Katie, I was thinking about you also, knowing you're a Fuller House fan. I recently read that the upcoming Season 5 is intended to be its last season. What will we do without it?
Day 7 Friday 26th January 2018 Part 1 – Magic Kingdom
Good morning!
We woke up naturally at 7:30am again today!
I don’t know why this happened so much on this trip, we usually start sleeping in after a few days!
Me when I wake up and remember I’m at Disney…
We had a relaxing morning, and got two breakfast platters from Roaring Fork which we ate in our room.
It was very greasy but very good!
I ate all of mine, and even finished Jamie’s ham biscuit
Then we got ready to go to the parks.
Guess which top I like better out of these two…
How cute is this sweater
It’s so yellow and fun.
Following Jamie’s water spilling-incident yesterday, at the elevators he was winding me up and pretending to spill water, and I was giving him THAT look
Then he momentarily forgot about winding me up and changed the subject, but seconds later he randomly did a huge jump for absolutely no reason, and water flew out of his mug in all directions
We went to get the boat to Magic Kingdom but they weren’t running for some reason, which was weird because it wasn’t particularly windy.
Oh well. There were extra buses running so we headed up to the lobby.
The first bus that arrived was going to the Contemporary, so we decided to hop aboard and take the walkway to the Magic Kingdom
Yes Hymie, you can walk to the Magic Kingdom from the Contemporary, it’s nothing to be concerned about
Empty Disney photos are the best Disney photos…
We walked through the stores on the right hand side of Main Street, and I found this incredible poster!
I definitely would’ve bought this, but I was so sad to hear from the CM that you have to order them, and they ship them to you in about 3 weeks.
I can’t remember if the international shipping was insanely expensive, or if it wasn’t available at all, but either way, I concluded I couldn’t buy it
Look at all of these fantastic Disney Parks clothes and accessories!
We went in the glass shop!
I wanted to buy this but I was scared of transporting it home.
Why can’t I just live at Disney
As we continued down Main Street the castle show was on!
And we saw the CUTEST little baby getting his photo taken by photopass!
He was incredibly precious!
We decided to use one of our anytime fastpasses from our DVC tour at Buzz Lightyear!
Both of our faces in this picture crack me up
Jamie nailed it, and almost maxed out his score!
Jamie wanted to get a photo of himself looking sad about not being able to get in the cage with Zurg anymore, since they added extra bars.
I’m not sure what his hand is reaching for in the photo though...
Day 7 Friday 26th January 2018 Part 2 – Festival of Fantasy
Next we really wanted to ride the People Mover, but there was a queue!
But we joined it anyway, because I mean, it’s the People Mover, it’s worth it.
The line went down really quickly and we were there in no time
Afterwards we went to Sleepy Hollow and I got a Nutella fruit waffle (and asked for no blueberries!)
It’s a shame these aren’t snack credits, I think I’d get one every day!
We sat outside Sleepy Hollow to share it.
(And by “share” I mean Jamie staring at it and opening his mouth like a baby bird, while I got crabby because he refused to get a snack of his own )
An actual clip of Jamie any time I have food:
Then we found a spot by the castle to watch the parade!
When the last float went by I realised that the big burly man next to me was crying while (I assume) his boyfriend/husband hugged him really tight, and it just made me burst into tears straight away!
It was really wholesome.
We headed out of the park through the stores and at the top of Main Street we were met with..
The start of the parade
So we watched it go by again!
I also spotted this excellent outfit
Soon we were out of the park and making our way to Animal Kingdom!
Day 7 Friday 26th January 2018 Part 3 – Animal Kingdom
We arrived at Animal Kingdom at 4pm, and Br’er Fox and Br’er Bear were meeting and greeting at the entrance!!!
I don’t think I’ve EVER met them before so I was SO EXCITED.
I got a picture with Br’er Fox and I told him he was my favourite, and that I was so sad his ride was closed.
He kissed my hand then gestured a heart shape to me and it was just the greatest thing ever.
They looked like they were about to leave, so I took a quick pic of Br’er Bear…
And we carried on up the path, however I quickly realised that Br’er Rabbit was coming up behind us with no attendant or anyone nearby, he was just strolling around on his own!
So I got a picture with him too!
Gah!
I’ve never met them before and they’re basically my idols.
Splash is my absolute favourite.
