As a new DVC member we wanted to purchase season passes to start our next trip with. Does it really make any difference if we purchase them ahead of time, and then redeem the certificate when we arrive, or just walk to to the ticketing booth at the first park we visit and purchase from scratch that way? I was unclear if we needed to purchase ahead of time and receive the certificate to use the DVC discount.

Thanks!

Nope, you don't need to purchase the voucher ahead of time. The only time this seemed imperative was when the 15-month special was going on. You just need to bring your DVC membership card along with identification directly to the ticket booth at any park entrance. Every adult in your household will need proof that their address is the same as yours (such as driver's license listing the address) to also receive the discount. The discount only applies to those persons living in your household.

HTH! Evey =)

It does not matter. The only thing a certificate would save you from would be if the AP price increases between now and the time you redeem the certificate.

We usually just purchase/renew in person rather than have to keep track of the certificate or will call number.

appreciate the info!!! i never thought about the address on the license....we moved a few months ago and my wife has renewed her license since then so we have different addresses on ours....i'll have to look into that one!

Can the annual passes with DVC discount be purchased at any park entry point? I am thinking the Epcot International gateway entry.

For a Seasonal Pass, one must reside in FL, owning DVC does not meet that requirement. For an AP, you only have to live at the same address as a member and meet the "relative" requirements so it really not that big of a deal if you have 2 different addresses listed. Plus there are other things that can document residence besides a DL.

Hubby and I picked up ours at TTC last October, and son picked up his at Magic Kingdom.

Sorry to differ here, but the address does matter for all adults. When our son renewed his driver's license, he put his college address on it rather than our home. When we went to trade the vouchers for the annual passes, they checked licenses and would not give him an annual pass because his address was not the same as ours. We had to wait until my parents flew in later that day and they brought along son's old license, which had our home address on it.

I put my daughter on our account as an owner. So we actually have two addresses that our family or her family can use to get an AP. We've never had a problem getting APs for us or anyone in her family. OP, we always get ours from International Gateway. Actually just got my renewal last week as we are here now.

You can purchase APs at Guest Services at any park entrance area including the International Gateway.

The rule is that you meet 2 criteria. That you be on the list of qualifying relatives (which is very broad) and that you live at the same address as an owner. How much documentation they require may vary. They can, and often do, require documentation of the address which can take a number of forms. My point wasn't that the address doesn't matter, but that there are other ways to document address besides just DL. In the case in question I'm assuming that both spouses are owners and in that case it does not matter except that it makes 2 addresses potentially qualifying for the discount.

I purchased mine ealy last time to beat the early august increase, this time I wll buy them in March to get the extra 2% disney visa $.
