Hi, everyone.
Does anyone know if it's possible to purchase Disney art that is shown in the galleries on board once you are back on land? My wife and I fell in love with a piece when we sailed a few months ago, but were unable to commit to that large of a "surprise" purchase. We'd now like to look into getting it.

Thanks for any help!

A lot of the Disney art on the ship is by Thomas Kinkade. He passed away but it is still possible to get the prints. You may just want to look for a Kinkade gallery in your area or on line or simply google "Disney art" and see what pops up. I don't know that you can buy it directly from DCL after you debark.

The Kinkade works are commisioned especially for DCL and the parks, They have different authentication codes signed on the front of each work. That may effect each piece's value to a collector. Sorry that does not answer the original poster's question though.

Interesting. I live very close to 2 Kinkade galleries and they have some wonderful pieces. Some are are relatively inexpensive.....I'm thinking the least expensive Disney piece was $100 and some that are several thousands. It was explained to DH and I that some of the pieces in the galleries are in the same lot as what is available in the parks and on the ships. The proprietor explained about the different lots and how to tell if the piece was done by Kinkade or by one of his apprentices. I don't know but the pieces on the ship and on land are beautiful. :)

This might be a long shot, but if you know the name of the artist (the name of the painting would help too) you could call the Art of Disney store and see if they have it. We've bought quite a few items from Walt Disney World Art of Disney stores this way. The number is 877-560-6477 then select option 2

I purchased a Kinkade print while on DCL and it is a "IDE" (I think) edition indicating it was from Disney International gallery. At least according to the art cast member.

I have no idea really, this is just what we were lead to believe. Either way, the OP should be able to find what they are looking for at a gallery it just may not have been created specifically for DCL. :thumbsup2

Hey there - have you tried Acme Archives? They are like the above recommended site (Disney Fine Art) —a licensee company of Walt Disney Company and have a variety of artists on their roster that are present in the Parks (I'm not positive about the Cruise Lines though).

What did the painting look like?

:cutie:

There is another artist that had a lot of pieces onboard that I really liked. I wrote down his name, but I'd have to search for it.

We collect Darren Wilson original artwork and I keep in contact with him. Let me know what you are interested in and maybe I can help you.

I desperately am looking for a Captain Mickey by Darren Wilson. My wife saw if on board and fell in love. I thought I could find it on land, but have had NO SUCH LUCK!
