Hello-

We are first time QSDP, going in May to Disneyworld.

I have a few q's for you experts out there! :)

Can you save desserts or drinks when you have a meal?

For example. We are staying at All Star music and if we ate at the resort CS for breakfast and use our refillable mug. Can we either order a bottled water then take it with us to a park. Or can we not order a drink, and save a drink credit for later?

Same with desserts. Say we are eating at a place for a CS meal credit but we are full or don't really like the dessert option. Can we skip the dessert, and use a dessert credit later somewhere else. Or is the drink and dessert used up at the same time regardless when you use a meal from your plan that comes with a drink and entree and dessert?

Also, can you order and use your say snack credit on water but then pay for a cookie in the same transaction, or do you have to do 2 different transactions. Like say please put this water as my snack, then hand them a ccard to pay for the cookie?

Lastly (sorry for all the q's), are the cashiers good at getting the dining plan credits right. Like if the 3 of us get our meal or snack, do they ever accidently take off a meal instead of snack or vice versa? I am very confused and a bit worried at how that all works and how they know what to take off, and if they ever accidently do it wrong. We are counting on all our meals with our QSDP, and I worry maybe if its busy they may accidently mistake a snack for a meal or accidently put in 4 meal instead of 3, and then we are out a meal.

I know I am pre-worrying, probably for nothing. But I was thinking how many times when I go to Mcdonalds or another fast food how they forget a fry or charge for an extra something. No biggie. I ususally never say anything and just move on. But for the dinning plan, I would cry if they made a mistake that was costly to us like accidently adding an extra meal credit when we are paying etc?

Can anyone explain how it all works? :)

Many thanks and sorry for all the questions. I am so confused about how it all works but very excited to try it!! :)

Bottled drinks can be saved for later, when avaiable, if course. You'll have to get it and take it with you. Many CS desserts come in packages, so they can be saved as well.

The cashiers tend to do a fine job. if you're worried, your receipt will show how many credits are left.

No you can't break up the QS meals. They are not seperated out into drink, dessert, entree. But you can get a bottled drink and take it with you. We used our mugs several times and got milk or a juice to take back to the room for later. Some desserts are prepackaged so you can take them with you. I remember at POP we got ice cream for dessert, instead of having to get it when you paid for your meal they let you get it up to an hour (I think) later. So that way your ice cream doesn't melt while you eat.

I wouldn't worry about the CM's. They generally know what's going on. Just make sure you check your ticket to make sure you got charged what you should have been charged for. That way if there's a problem you can fix it right there.

You can also grab a piece of fruit as your dessert option and take it with you for later.

Many times the kids meals would come with a small baggie of grapes and/or carrot sticks, cup of applesauce, bottle of milk or a juice box. My kids never ate those "side dishes" during the meal (too busy picking yummy stuff from the grown ups plates! ;)), so I would throw the applesauce or carrots in my backpack for later- just remember to grab some plastic spoons or you'll be slurping your applesauce.:goodvibes

And as long as a dessert could be saved for later (would be ok at room temp.) we would save it in my backpack if we were full. It always made a nice snack while waiting in line for the next FotLK or some other show we wanted to see.

At the resort food courts we've found that "dessert" covers a wide range of choices. We've been offered or been able to substitute fruit (banana, apple slices), potato chips, an extra bottle of water, yogurt, etc. I usually ask a cashier what's allowable, then go back to that cashier when it's time to pay.

Generally the cashiers are accurate, but I check my receipt at the time just in case. The remaining entitlements are listed at the bottom of every receipt so as long as you know how many you started with and how many you used you'll be fine.

One other note regarding credits -- if you're using 2 different types of credits (CS and snack, for example), the system requires that to be done as 2 transactions. So, it should be easy to note if the cashier is trying to do both.

Because of that, your receipt will also show clearly which type of credit was used, because it only reports the remaining credits for that type of credit.
