Purchasing DVC first time for new resort in the future, what will it be like?

My goal is to purchase at Disneyland Hotel when it opens (looks like construction is still a go!). But this will be my first contract, and I have a feeling it'll be a resort that sells fast. Maybe I'm scarred by trying to buy merchandise on shopDisney in the past few months, but could it possibly be something that is cutthroat, or that sells out in minutes, or hours, or days, or weeks, or months, etc.?

Will there be an announced date & time when it does go on sale?

Do I need to be in a resort or park to buy? Can I buy from home?

• VGC took about a year to sell out. This one is supposed to be much larger.

• You can buy from anywhere in the world. You will have to sign paperwork which they'll mail you but they'll hold your spot.

This is thousands of dollars to be spending. It won't sell out as fast as a special pin or whatever. It will most likely take a year or more to sell out. If there is a certain use year you want I'd try to buy that sooner than later cause you never know which use year is going to be really popular but even that will take months to sell out at least.

You cannot. There are many many countries that cannot buy DVC direct unless you are physically within the US.
