Q: Final Payment "Overdue?"

I know "final payment" is due 45 days prior to arrival. What can happen if you do not make the "deadline"-if you still have a balance after the 45 day mark? :sad1:

Well, it's quite possible that they'd cancel your reservation.

If you think you're not going to be able to pull together the money in time, I'd contact them now and ask what your options are. I think there's much less of a chance that they'd cancel if you're actively working with them to make the payment, than if you just miss the date and don't contact them.

Would it be possible for a relative or friend to put the payment on their credit card, and then you could pay them back when you're able to? Disney doesn't care who makes the payment, as long as someone does.

The reservation doesn't cancel out at 44 days. I am thinking it's still closer to 30, but if you can't make the deadline, I'd call Disney and ask them (because what is true today may not be true tomorrow) and see when the exact cancel-out day will be.

Considering many rooms pop up in inventory after the 45 day package deadline, I've got to think that the computer automatically purges those that have not been paid off. Others have reported calling CRO and explaining that their payment will be a few days late. CM's can then go into the system and enter a special code that will tell the computer to override the non-payment purge. I think you should call them.

They aren't purged at 44 days. I would guess that there are quite a few people who cancel themselves at the 45 days mark, before they are into the change/cancel timeframe (after deciding they can't make it).

There is a point where a reservation will auto-cancel. Disney doesn't need to override anything, but I'd call right before the 45 day mark (this is for OP) and find out when the exact date of auto-cancel would be if you cannot make the payment in time. Personally, I would feel better getting it taken care of - even with a credit card - on time, just to make sure.

I actually asked this of a CM last year. I was already on the phone asking about my reservation and posed the question for an office mate of mine. They told me that the reservation is "supposed" to be canceled on day 44 and become available for other persons wanting to book but if the guest calls ahead of time and makes specific provisions for the final payoff, they will "hold" the reservation.

I would definitely call them as soon as I knew whether or not I was able to make the final payment.

Better safe than sorry!

Last year, we asked the CM this question when we booked a package. We usually just do a room only reservation. The CM told us that they give a "15 day grace period" for packages with a balance.

But she said that you would have to call before the 45 day mark and inform them of your case and then they would make notations on the reservation for you.

I would call the CRO and talk to them to see what they can do to help you if this is your situation.

Good luck!

Exactly - right around that 30 day period (but again, you really want to try to get the payment done by 45 days, just for peace of mind - and Disney could change that grace period at any time). Disney does change the way they do things frequently - like now, you cannot hold a package reservation under 45 days without paying it in full (until recently, it was a 1 day courtesy hold).

Our first trip at 45 days (I called at 46 or 47 days out) I didnt have enough, I knew I wouldnt untill the end of the month (so it would be 30 days) do to unexpected car bills. So a wonderful Cm gave me the suggestion to change our park tickets from 8 day hoppers to 1 day onlys. That put me $20ish from the amount due being paid off. I called when I had the cash (I refuse to use a credit card so I had to wait for cash on the debit) and changed the tickets back up.
