Putting the yellow luggage tags on a cardboard box. Or other suggestions?

Has anyone put those yellow sticker/tags flat on a cardboard box?

In January, we will be flying TO Disney on Southwest airlines (So free checked luggage.) We will be flying FROM Disney (to home) on American Airlines (so we'd have to pay for checked luggage.) All of our clothing and toiletries will fit fine in a carry on.

We are staying at cabin at Fort Wilderness and would like to be able to bring some of our shelf stable food (bagels, cans of soup, cereal, etc.) with us, so we won't have to order as much from Garden Grocer.
Since we have free checked luggage with Southwest, it will be easy for us to bring this food down in checked luggage... but then we don't want to have to pay the checked luggage fee for an empty suitcase home--so we will want a "disposable" container to put the food in and check in as luggage going TO Disney.

Would the easiest way for us to do this be to get a cardboard box, fill it with the food, and check that in for our Southwest flight? Then just throw the box away when we get down there? If we take those yellow tags Disney sends us, to we just stick it on one side of the box? I just worry that if the box is not turned the right way, the baggage handlers at MCO won't see it and know to send it to Disney.

Anyone have alternate suggestions that I just haven't thought of? Thanks!

I would just order everything from garden grocer if your already paying the fees :)

To answer though I wouldn't do a box - I would pack the food in a hard sided suitcase - (watch the weight!) and then pack a soft side duffle type bag with clothing and other soft items from each family member. On the way back you could just pack the duffle into one of your other bags.

True...bringing the groceries down ourselves probably would be a lot of effort to save just a small amount of money...Thanks :)
