Has anyone stayed in both Polynesian DVC and Polynesian regular rooms? How would you compare the quality of one vs the other?

How do you define quality?

Poly DVC is larger units, and come with a microwave and toaster. They have two showers. But they have only one real bed, and then a sofa sleeper that many hate. There is a pull-down murphy bed that is super cute.

Poly regular units lack thr microwave and toaster, don't have two showers. But they have two queen beds and a comfortable twin daybed that is more suitable for a tall teen or an adult than the murphy in a DVC unit. The storage is a LOT better in the hotel side. The DVC is stank for storage.

How relatively beat up either is tends to be unit to unit. DVC runs at 99% occupancy all year and gets beat up pretty hard; I don't think Poly DVC is scheduled for refurb until 2023 or 2024. Poly hotel is heading into refurb this year, and some rooms are in better shape than others.

I've only stayed in the regular rooms but did go in the DVC building and see a room
Best I can recall, the decor in them is the same. They didn't do a lot of changing when they converted over from regular. It's always a bit different in the units when they convert from regular rooms vs. new DVC construction. AKL Jambo is the same. That's not a knock, just means they are different. Having 2 bathrooms is always a plus though.

What may be a plus, you are closer to the TTC from the DVC building. That can be great for going to Epcot

I can’t speak to the quality because it’s probably about the same but I have stayed in both and I prefer the colors and decorating a bit more in the DVC studios. They seem a bit smaller than the overall spaciousness of the poly regular rooms due to the extra bathroom area and the small kitchen space, however. Both were spacious enough for our party of 4 though. You do get an extra actual bed in the regular rooms but my adult son didn’t have any complaints about the sofa bed. I know my answer probably isn’t much help, lol. I love all the poly rooms we’ve stayed in 😊

I have also done both.

One thing I liked with dvc is a guaranteed patio or balcony because all 3 floors have one!

I truly like both. However it depends who is in my travel party. I find with a mixed male /female the dvc bath better, with 3 adults the poly regular better because my kids don’t like sofa sleepers.

Agree with @_auroraborealis_ with the rest.

I am struggling with this myself. I'm traveling with 2 adults and 2 kids ages 5 and 4. I love that the standard room have 2 actual beds but the two bathroom spaces of DVC would be so much nicer. Still contemplating switching to a deluxe studio.

In a few years, the theming in the DVC villas will be pretty much gone. That's how DVC does renovations.

I haven't stayed in the DVC but have toured. We really like the views we get from the Poly without DVC. Beyond that, I don't really know. I would stay regular Poly unless I got a DVC rental deal for 2/3 the price.
