ride to make it cuter and longer! 75 is such a nice :sunny:day Enjoy, my friend!

I agree, Bobbiwoz, about Kanga and Roo 🦘I always liked both of their characters.

Yay, that Carter liked Tigger, Carol. it is sad that most young kids these days don't know our friendlypooh:characters. It's been years since I have watched any of the DVD's. Should dad and I ever get a DVD player, maybe I will get one from the library. How awesome you have met and kept in touch with several Dis Families. They are all blessed to know you that's for sure.

ITA about the post office 💌DisneyMommyMichelle. It makes me so sad, too because, IMO right now encouraging mail ought to be all the more promoted. Instead, the opposite is true due to prices. That said, should you ever want a postcard from CA, PM me. I'd be happy to send you one. Have a wonderful upcoming time at WDW!

Easyas, I hope you do find some 👖They definitely can be hard to shop for! Barbara Ann used to like shopping at Chicos!

Dad will soon be off to a doctor appointment and possible Rite Aid as well. We never did get any mail delivery yesterday. Other than our voter ballots it looked like all junk was due, same as today. Will see later what if anything comes. Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone. I'll check back later.

That sounds like a great trip!!

My DS is grown now, but he loved the Winnie the Pooh movie when he was little. We watched it so many times, I started changing the language to French just for some variety. :rotfl:

Aww, precious memory, dear PollyannaMom. Dad has told me, I have no memory of it, of how he would take out from the library constantly Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day for me. He would project it on the wall. NO VCR's or tapes quite yet! Pooh is the best for sure and such a loyal friend who just wants others to be happy. Our Quacker family will absolutely have to go on the Pooh ride and get a picture with the characters at our meet one-day God willing at DL!

Good morning all... or maybe afternoon now for most of you.

The weather is turning here... the sun is shining warm but the breeze is getting cool... love it when the AC finally starts to get a break. LoL Actually the last couple days we've had some clouds come in all of a sudden and you can see it raining in a couple spots. We had a couple sprinkles on Monday.

I got to spend some time with the baby and her momma yesterday. She is so so sweet, such a happy girl. She fell asleep in my arms for about 45 mins and it was so sweet.

@DisneyMommyMichelle Welcome to the thread. Sounds like a fun trip, I hope you all have a great time.

@lynxstch How are you two enjoying the new TV?

@Pea-n-Me I'm glad to hear feeling you are feeling better. Please make sure you don't over do it though.

@Snowysmom so happy to read your plumbing is fixed and to have hot water again. I hope your and @tazdev3225 both have a great time on your trips. Its great you two are going to meet up too.

@bobbiwoz i haven't met anyone from the Dis(yet?) but i have met online friends in person before. When DD was younger I was on a message board for parents my age. We had members around the world. I've met many of them through the years, even went to one's wedding and hosted another's family while they were on a cross country road trip. The message board went offline years ago but alot have remained friends or at least kept up with each other on FB. I joined when DD was 2 and she's 24 now so I've known most of these people for over 20 years...

@footballmouse I've always wanted to try that Cincinnati chili. Sounds and looks good to me.

@Judique DD gets Hello Fresh for us occasionally. Almost everything we've had from there is really good and very easy to make. She does the 3 meals a week for 2 and it's usually enough food for the 3 of us if DH is home. If i dont think it will be enough, I'll add a salad to it. Our deal is she buys and I cook it. 😆 I had her put a pause on it during the summer because I didn't feel like cooking very often so we'll probably be starting back up soon.

@easyas123 hope you can find some jeans. I'm short and plus size so it's hard to find jeans that fit right. LoL If I'm lucky I end up getting crop pants and they're usually the normal length for me. :sad2: LOL I actually found extra extra short length jeans at Torrid but they don't have much of a selection of that.

@flyingdumbo127 I hope you can figure out a solution for your bowl. Thanks for the lovely note in the mail yesterday. It was very sweet.

@PollyannaMom that's so funny about Winnie the Pooh in french....LOL I wish I would've thought of that when DD was little. We used to watch some shows so much, I can still recite them word for word if they came on today. I think your DS is around the same age as DD, was he into Bear in the Big Blue House? That was my...or I guess you could say DDs favorite. I just read it's coming out in Disney+ soon. I can't wait.

Yes, we did watch that one!

I think my favorite was Backyardigans, though.

Ok, so you feel my pain! I'm short as well, and wear a size 12, so it's a bit of a chore for me. What fits in one brand/style doesn't fit in another and so on and so forth. I have a pair of ankle pants from Talbots I just got that are a touch long on me, but work with boots/clogs. Honestly, I find a pair that fits and buy several of those when I find them. Makes for a boring wardrobe, but at least I'm comfortable!