This was an amazing moment.
We made our way over to our Everest fastpass.
It was a beautiful early-evening
We boarded Everest and were seated in the third row.
I scream on this every single time.
The bit where you’re going backwards in the dark and it feels like you’re going upside down just forces the scream out of you
I just have no idea what is going on in there, and how it makes you feel like that.
When we got off Jamie said,
“You know if you look up at one point there’s a yeti” – because he only saw the yeti recently after I told him it was there and he wanted to pretend he had figured that out himself
The ride gave Jamie a bit of a headache, so we went to chill out at It’s Tough to be a Bug!
Here I am in my bug glasses, if you can just about see that
The theatre was absolutely PACKED which made it really hilarious, everyone lost their minds at the spider part
Also Hopper is such a good animatronic, I appreciate him.
Then we had a fastpass for our first ever ride on Flight of Passage!
How exciting.
As we walked into the area a guy was touching this big Pandorian plant thing, and as we were walking past it grumbled and shot water out at us!
We were a bit early for our fastpass so we looked in the shop and I took some pictures.
Jamie said that this weird monkey-looking thing with six legs looks like me.
Apparently I make this face sometimes.
Day 7 Friday 26th January 2018 Part 4 – First ride on Flight of Passage, and Magic Kingdom
MOON.
Jamie stuck his big head in one of my pictures
Obligatory moss wall photo
Soon it was time to ride Flight of Passage!
For the first time ever!
I had planned on joining the standby line at some point this trip just to see the avatar test tube thing, but you can actually kinda see it through a window from the fastpass line
So obviously I didn’t get any photos or video footage of the ride, but it was INCREDIBLE.
I was seriously mind blown, it made me tear up a little bit, which Jamie laughed at me about
I had avoided looking at too much about the ride on the internet, and I’m really glad I did that.
It was all a surprise to me and I was in awe!
And feeling the banshee breathing was so cool.
I’m not a huge Avatar fan (although I don’t hate it either) and I still think I was able to appreciate this ride to the fullest.
Well done Disney!!
We played some drums and saw some of the bioluminescent lights come up, but ultimately we wanted to get food at Magic Kingdom and watch the fireworks, so we headed out of the park at around 6:10pm.
There was a Magic Kingdom bus already at the stop so we hopped on board, but there was a lottt of traffic due to a broken down vehicle so it still took quite a while to get there.
Eventually we made it into Magic Kingdom!
This photo was taken at 6:57pm…
We dashed straight to Columbia Harbour House for some food and arrived at exactly 7:02pm…
And the CM outside said they’d stopped serving at 7pm.
WHY THOUGH.
Ugh I was really looking forward to that.
We went over to Pecos Bill and they said the same thing
At this point I was irrationally annoyed at the owners of that broken down car we got stuck behind…!!!
I looked on MDE and saw that Cosmic Ray’s was still open, so we headed across the park.
We tried to walk through the hub but it was so crowded with people waiting for the fireworks, and on our way through all of the lights went out for Once Upon a Time
We eventually made it to Cosmic Rays at around 7:30pm!
And as soon as we made it, I realised I wasn’t actually hungry
I don’t know, nothing on the menu really appealed to me, and I was still pretty full from my Nutella waffle earlier.
After all the fuss I’d made running around the park, Jamie was baffled
We’ve been together for a long time, but he still doesn’t completely understand how my mind works
He was super hungry though so he got himself half a rotisserie chicken!
And the lady who read out his order called him HYMIE!
WOOOO.
The chicken came with green beans and mashed potato, and he also got some mushrooms from the toppings bar.
After Jamie had enjoyed his chicken we left Cosmic Ray’s, and it was SO busy outside!
We walked through the backstage pathway towards the exit and waited for the fireworks in Town Square.
The show began at 8pm!
I got annoyed once the show started though because people kept coming and standing in my view so I had to move.
I’d left a ton of space between us and the crowd so I don’t really know what I was expecting.
But if I stood right up next to them I wouldn’t be able to see over the people in front of me, you know?!
Anyway we moved around a little and I sent some video clips to my friend Fran back home.
I love the Happily Ever After fireworks so much!
Once they were done we got the boat back to the Wilderness Lodge.
We agreed that since we’d kept our towel turtle and towel alligator in tact on the dresser, housekeeping probably wouldn’t have made us a third one.
