I Love DVC said:Hmmmm.....we didn't know anything about DVC when we first took the SSR tour. I was under the impression that you could only buy at SSR. But if you buy at another resort, don't you not get that $1200 off buying incentive? I'm happy with SSR (I think). The rooms look really nice and I like the "condo" feel vs. "hotel layout" at BWV, BCV, etc.
Abner has some good advice for you here... I called when I was ready to buy and at first my guide started selling SSR to me BUT, thankfully, through the boards, I knew I didn't have to buy at SSR... I'm certainly NOT knocking SSR. It's beautiful BUT I do love the BW area and don't care for DTD area and when I want a day to just walk around and hang out, I wouldn't choose DTD... That was my motivation to say no to SSR and start asking my guide to start working on BWV's. The incentives didn't matter to me. He was very helpful and did not continue to push SSR when he knew what I wanted and my reasons around it. We liked Byron (our guide) and I'd recommend him anytime.abner1776 said:Before you call up MS, be prepared !! Know what you want and the pricing available. If you don't, MS will steer you to SSR.
When I called, I knew from a DVC friend who the guide was for my state and I called her directly. I told her what resort I wanted and when she gave me two choices of UY, I knew which one to pick. She knew right away that I wanted VWL and would not go for SSR, so it actually made the phone call more enjoyable for both of us.
Like buying a car...be prepared and know what you want....before you talk to the saleman.

Ask your DVC-Guide (salesperson for the resort you wish to purchase!
And if you can and do, can you still book at this resort 11 months in advance vs 7?
Yes!
Will it be your "home resort"?
