My DH & I just purchased BLT about a month ago or so. We are happy with our resort & love the location but now I'm wishing we would have held out for VGF. The pp is lower than we paid and now I'm wondering if DVC will let us transfer to VGF. We could have purchased more points if that's the case so I'm hoping. We haven't made a payment yet besides the initial cc. Would our only choice be the secondary market? We don't want to do that.

If you are still within your 10 day cancellation period for the BLT purchase, you can get out of that contract.

If it has been more than 10 days, the points are yours. You would have to re-sell yourself (likely at a significant loss) and separately purchase VGF.

If you're still over but close to the 10 days, you could try contacting your salesperson and see if anything can be done. But they may be unwilling or it could simply be too late (i.e. deed already filed.)

Sorry you're bummed about that. :( You knew VFG was going to be soon though, right? Why did you buy at BLT if you really wanted VGF?

True Amy-we just thought pp would be a lot higher. Don't get me wrong-we love BLT, just thought that for the price difference we could pick up extra points. At least this way we can walk to MK. Honestly, being a DVC member I can't complain! Just thought I'd double check with someone that may have more knowledge than me :)

Be happy with your BLT points and just start waiting for VGF resale contracts. Think of the money you'll be saving!!

This! I think this might be my favorite thing about BLT. It's so nice to walk past the masses waiting for the monorail or buses after MK closes.

If you are new to DVC with your BLT, then you would not have been offered the $145/pt on Jun 19, anyway. From what has been posted, the initial offering for non-members will be higher (?$150-ish).

Personally, if BLT and VGF were being sold at the same time and BLT were only $10-20/pt higher, I would probably choose BLT for the convenience of walking to MK and the amenities at CR. We have stayed at GF once, and it was really nice, but I think being the last monorail stop before MK is going to turn out to be a bummer, particularly if poly DVC happens.

You're right-this is one of the main reasons we bought here! And I didn't even think about not being able to buy at $145. It helps to have the perspective of others! :)

Even if the VGF price per point is a little better than BLT (but good point above as to whether the $145 would have been available to you if you were not previously a DVC member), the points requirements are soooo much more. A one week stay at BLT over memorial week costs us 317 pts for a standard room; at VGF, a standard room would be 412 points for the same week.

To the OP, while I can see how you might be upset, I think that you will be very happy at BLT. We own there and it is an amazing resort.

To anyone else reading this, this exact situation is one of the main reasons why I recommend buying resale. Had the OP bought resale and changed her mind, she would have been able to sell the contract and get at least 90% of her money back, if not more. Buying direct at current prices (and financing on top of that) essentially takes away all of your options. For the amount of money being spent, there should be no regrets.

This isn't an "I told you so" post directed at the OP, but a "learn from this example" post aimed at everyone else who is considering buying direct right now. To the OP, I hope that everything works out and you enjoy your membership. :)

I'm sure it will-thanks for the input!

We thought about buying secondary but we like to do the cruises and want more flexibility with it. :) I do think though if your just doing Disney that's an excellent option.

I agree you'll be happy there. And like someone else said, if you were new buyers, then you wouldn't get the $145 pp price anyway. It's going up to $150 according to the member website as of June 19th(ish).

But I'm going to buy some VGF.... maybe we can "hook up" down the road ;) I love BLT!!!

I'm one of those, things happen for a reason people. Hopefully you'll look back in a few years and say you were glad you did not buy at VGF and are happy you bought at BLT. I regret the first house I bought, but I learned a lot about that purchase. Location, location, location.

You could have bought more points at VGF but if you check out the points charts you may well have found that you could stay less days for those points than you can at BLT. BLT is point heavy by VGF is even more so!

The MFs for BLT are currently very low but the ones for VGF are $5.41, BLT are $4.50. 91c difference per point per year will soon mount up (obviously the mfs for any resort can change each year)

Not sure what the price will be for new DVC purchasers but it won't be £145.

You will love BLT. Being able to walk to MK or grab the monorail to TTTC is so convenient. When we have eaten at GF it has been a real bunfight sometimes to get on the monrail to get back to MK, it is usually full!

Don't feel bad about not waiting for VGF. You have made a good choice and with VGF being such a small resort I think it may prove difficult to get the most desirable reservations at the 11month window, especially with the fixed week option for up to 35% of the inventory. BLT has lots of advantages and even though I am sure VGF will be wonderful and I hope to manage to get a reservation there at the 7month mark eventually I am sure you will be happy with what you have.

Love BLT!! Having this as your home resort is awesome! Walking to/from MK and Wishes from your balcony... priceless!! Enjoy!! :)

The first time we hear "Welcome Home" I don't think we'll care anymore. I'll probably be fighting back tears-I'm a sap!!