BUT ALAS!
We got back to our room to find this little lady watching Disney Junior!!!
We decided to take the remote from her, and let her keep our wine safe
How cute
OK...
NOW I was hungry
At 9pm we went down to Roaring Fork, and I got a gourmet grilled cheese and an orange juice, and a magical cookie bar for later, and took it all back to our room
The sandwich was good, but quite greasy!
Once I was done we went back down to Roaring Fork to fill our mugs up with tea, and Jamie got a Mickey brownie as a snack!
He enjoyed the brownie, although he was being daft and dramatic, acting upset about eating Mickey’s face
The magical cookie bar is truly magical!
After we had stuffed our faces with carbs and sugar it was time for bed!
Day 8 Saturday 27th January 2018 Part 1 – Lunch at Sanaa
Good morning!
We actually slept in until 9:30am today.
I’d been so high on adrenaline this trip that this was my first time sleeping in after about 7:30am.
And it was fine because the first thing on the agenda today wasn’t until 1:35pm.
And that was lunch at Sanaa!
So we had a slow morning. We showered and got ready, then headed out to the boats at around 12:15pm.
We got a boat to Magic Kingdom straight away, but ended up waiting about 25 minutes for a bus to Animal Kingdom Lodge!
This gave me a traumatic flashback of having several AWFUL bus experiences to/from Animal Kingdom Lodge when we stayed there in 2016!
We always seemed to be left waiting for aaaages.
We eventually got on a bus, and it took us straight to Kidani.
This lobby smells so good
Yay Sanaa!
We did some animal spotting while we waited for our table.
We were shown to our seats and there was an immediate commotion nearby, which Jamie looked like he enjoyed
We made use of a fantastic dining tip here.
At Sanaa you can swap two dining plan desserts for a bread service!
We didn’t need a dessert with lunch so this was great for us.
We looove the bread service
My favourite dips were the two mildest ones and Jamie’s favourite were the two spiciest ones, what a team
It was sooo tasty but so filling.
If we come back when we’re not on the dining plan we could definitely just have the bread service.
But ALAS.
Today we had two mains on the way!
We decided to share two mains, the tandoori chicken (which comes on EVEN MORE bread) and the potje braised beef, butter chicken, aloo masala and rice
So good!!
Sanaa is probably my favourite restaurants at Walt Disney World.
The bread service is the best thing ever, and the braised beef in the potje meal is always so tender and tasty!
10/10 from me!
We had a good view with our meal too!
There was a giraffe hiding in these bushes what a goofball.
We were really full after our lunch so we strolled over to Jambo House to try to walk it off.
Jambo, Jambo House.
We were both in a bit of a bread coma, so we sat by the fire pit and relaxed for a while.
I could’ve fallen asleep here!
We soon rallied, and we walked through the shop to get out to the bus stop.
Day 8 Saturday 27th January 2018
Part 2 – Disney Springs
Next we decided to head to Disney Springs!
And by some miracle, we only waited 5 minutes for a bus from Animal Kingdom Lodge!
Hallelujah!
We arrived at Disney Springs at about 3:45pm.
First we popped into Ever After Jewellery, which was a fairly new addition to Disney Springs.
The girl who was working there really liked my Mickey-shaped bag
She asked where it was from but she hadn’t heard of Cath Kidston from the UK
She said she loved the Disney stuff they sell in Primark though!
Then we went into UniQlo!
We have a UniQlo in London and I loooove it!
I bought a discounted blue Mickey Mouse t-shirt for like $5, and Jamie bought a Mickey sweater, and a black t-shirt with Donald peeking out from inside the pocket (he still wears this t-shirt all the time, he loves it!)
And to make things even better, we used our $100 gift card we got for doing the DVC tour!
Next we went to World of Disney
We picked up our $200 gift card we got as part of our package deal, but we didn’t buy anything just yet.
We had a good browse though.
Jamie had a look in the Star Wars Trading Post, then we went to Goofy’s Candy Company to scope out some treats we might get later in the trip.
Out of the 56 snack credits we got when we arrived we still had 40-something left, and we were half way through the trip..!
Next we went to Sprinkles and got cupcakes!
I got banana and Jamie got something called “black and white”, even though he didn’t know what that was
No pics yet because we didn’t open them up until later!
