I am not a resident of PA, can I purchase the cheapest annual pass (I think it is $114 right now)? On the US website it says FL residents only. Would I really have to purchase the middle grade pass?

Also, how much of a savings do you get on a room if you have this pass? We are staying at Royal Pacific in May 2009 for 7 nights and am trying to weigh that over the AAA discount. I know discounts aren't out yet for then but what would the savings have been this year for both (annual vs. AAA)?

Thank you,

Diane

The Power Pass is for Florida Residents only & I don't think you get the normal discounts as the Preferred & Premiere passes do (I know for sure you don't get the free parking perk)

Right now the Preferred pass is $199 for 18 months of access (6 months free)- If you break it down on a "yearly" cost, the pass is $132/yr or $199 for 18 months

AP rates can get down to as low as $139/night for RPR

There are no discounts associated with the power pass; hotel, dining nor shopping.

You would have to purchase the preferred or the premier pass in order to take advantage of the room discounts.

If you go over to the Universal Resorts board, there are two date and rate threads, one for 2007 (a sticky) and one for 2008 that should give you some idea of what the rates have historically been during your stay.

Hi Diane, I posted some replies to you in another thread. Post #3 in the following tread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1925864 has some very good answers to your question about discounts on rooms. My stay this year is from 10/18-10/21. The supersaver rates are better for that stay by over $60 per night compared to my AP rate. Last year for my October stay the AP rate was better than supersaver. It's hard to tell which rate is better but if you book directly with Universal, you can modify rates up to 6 days before your trip. You can modify rates more than once if you see a better rate. The most important thing is to book the best rate you can find but keep checking for a better one -- right up to the last day.
(In the time I was typing this post I just re-checked my dates and now the AP price is better than supersaver by another $10 per night -- almost covers hotel parking)

I just called about the 2 Park Annual Power Pass (114.95)and was told that it is for everyone not just FL residents however, it has no free parking, no food, ticket or merchandise discounts and starts on the day it is used.

What are supersaver rates and when do they typically put them up or are they up for May 09?

Thanks,

Diane

That's correct and frankly...it's worth the extra money to get the Preferred.

Super saver rates are not up for next year yet. Usually, the super saver rate gives you a % discount on your room based on how long you stay. This is the super saver rate for the RPR for the rest of this year (it's from RPR web site)...

Select Nights August 17 - November 8
Stay 3 nights – save up to 15%
Stay 4 nights – save up to 20%
Stay 5 nights – save up to 25%, as low as $160.50 per night

Select Nights November 9 – December 25
Stay 2 nights - save up to 15%
Stay 3 or 4 nights - save up to 20%
Stay 5 nights – save up to 25%, as low as $160.50 per night

DW and I usually plan our trip for September or later so I don't know when they post the rates (they are always up by the time we start planning), maybe someone that goes earlier in the year will jump in with some details for you on when they've seen the super saver rates start to pop up. There are many other posts with with people asking about them -- I'm sure when people start getting the deals they will post them.

Annual Pass discount rate can be as high as 30% per night.

We got one preferred (the one that is $199) pass for hubby and the $114 one for ds and myself. We only need 1 pass for parking and discounts. We live in NC. Granted hubbys pass lasts longer but thats not a big deal to us.

I was just looking into buying the Power Pass today. Is there any difference between that one and the others if we already get free parking and the dining/merchandise discounts?

If you have a Preferred or Premier AP, you will continue to get the discounts. However...the Power Pass has blackout dates so you want to make sure you aren't going during a blackout period.

We'd be there next July/August, I think the summer blackout dates end after the 4th of July. We don't have the other annual passes but we get the discounts, so getting this pass instead of the other wouldn't make a difference right? We haven't have Universal AP's before so I was just curious how it works. Thanks!

As long as you already get the discounts and take notice of the blackout dates, you should be fine.
