Purchasing B2G2 days free or annual pass?

Is there any benefit to purchasing a B2G2 days free ticket and turning it into an annual pass while at Universal? Or should I just buy him the cheapest annual pass now before we go? I already have an annual pass myself to get the room discount

If you get the B2G2 deal from Undercover Tourist or wherever, you save whatever their discount was. It's not much. Personal choice whether that's worth doing an upgrade vs just picking up the AP...

If I just get the AP where do you pick it up? At RP ticket desk?

Yes.
You might be able to do an upgrade from the B2G2 tickets to the AP there as well, but if it's complicated for any reason they would send you to guest services at the parks.

When I have done this in the past you always had to go to guess services after entering the park.