Then we headed back to the bus stops!
CUPCAKES.
Welcome home!
I love this place
When we got back to the room we discovered ANOTHER TOWEL ANIMAL
Look at this cool guy
We took him to join the others!
We went down to Roaring Fork to get coffee…
…and we watched School of Rock!
After watching the film for a while I said to Jamie that growing up I really hated Sarah Silverman’s character, but now I realise that she is perfectly reasonable, and he said that he was thinking the exact same thing!
Day 8 Saturday 27th January 2018
Part 3 – Magic Kingdom
We went downstairs to get a boat to Magic Kingdom at 8pm, right when Happily Ever After was starting!
It was such a wonderful ride over, as we got closer to Magic Kingdom we could hear the fireworks soundtrack.
How fantastic.
What a magical boat ride.
The fireworks were ending as we arrived at about 8:20pm, however Magic Kingdom was open until midnight tonight!
I think a lot of people were heading out of the park, so it was a squeeze to get down Main Street!
We went straight to Columbia Harbour House, aka BROCCOLIVILLE.
That’s what we call it after receiving mountains of broccoli on previous trips, which we loved.
I ordered my favourite chicken pot pie and Jamie got the chicken, fish and shrimp trio platter
However they came with GREEN BEANS instead of broccoli…!!!
HOW TRAGIC.
But still tasty.
I really love that pie.
And I got another Christmas cup in late January which I was thrilled about.
I love Christmas
Then we used a fastpass at the Haunted Mansion, which was a great call because the standby line was 50 minutes!
Apparently I have no evidence of riding the Haunted Mansion, but please enjoy this picture of the walk over there.
After the ride we walked over to Tomorrowland for a game of Buzz!
On the ride, we stopped right next to the orange robot in the first room so we were able to accumulate some serious points!
Jamie nailed it and maxed out his score with 999,999.
But even though we were right next to the robot, I still couldn’t hit it much
I tried really hard for the rest of the ride but still couldn’t really get close
Then we went to ride the People Mover, but it had just reopened so the line was crazyyy and completed blocked off the entire path!
We totally contributed to the chaos by joining the line, but we were soon rerouted by a cast member!
We didn’t wait toooo long in the end.
Jamie was waving at oncoming cars but no one waved back at him
He said he had lost all of his confidence after that
When we were on our way down the moving walkway after the ride Jamie casually said,
“What would you do if I curled up into a ball like an armadillo and rolled down here knocking everyone down like a bowling ball knocking down pins?” I love that he has these thoughts
Jamie wanted to do It’s A Small World next!
You heard correctly, this was HIS decision
The wait was posted at 20 minutes but we walked straight on.
It was 10pm now and the park was finally quietening down!
When we loaded into the boat Jamie waved at the Cast Member on the bridge and she waved back
So he felt a bit happier after no one waved on the People Mover
We got a personalised goodbye, YAY.
Then we used our fastpass at the Tomorrowland Speedway!
We’ve never done this before!
Jamie let me drive, and let me tell you, it was absolute chaos.
And quite frankly traumatising for all involved.
I couldn’t get the steering right at all and we were flying all over the place. Jamie kept shouting, “YOU’RE OVER-CORRECTING!!”
We were cracking up.
He soon took over the steering, which went a bit better I must say.
Jamie found it so funny until I reminded him that he’d just bought himself a new car and I was insured to drive it
Then we wandered out in front of the castle and just stood around for a while and took it all in.
There was a weird moment where some really loud music suddenly started playing for seemingly no reason (definitely not the kiss goodnight), and it ended with a sleeping beauty bit where the castle switched between pink and blue
I had no idea what this was, but it was fun!?
We walked up Main Street and left the park at about 11:15pm, and there was a boat at the dock waiting for us
We got back to our room at the Wilderness Lodge, then took our mugs downstairs to make some tea at Roaring Fork.
Then we ate our cupcakes we’d picked up from Sprinkles earlier!
Well, when I say we ate OUR cupcakes, I mean we ate MY cupcake.
Jamie suddenly decided that banana was his favourite thing in the world, and the fact that his cupcake was just called “black and white” gave him a fear of the unknown for what it might taste like
My banana one was delicious though!
We went to bed a little after midnight!
Goodnight!
