Just booked our free dining trip to the Beach Club (yahoo!!!) :woohoo:...and have major sticker shock over airfare prices.:scared1:

Usually fly PVD to MCO on SWA...the days of $49/one way seem like a distant dream to the current $119 and up/one way. There are 5 in our party.

Anyone get good deals on any August flights on airlines from PVD, BOS or BDL to MCO?

Did I miss the boat on getting cheap fares or do you think any dings might be coming out? I am hoping that there will be a window of opportunity of lower fares??!!

Our dates are 8/16 - 8/24. I'm sure a Sunday travel day isn't helping much.

Which airlines travel direct non-stop from PVD, BOS & BDL to MCO other than SWA. I checked Jet Blue from BOS...they were high too. Do they ever lower prices.

Anyone have a reliable crystal ball??

It seems that so far dings have only been for travel thru the end of July...though I did not notice any DING fares for PVD, BOS or BDL.

Personally I'm thrilled if I can get a fare of $200 pp, r/t, non-stop from either Logan or Green to MCO. Anything less than that is a gift!! There just aren't all that many fares of less than $99 each way...at least not at decent tiimes and non-stop.
I'm flying down on the 14th, on JB...I think it was about $139 pp, nonstop. Coming home we are flying Delta...about $99 each, nonstop. I don't love Delta but the flight time was really good for us.

We're flying BDL to MCO and the flights have flunctuated, but the $129 ea way has been pretty standard. Last week there was a 3 day sale and I saw the lowest rates that I've seen since the August dates were opened: $101 for the BDL to MCO outbound on 8/14, and $106 for MCO to BDL on Monday, 8/24.

The rates for travel on Sundays appear to consistently be high. We were actually supposed to come home on Sunday, 8/23, but the flight we wanted (non-stop, late afternoon) never went lower than $156 (it's currently $180).

To date, no dings have come out for August. There have definitely been dings for July for the BDL/MCO route. None of these dings included travel on a Sunday and the rates on all of these dings have been consistent - $90/one way. I would expect the Aug dings to be out very soon so keep your eyes open!

SW had a ding from BDL to MCO for $90 through July something yesterday so I'd keep looking. Also, I don't know where you live but we flew on SW out of Islip on Long Island last year because it saved us $1000 over BDL or PVD.

Good luck!

Did you buy your flights recently?
No, I booked back in March. I try to book as soon as the window opens up...especially with JB. They have only so many seats at a particular price. Those lower fares go fast!!!

Sounds you like you are more southern NE area, but is MHT an option? Don't know what they are charging from Manchester, but it might be an option. What about other airlines like JB or that one flying out of Worcester?

We are looking at similar times and the best deals so far were for Tuesday/Wednesday travel. JB had $176 RT from BOS to MCO a few times in the last month for departures on 18th/19th and returns on 25th/26th. Fri/Sat/Sun departures/returns were about $100 more. SWA had $89 each way fares for the last two direct flights from PVD to MCO for a long while (Fri and Sun departures only were more) before the recent bump to $107 to $119 each way. Try the SWA "Shortcut to Low Fares" box to see the low fares by day to look for deals. Also try flights to TPA instead of MCO too as sometimes they are cheaper during peak periods.

Best of luck!!

I have also been watching BDL and PVD for August...for the past 2 months...every day...several times a day...:headache:

You haven't missed anything!

DirectAir, out of Worcester flies to Sanford on Thursday, Sat and Sunday. The flight out is at 2:30, gets to Sanford at about 5:00. They return, from Sanford to Worcester, on Thurs, Sat and Sun at 10:45am, arriving at 1:45. They then turn around and fly back down to Sanford.
At the moment, they have flights at about $99. If I had flown on the 13th, returning on the 22nd, it would have cost me $235 for myself.

There haven't been any good SW deals from New England for the past year or so. We travel a lot (DH's family lives in TN and DD is in school in NC - in the last year between seeing family, flying DD back and forth and our vacation I think I've averaged 2 round trip tickets a month) and used to fly SW almost exclusively. Over the last two years we've only had one flight on SW. We've flown mostly Delta, Continental, American or US Air. The best I could do in April to MCO was $74/each way with one stop. We went down on US Air and came back on Continental, both of out Boston.

Now I should preface this by saying that I booked in mid April, but we are going BDL to MCO direct on Mon. Aug. 17. Originally wanted to fly out on the 16th but Monday was much cheaper. That is the 8:00 am flight that gets to MCO at 11:00. We like to have as much of the day as possible. Coming back, we are again direct, leaving MCO at 5:15 and arriving at BDL at 8:00 pm. I paid at the moment I don't remember exactly how much each "leg" was but the total was $331.00 per person. Maybe not the best price we could have gotten, but we were pretty specific about what time of day we wanted to travel and with a 4 year old, I was only willing to fly direct. I do check everyday though to see if the fares go down at all. if I may ask, what is a "Ding"? I forgot the most important part...we are flying Southwest.

Your info has helped a lot!

Actually, the Worcester airport is right in our backyard...totally forgot that the new service flew to Sanford. Guess we have to decide if we feel like driving an hour to PVD to take advantage of Magical Express or have a short drive to Worcester to have to arrange own transport/get luggage at Sanford.

I have to admit we like the ME and have never had any problems. How is the drive from Sanford to Disney property...I assume there are shuttles/taxis...anyone know the costs?

Thanks...

Back in '01, we flew PanAm out of Worcester. It was an incredibly pleasant experience. We actually loved flying into Sanford..it's a terrific little airport. BUT....a towncar service will cost you nearly $200 r/t to WDW from there. There aren't any shuttles either....at least none that I know of.
But there are car rental companies easily reached. And the drive isn't a hard one. It takes about 50 mins to make the drive. If you are going to save a fair amount by flying out of Worc. you may be justified in renting a car for the drive...just return the car and rerent when it's time to head home. Although, I have found some deals that made it cheaper to keep the car rather than return it, and then rerent later in the week.

Yea, gone are the days of the $49 each way to MCO from BDL. Sigh.

But I did manage to book BDL - MCO for $99 each way for 9/22 - 9/28 (Free dining of course!). I initially booked the BDL - MCO for $116 each as I was afraid that it would go up. THen about 3 weeks later, I saw that the flight down had dropped so I rebooked it and had $34 credit (2 fares). Then I checked the flight back and it too was $99 so I applied the $34 credit to the flight home. Now if I happen to get a DING then I will save those credits for flying down for the Disney half marathon in January.

It's all such a game that , if you are flexible with your dates, can be fun to play.

Kris