So nice outside, sunny and 68 now and still climbing. And no breeze which means I can burn the brush pile today. By permit (which I have) you can't burn till after 4..but I have it all ready to go for 4 pm.
All errands and shopping done. Noone at the register in Aldi's but me..at 10 am on a Wed? Unheard of
Walmart wasn't too bad. A lot of shelves have been filled back up..lots of dry pasta again, some variety of Friskies cat food, but not all the ones they used to carry, and of course those are the ones all my cats like. Just placed a huge order on Chewy, to take advantage of the free shipping and the $30 gift card if you spend $100. Meat prices are nuts..who on earth would pay $25 for a chuck roast? I found a smaller one, that was $13 and had a $4 coupon on it and I grabbed it. Since I freeze it , it doesn't matter if it's dated tomorrow.

I need to go through the chest freezer and the freezer up here and make a list of what we have so I can plan some of our meals ahead. I am tired of asking Don every morning what he wants for dinner. If he has a list, it makes it much easier. He just marks what he wants and what day,,then I mark what I want and what day, and we combine them.

Handyman Dave may call today about putting the peephole and door trim in, or he may wait till tomorrow.

@DisneyMommyMichelle --I don't think I ever welcomed you to our thread--but WELCOME. We love to have new Quacker Family members join us. That's the name we gave ourselves, lol. Hard to believe this thread has been going so long, but we have really become our own little DIS family on here. So join in when you can, and we are glad to have you!

@AuntieMe3 and @flyingdumbo127 --to answer your question about the new tv. We love it. I still think it's a little too big, but Don says it makes it easier for him to read what's written on the screen sometimes. We are having an issue with his remote not working on everything though. We both have Breezeline voice remotes that match our tivo. They had given us each one, no idea why, but it's handy, because he sits there and sits through commercials,,and I have to use mine to FF through them, lol. He uses the voice thing, I have never used it. But then again, I don't use Bixby on my phone either. I think it's silly to be telling a tv or a phone what to do, lol! I had no issue getting mine to work with the new tv (Vizio), but his wouldn't turn the tv on or off. Everything else worked. I called Breezeline,,they had me try all kinds of things, but none of them worked. They sent a new remote. I got it yesterday. I paired it, put the code in, and now it works to turn the tv on and off..but it won't change the sound. I am tired of playing with it. I told them to send a tech to see if he can figure it out. I told them we damn well pay enough for their services per month, that they can afford to send a tech when he's in the area. They gave me an appt for next Monday afternoon. As long as we have my remote that works right, and the new tv's remote, we can live that long,,lol. We had a sound bar with the Samsung we had before this, but this tv has sound that is much better. You don't have to keep adjusting it to every station.

Off to relax for awhile, and then burn the brush pile

Have a nice afternoon.

Just finished riding the mower in the backyard. It is so nice out.

Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day
That was a favorite of ours.
I'm short as well,
Have you tried Old Navy Pixie Pants? I got a pair on sale and like them but had to get used to them looking like "floods" on me. Sarah tells me ankle pants are the style. When Jennifer, who is tiny, wears them they are full length on her.

I guess I was a little to excited about having hot water. Today I took a shower and the water turned lukewarm after a few minutes. My dishwasher is not working which I assume is due to not having a supply of hot water. I used it just before this happened and it was fine. I can get warm water but not hot. I am so frustrated by all this. I really regret buying this place and I am all the more determined to get rid of it. I did my due diligence before buying and the previous owner kept up with all the necessary maintenance. This place is only 7 years old. The contractor really must have cut corners alot and it isn't anything you can see. The plumber is coming tomorrow afternoon. I can't do the morning because I have to go into the office due to being on vacation next week. I feel like any happiness I have for this trip is being sucked out of me by this situation. They better be able to fix the problem tomorrow and not put me off again. I can't wait. The heat seems to be working but since it is so warm today I haven't really needed it. I am hoping that maybe the plumber did not turn on a valve or something.

At least the weather is nice today. It is good walking weather.

Have a good rest of the day.

Hopefully this trip will help push the condo issues to the back of your mind at least for awhile. Enjoy your trip, don't keep thinking about the plumbing while you're gone.

I wear these for work, love them. I also went and bought a pair of jeans from Old Navy like this.

This sounds like such a fun trip! Hope you guys have a great time. Is this a normal trip for your family or something new? I'm guessing normal since you have the RV.

We are fulltime RVers 10 months out of the year, so we normally hit up a lot of places on the way to our longer destinations to break up longer drives.

Last year we spent a chunk of time traveling the western states and national parks as we went to Disneyland and then we did route 66 from Santa Monica to Chicago and then drove to Michigan and up through Canada down through NYC and the east coast down to Disney World...we just change it up annually depending on what we want to see and do.