Day 9 Sunday 28th January 2018 Part 1 – Be Our Guest and Magic Kingdom
Good morning!
We had another slow morning today. We watched the episode of Breaking Bad (spoiler alert) where Hank dies, which wasn’t very Disney appropriate but oh well.
It was a humid and cloudy morning, which had been rare this trip!
We had a lunch reservation at 1pm for Be Our Guest, so we headed down to the boats at 12:15pm, and there was one pulling in!
Gloomy.
Hello Magic Kingdom!
We checked in at Be Our Guest and sat in the main ballroom.
We always pre-order to avoid the line at the beginning.
I’d decided to try something new this time as I aaalways get the turkey sandwich.
Today I got the Croque Monsieur, and I wasn’t disappointed!
I think they do really good food for a quick service restaurant.
It wasn’t as greasy as the gourmet grilled cheese I’d had previously from Roaring Fork so that was good, I probably preferred this one.
Tasty!
Jamie refused to be adventurous, and he got his favourite turkey sandwich
Jamie also used a snack credit for a master’s cupcake, and I got a sneaky bite of it
Yaaay we love Be Our Guest
After lunch we made our way to Buzz, but it had started raining really heavily, so we took shelter at the Mad Tea Party!
Before the ride started we discussed NOT spinning too much right after lunch, but we also didn’t want to be losers who don’t spin
We went a bit hardcore though, and had to stop spinning half way though
Then we used our fastpass at Buzz!
I sat in the good seat on the left, but Jamie still beat me
After Buzz it was raining pretty bad, so we decided to do some rain-appropriate attractions.
First up was Carousel of Progress!
I realised how much I quote this attraction at home.
“No more kerosene! No more gas!”
Non-Disney people must think I’m so weird.
Next we did Mickey’s Philharmagic!
It’s so pretty in here.
Oh my goodness, the 3D in this show is so dated now
With what they can do these days you’d think they’d update it…
It gave me a minor headache!
The smells also weren’t very strong today.
But it’s a good opportunity for a sing-along so I was happy.
When we exited the show the rain had stopped, YAY.
Day 9 Sunday 28th January 2018 Part 2 – Magic Kingdom
We headed into Adventureland with no real plan, and ended up in the Swiss Family Treehouse!
I told Jamie that people think of it as just a queue… for nothing.
He liked it though!
He even went as far as to say it was his “favourite ride”
Jamie almost bumped his head on the roof here
They should cut back / rearrange the trees here and make this a firework viewing spot
Cute boy
After leaving the treehouse we did the Country Bear Jamboree, for our first time together!
As we were waiting in the loading area, the cast member there had a really dark and self-deprecating sense of humour and it was making us laugh so much.
At one point he said, “Please don’t eat your food in the theatre, you don’t have to worry about the bears eating it because they’re already stuffed… I tell that joke every day… actually every 15 minutes… it never gets old… but I do…”
He also told us to mind the doors as they will swing open towards you at 60mph
And he mentioned that “Disney likes to mess with us, so they’ve moved the fireworks from 8pm to 7:55pm… for absolutely no reason at all."
(This was true according to the schedule on MDE today!)
Anyway we loved him, he was really funny.
“Give me a little intro there Gomer!”
Below is me when I want to buy a Disney plush, but Jamie reminds me we have to split the gift card 50/50, and I've already spent my half.
Tears will be the chaser for your wine!
I really enjoyed this show a lot more than I thought I would
Now I know why people consider it such a classic.
It was really fun, and funny!
After seeing the Country Bears we went to use our fastpass at Space Mountain!
But first Jamie had to use the restroom in Tomorrowland, and when he came out he did that thing he does where pretends not to have seen me, and storms off into the park by himself while I run after him
He did it a bunch of times this trip and I got it on camera this time
ANYWAY.
We rode Space Mountain with our arms up the entire time and it was very intense!
We need to do that every time.
It was now 4pm, so we headed out of the park.
Before we left I got a photopass picture on Roy’s bench in Town Square.
While I was there the Dapper Dans were out and it was so nice and atmospheric
I’m also wearing a balloon crown
We got a boat straight back to the Wilderness Lodge.
Here’s the unthemed staircase we took every day.
I don’t know why I’m showing this but here you go.
You’re welcome
We got back to the room and ate Jamie’s “black and white” cupcake that we got from Sprinkles yesterday
