Q&C voucher or meal deal at AK?

At the Flame Tree, are the beans and corn considered sides or are you allowed to order another "side" with the Q&C meal voucher? I'm not sure which is the better deal. I figured I am getting about 15$ worth of food for 12$ with the meal deal and about 17$ worth of food for 11.25$ with the Q&C. That is if they allow an actual side besides the meal. Anyone shine some light on this, and what were your experiences? Thanks!

I think the meal deal at AK is the best, especially because they are less expensive for the kids than a Q&C voucher. The corn and beans will be considered a side unless you get an unusualy generous CM. With the Q and C you get the combo meal (including drink), and a dessert. With the AK meal deal you get the combo meal (including drink),an extra drink and ice cream or popcorn and all the food doesn't need to be ordered at the same time.

I am not sure which is the better deal. But I will tell you that we used our Q and C vouchers and were happy with the value of the food we purchased. It turned out all for the best that we went this route, as we wound up leaving AK early that day (very crowded, hot, and the sidewalks were narrow and frustratingly difficult to navigate). So we would not have had a chance to use the dessert/snack portion of the vouchers if we had gone the meal deal route...

3 weeks ago, when using my Q&C vouchers, I did TRY to get a different side than beans & corn but they wouldn't do the switch. I used my Q&C anyways total price with tax was around $18.00.

The meal deal at AK includes a soda or popcorn AND a bottle of water / soda from the carts, the meal portion includes a drink with your meal. The vouchers do not allow you to get your "dessert" from the carts, it has to be ordered from the counter service restaraunt. I use both in Disney but prefer the meal deal at the AK for the flexibility of getting a snack/drink later in the day. My son loves the Mickey ear ice cream from the carts.

I also prefer the AK meal deal for 2 reasons. One, because I like the flexibility of getting a snack later, and two because I need to stay away from the yummy chocolate cake at Tusker House!

During our last 2 visits DS was still sharing meals with us and it was nice to be able to get him a drink/snack in the afternoon.
