I am about 50 point shy for an upcoming honeymoon trip.. If I buy/rent points from another member, can I use them to book my at home resort in my use year window if they own a different home resort?

No. Points keep their home resort and use year when they rented or transferred. If you want to book at your home resort you need to look for points from another owner for that same resort. You can get points from a different UY and just have to make certain they are valid to be used for the dates of your stay. They wouldn't show up online for you if they were transferred so you'd just have to call in to use them.

If you rent "points" you are purchasing a reservation that another member made with their points and they fully control until you check in. If you want to add a few nights, you need a one time transfer in of points (you are limited to one transfer in or out each UY). If you transfer points and want to use them at 11 months out, they must match your resort and your UY. Otherwise, if they don't match your UY, you will need to call to make the reservation and lose the one hour headstart. If they don't match your resort that you want to book at 11 months out, you can't use them until seven months out. And you still need to call MS since they don't match UY and resort.

Mostly true... if you have enough of your own home resort points to book the first night or two at 8 am online at 11 months, you can call 1 hour later at 9 am to modify it: book the last few nights and complete the reservation with the transferred points that have the same home resort but different UY.
