Purchasing Tickets, MDE for a group, and glitches?

I hope this is the right place for this question.

I am up to buying tickets for our trip in August. We are a group of 8 with 3 rooms. I have 2 reservations, my husband and I in one room, our 2 daughters and my sister's 2 daughters in the other room (all are 20 or over). My sister has one room for herself and her husband.

We are all linked up as family in MDE, with the ability to look at all plans, and make any plans for each other.

I am buying 4 tickets, my sister is buying 4 tickets - directly from Disney - so linking will be by a confirmation number - I think?

I don't know what the confirmation will look like? Will it be one number for 4 tickets - and if so, is it better to buy the tickets separately so I can correctly link 2 of them to my daughters (2 out of 4, in the 4 person room)??

Then, I think we have a 'glitch' showing up on MDE - the Disney app shows my sister and her family having 4 day hoppers - unused, part of a package incentive - she has not purchased tickets, it is just room only so far - they did go to Disney back in the simpler days 2 years ago for 4 days - the tickets were used.

I can see these phantom tickets on the app, my sister cannot. No one can see them on the website. Her MDE on the website marks her as having a key to the kingdom - does not on the app.

What???? and any suggestions on how to fix that?

I don't think it needs to be fixed, either. Because of the makeup of your parties and the three rooms, buy your tickets as Will Call through the Ticket website and not through MDE. Then, manually link the confirmation number to each person in the combined party.

In this way, you will know exactly who is receiving which ticket. Each Will Call ticket will have a confirmation number.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I purchased the 4 tickets that I am responsible for - the Disney website forced me to sign in to my account (and by default MDE) when ordering the tickets.

This made me a little nervous - but, I went with it and all worked well. I was allowed to select who I wanted the 4 tickets assigned to during the ordering process since we already had the friends & family list set up with everyone - all 8 in our friends and family list was in the drop-down box during the assignment of each ticket. So, I was able to just pay for the park tickets for my daughters in the room of 4 - the other 2 in the room do not have tickets until my sister purchases them. I did stick with selecting 'will call' as the delivery method to make sure that the tickets could be linked to MDE without physical tickets. I did wind up with just 1 confirmation number for the purchase of 4 tickets.

After purchasing, the tickets were automatically linked in MDE correctly to the 4 in my family I selected during the ordering process, even with the mixed room reservations.

Hope that helps someone going forward.

I just did this with a party of 10...2 families/2 rooms. I called Disney to make sure my families were linked correctly so that when it came time to make our FP+ selections I knew it was done correctly and there wouldn't be any problems. I bought tickets through Maple Leaf Tickets (cheaper than thru Disney) and had no trouble linking each ticket to a specific person. If you want others to see all selections on their smartphones you need to "invite" them to join by sending them an email thru MDE. Once they accept they can make their own changes via MDE

Okay, now my sister bought tickets for herself and her daughters - they are assigned to the 4 of them.

Now, those 'phantom' 4 day tickets for herself and her daughters have not been corrected with the purchase of new, real tickets.

This is what it looks like ...

On the Disney website, under My Disney Experience - everything looks correct for everyone - we all see the 8 of us on the friends & family list, we all see the 3 rooms reservations, we all see the 6 or 7 day hoppers that were just purchased in the last 2 days - one ticket assigned to each person. There is nothing extraneous on the website.

Now, the Disney app on our phones ...

What my sister and brother-in-law see on their profiles is exactly what I outlined above. As an aside, they only made one room reservation for themselves.

What myself, and everyone else, including her children see (I made 2 room reservations, her 2 children are sharing a room with my 2) ...

the friends & family list is correct - all 8
the reservation list includes all 3 reservations
tickets and passes is a mess - for my family - everything looks right, one 7 day pass each
tickets and passes - for my sister's family - it shows that they each have a 4 day and a 6 day - the 6 day is what was just purchased today, the 4 day is the 'ghost'

Just disregard the app and use the website for FP booking.

That's our plan for now - but, I think I'll have to call someone to try and get it straightened out before we hit the parks since we would be using the app in the park

Is the app quirky in general? Or am I just lucky?

When you are in the park, you won't be needing to check your tickets. You'll be checking FPs and Dining.

I take screenshots of my FP schedule and a screenshot of my daily plan in MDE.

You don't need to waste time calling Disney for something that doesn't affect your trip.

If it bothers you, add a Family member named "ghost" to your MDE and reassign all 4 bogus tickets to ghost via your app.
