Guys, I know you're probably not as excited about this as I am, but this has made getting up early on a Monday morning worthwhile!

People know me for 3 things:
1. My love for all things Harry Potter.
2. My love for Disney
3. (And probably equal with HP) my obsession to anything purple!

I'll still buy some magicband skins from magicyourband.com (definitely getting a DISunplugged one) and I made a purple leopard print one, but boy, am I excited!
Especially because I get 2 this trip!

Disney resolves problems fast. Complaints about ticket increases and cutting costs by firing employees and characters can be fixed by adding a new color magic band.

So ... I just want to make sure I'm understanding you correctly. You're excited about the purple MagicBand, right?

I actually used nail polish to paint one of my MBs purple (it was more of a light purple, though). Apparently I should have just waited a while and I could have saved myself the $5 I paid for the nail polish.

See, I don't care about the ticket increases, how many of the people on this board are buying a one day ticket?
So, a purple magic band makes me happy when I wasn't peeved about anything in the first place!

Yes, that's exactly what I'm excited about.
I painted mine last time too, but I don't get my bands ahead of time because they won't post them internationally, and prefer to have purple off the bat so I don't have to fiddle around painting my band in my resort room one night.

my obsession to anything purple!
I purchased a purple band with HM hitchhiking ghosts on it last Fall at the MK underneath Space Mountain. Love it. However, I find the new thin style doesn't seem to be as secure as the old model so I'd recommend you either buy a 3 pack of the band sliders when you get to a park or wrap a hair elastic around it. Also, the magic bandits don't snap in as securely as with the old band. If you want to bling your band, I'd just get the sliders instead. Enjoy your purple band! :-)

I'm glad you're excited about your purple magic band. Sometimes it's the little things that make us happy.
Enjoy having that big rubber strap wrapped around your sweaty arm when you visit in August :)
I suspect that when we go in July, my magic band will be secured in my pocket or around a belt loop or anywhere other than on my wrist.

And not to derail the thread, but it isn't only one-day passes that had a price increase. Multi-day passes went up an average of about 8% I think. I don't know about anyone else but my income sure didn't go up 8%.

If you love purple but don't get a purple band, you can take the band you do get and strap it onto your wrist so tightly that your entire hand/arm turn purple. Problem solved!
What if, rather than firing cast members, Disney saved money by only issuing smaller bands? They could call it an 'enviromental' change to use less rubber. Then we would all have purple hands (though I keep mine on my belt loop). If they could save $.04 per band we might be able to get the world showcase players back.

I had no idea that they'd changed the bands?!
I'll be sure to pack some thin hair ties with me for extra security!

Now that's an idea!!

The bands never bothered me one bit last time we were there, and we hit the water parks and played mini golf in scorching direct sun, I think I'll be ok.
Plus, I'm a girl, I've usually got a hair tie on my wrist, so I'm used to that.

And yes they did, I misspoke. Everyone seems to be up in arms about the tired pricing, I've not really seen any outrage on the regular ticket price increase, but then, they go up every year, so it's no different than every other year in the last decade.
Plus, I don't go every year, so the increases don't bother me as much.
ETA: since my last trip, the AUD has dropped roughly 15-20 cents per dollar, so I'm actually not just dealing with 2 years of 8% increases, but the difference in the dollar.
It is what it is. If it's too expensive, we don't go. It's simple. No point in whining about it, that's life. As Corey said, I can't afford bora bora either, so I don't go.

You're just weird - but I like that about you.

True, which is probably why you haven't heard much complaining, plus people were too busy complaining about the tiered one-day tickets.
Folks were complaining last year when they hiked the AP price by $200. I got burned by that since I had procrastinated buying our passes. Cost me an extra $400.

it's all part of the charm!

Yeah my point exactly.
And like we've said, most people complaining about the one day price hike probably aren't even affected by it due to the fact that they know better than to buy a one day pass!!
Well had I procrastinated any longer (literally by 2 days) it would have cost me an extra 8%, sure I would have kicked myself for waiting, but I also just figure "ahh well"
Maybe it's the laid back nature of us Aussies? ;)

I don't think most people were complaining about the price as much as they were about the tiering. Yes, it's only the 1-day pass for now, but we all know that's just step one and the multi-day tickets will be affected soon.

So complaining about something that hasn't even happened yet?
Logical.

With the new purple magicband, what does the luggage tag look like? My grandbabies are excited to get their bands and luggage tags.

Oh bother!
I saw it on a Facebook group yesterday (either the DISboards on Facebook group or the less great Disney Dorks group)
I reckon if you google it, something should come up, these things spread like wildfire among us Disney fans!

This may be it. Don't know it there is any "official" confirmation yet. :-) Apologies for the tiny imperfect image. Looks like Mickey & Minnie cuddling on a scooter/Vespa. Cute.