This is such a great time of year to be at the Fort! :goodvibes We were there last fall and had a blast! It‘s so much fun looking at everyone’s Halloween decorations. We brought some but didn’t use all of them. We wound up finding a nice family with a bunch of kids in a bare cabin who gladly took our extras. As we drove off in our golf cart they were running and waving some of the things around, lol. Have a wonderful time,@DisneyMommyMichelle, and everyone else who has trips soon! (PS Do you homeschool?)

@Snowysmom, I hear your frustration! I, too, hope it dissipates so you can concentrate on, and enjoy, your trip! Down to hours now! pixiedust:When you get mad, just put yourself at WDW in your mind!:mickeybar

@AuntieMe3, thanks, I think I might’ve overdone it a little yesterday, you’re right! One of my sibs has Covid now (not from me!), she teaches. So awful! She is one of these people who tried desperately to avoid it all this time. I guess cases are high in our area.

What kind of jeans do people buy? I bought some jeggings recently on Amazon (which had come up on my Instagram feed) they fit well and are super comfy. Was a little hesitant to try them, but I’d buy them again. For a long time I didn’t realize that Amazon has a clothing line. I discovered it when DS needed some chinos. I bought him theirs and was impressed with the quality.

Sitting out on my front porch with the pooches, it’s a really nice fall day. Sunny and slightly warm, no jacket needed. Leaves are turning - I can see lots of yellows and reds among the green. Fall flowers look nice. I need to pick up a pumpkin later or tomorrow. (I can go out now with a mask.) I saw something on Instagram about how to preserve a pumpkin that I’ll share. I don’t know how well it will work, but I’m going to try it. You soak the pumpkin in water, turning so each side soaks for 10 mins. Then you coat it with a light coat of Vaseline. (I’m not sure whether you do that while it’s still wet or once it dries, I may have to go back to figure it out, I think I sent it to DH. Will post here if I do.)

What’s everyone getting for candy this yr? One of my favorite things I ever gave out was orange filled Devil Dogs. They were a big hit, and were a special just for Halloween. But they don’t seem to carry them anymore. I did see some Chocolate Twinkies that were supposedly for Halloween, so I bought some thinking I’d give them out, but they have no special packaging on them at all, just clear plastic, so it seems a little weird. (Of course one of the boxes was almost empty :rolleyes1 that seems to happen a lot around here and then everyone denies it while smirking!) I read somewhere that kids like getting potato chips, not sure of that but I did see some bags before that would work out if I decided to go that route. (My kids will give me a hard time tho.) I do like giving out full bars if we give out candy, and I did see some in the store, hopefully they’re still there. I thought we were supposed to have a candy shortage this year? Doesn’t seem that way. Must’ve been a rumor started by the candy companies so we’d buy early! 🍬🍫

Enjoy the rest of the day, everyone! 🐥

@Pea-n-Me Glad you are feeling a little better. I have a lot of jeggings, (after I was in the hospital last year, and lost so much weight, none of my clothes fit me. I went from an XL down to a medium, and small in some things) . I am glad to say that I have kept that weight off for almost a year now. I bought jeggings on Walmart.com , the Time and Tru brand. I also got some on Target.com and found a couple of pairs at Kohls. They are super comfy and dressy enough that I don't have to put regular pants or jeans on just to go out. I even have some dark denim, and acid wash jeggings that I just got last week. Mr L tells me I have enough clothes, then turns around and tells me to buy more. I obliged him and bought 12 shirts on sale at Kohls during their last big sale-lol!

As for Halloween candy, we don't buy any for trick or treaters, per se. We have never had one here , since we've lived here, which is 20 years. It's a long long road that leads to a highway, and there are no sidewalks or streetlights. The only young kids in the neighborhood now, are the 2 who live next door, so I got them plastic pumpkins and different kinds of candy and will bring it over to them on Halloween night. I did buy Don (Mr L) some white Reese's pumpkins, and I got some york pumpkins for me, but that's the extent of it.
I loved devil dogs, whether they had orange or white filling. We can't find them around here very often, just the Little Debbie brand, and they just aren't the same. I did buy a pkg of Hostess snowballs today though, they were orange, so I guess that counts? I had to laugh out loud at your story about the disappearing Twinkies..too funny. Twinkies are one product I could just never get into. I want to try a fried one some day if I ever get to a fair around here again.

Burn pile is down to ashes, I didn't wait till 4--first time I haven't followed the permit rules. It got cloudy and now they say the rain could start anytime, so I wanted it done.

Off to fix dinner soon..have a nice evening everyone!
