Purchasing Towel Packs

Okay.....we just got back from our 14 day trip split between OKW and BCV. After arriving I ordered an extra towel pack for OKW and they brought 8 towels, 8 hand towels, 12 wash cloths and 3 bath mats. We were out when they were brought. I thought this was a lot so I called and asked housekeeping what I was supposed to have and she said 4 towels, 2 hand towels and 4 wash cloths. She said not to worry about the extras we were not charged. Okay.....we check out. I didn't really look closely at that bill or the one from BCV until today and we were not charged at either resorts???? At BCV I ordered two towel packs because after I was told at OKW what was supposed to come in them...I figured we would want two. So they brought a boat load over too. More than what I was supposed to get. Not charged for either. Has others experienced this??

Not the same, but our first all family DVC visit at VWL. DDiL looks around the 2 bedroom villa and decides that she really will need more towels for the family use, bathing the 3 little ones, etc. So she finds a Mousekeeper and asks and gets probably a whole other set...8 of everything. DH and I aren't "home" at the time and we figure we'll get charged. No, I now just figure it was some pixie dust for the family.

Maybe its one of those type of charges that are used mainly to dissuade people from ordering extra towels. The charge is posted on the literature, etc. but they don't "actually" charge unless you use it to excess. I can imagine that if extra towels were "free" that a LOT of members would be calling for extra towels. Thus more laundry, etc. Maybe?

We have requested extra towels every trip from Housekeeping and never been charged. I think the poster is right; they will give you a few extra if asked nicely and you don't overdo it. They post the charge to discourage too much of this. That said, they certainly can charge you if they want, it is in the literature.

Maybe that is it then. We have never purchased the extra towels until this trip.

However, I would also assume that you will be charged for them and then be pleasantly suprised if/when you aren't!

I dont mind being charged. Its not a whole lot of money. I just dont need trash and towel everyday.

We just checked in at SSR today. I had to call Housekeeping because we had no sheets for the pull-out sofa. I requested extra towels, too, and the lady made sure to inform me there would be a charge for them. I don't know if they DID charge us, but she told me they would.

The only time I requested extra towels was when we were staying in a studio at SSR a few years ago. Never did get charged for them.

Wow. One would think the good CS thing to do would be to waive the fee considering the inconvenience of not having bedding for the pullout sofa.

We stayed at SSR 2 weeks ago and requested more towels, and did get charged the $6.00. So any of you that didnt get charged got lucky!
