q about Emerald Club / Alamo Insiders

I am planning to rent thru our warehouse club id/coupon. What's the advantage to joining the rental car program (like Emerald club) before renting?

If my hubby will be the primary driver, should he be the one joining the Emerald club, or can it be my membership but he's the primary driver?

As you can probably tell, I'm a total newbie at this car rental stuff.

The primary driver should be the one with the membership. Advantage is not having to wait in line, discounts, and for Alamo you get the free extra driver. Emerald club, you reserve a mid size and pick anything on the Emerald Aisle.

Emerald Club is National. National and Alamo are actually the same company.

Alamo and National are owned by ENterprise Holdings.
The three brands are targeted in separate directions.
While we do share cars, we do maintain ourselves as different entities.

emerald club has provisions for free extra drivers also. It is outlined on the National site under Emerald Club. Or....go to the help tab and do a search.

With National's Emerald Club you can reserve a mid size car and take anything that is on the Emerald Aisle (as in row not island). We have gotten mini vans, suvs and full size from the Aisle.

As long as there is a mini van on the Emerald Aisle and have made your reservation via the Emerald Club log in for a midsize, yes, you can select that one. You may select any vehicle on the Emerald aisle.
