I will be purchasing a very small Beach Club contract next spring. If I am able to get 2011 pts ., will Disney let me reallocate those points to an existing reservation? What if points are borrowed, will they let me put those back and use the new BC points? What if I bank those points? Would they still re-allocate them for borrowed points or current UY points?

Not quite clear of situation -- are you saying you have points already and have an existing DVC point reservation and are going to add on points? In any event, as to borrowed points the answer is no because they can never be put back into the year from which they were borrowed. As to being able to use the new BCV points to replace points in another reservation, the answer is maybe but it depends on situation and without knowing what prior reservation you have and which resort points you used, it is difficult to answer.

I plan on making a Beach Club reservation in the fall. I only have enough points for 4 nights. At 7 months, I will be using other points to complete the 5th night (hopefully there is availability). So I will have the reservatio in place prior to purchasing the points. I will be borrowing the 7 month mark points. Once my purchase is complete, I will have to bank the 2011 pts. as my UY is June. So I would like to then re-allocate the borrowed 7 months points with the banked new Beach Club points. I have heard of occasions where borrowed points have been put back into their previous UY's. I was wondering if this would be such an occasion.

If I understand and your making a ressie with BC points and want to change them at 7 months to a diff resorts points, the answer would be no. I am not sure I understand though.

If you make the with say SSR points at 7 month window and at 5 months want to use diff points you can do that.

I wouldn't count on it. I have heard of MS banking points from a new purchase after the cut off date as a one time exception, but not putting borrowed points back.

OK, I think I understand now. Sometime this fall you will be making a reservation for next fall 11 months out for BCV with BCV points but want an extra night and don't have enough BCV points to do it. At 7 months you will make a reservation for that last night using points from another resort but to do so you need to borrow those points -- thus for the other resort you currently have no June 2012 points but instead June 2013 points that you would need to borrow. Thereafter you will add on points at BCV and hopefully that will include June 2011 points which you will bank (and note DVD will in fact allow such banking even if purchase puts you beyond the banking deadline; just make sure that is clear up front when doing the purchase). You then want to use those banked BCV points to replace the borrowed points in the reservation that were used and borrowed at 7 months out to get that last day.

The answer is you can thereafter replace those borrowed points from another resort with the new banked BCV points in that reservation but it will not result in your being able to return the borrowed June 2013 points from the other resort to the 2013 use year. Borrowed points once borrowed stay borrowed and cannot be returned to original use year and thus if removed from that reservation will have to be used for a trip that ends no later than May 31, 2013, the end of your June 2012 use year.

More than once I have heard of DVC replacing borrowed points when you've purchased directly. It's not a rule so I wouldn't count on it but you may get lucky. I've not tried it myself but I have reallocated points without any issue.

If you buy your contract from Disney direct, they will allow you to replace borrowed points with new ones. You can find the information on the member website under the link for Home Resort Rules and Regulations.

Nice to see it is written Sandi - I hadn't thought it was but had heard they were doing it. :thumbsup2

If I'm understanding correctly the answer is that we will not know because these issues are handled on a case by case basis. What I'm hearing is that you will be making BCV reservations with BCV points inside the home resort window. You will then be purchasing another contract, I"m assuming resale, also at BCV, and then want to sub the points into the existing contract made with BCV (plus one night made at 7 months with other points) If my understanding is accurate, that all points are the same home resort OR any nights were made after 7 months out, the answer is almost certainly that they will allow it. You might be told no and have to call back or ask for a supervisor though but I'm confident one could be successful in the situation I laid out.

If this were a reservation made with home resort points and you wanted to do the same with non home resort points, the answer would likely be no. However, you would still have the option of booking any available villas for your time and canceling the corresponding days in your current reservation then linking accomplishing much the same thing. Of course you could also wait list in this situation if needed.

I had a reservation this past August which I made 10 months earlier. I borrowed from my 2012 points for part of this reservation. In June of 2011 I purchased a direct add on and it had 2010 points included. They let me bank the 2010 points and then put them towards my 2011 reservation and reallocated the 2012 points I borrowed back into my 2012 bucket of points.

In case you want to see the actual wording from the Home Resort Rules and Regs.

II. USING HOME RESORT VACATION POINTS
5. Banking and Borrowing Home Resort Vacation Points.
b. 2) Once Borrowed, Home Resort Vacation Points cannot be returned to their original Use Year and will expire if not used by the end of the Use Year into which they were Borrowed, except that in the event Club Members purchase an additional Ownership Interest after Borrowing Home Resort Vacation Points, Club Members may substitute newly allocated Home Resort Vacation Points of a current Use Year for the Borrowed Home Resort Vacation Points that were used toward a future reservation and the Borrowed Home Resort Vacation Points will be returned to their original Use Year.
