Paedophiles and sex offenders cannot be rehabilitated as their actions aren't made through choice, it's obviously something they cannot change. Take paedophilia for example. It's not like smoking or drinking alcohol, there isn't something in the likes of you and me that makes us think "go on, I'll try it just the once". These people are sick and will remain sick for the rest of their lives. Put them on their knees and put a bullet in the back of the head.

Oh heck, let's just bring back stoning. And chopping off hands. Aren't we fighting a war against one of those cruel, totalitarian regimes that practices such barbaric punishments?

This is America, an allegedly civilized nation. We don't punish our criminals by chopping off parts of their bodies.

Lifetime imprisonment is an acceptable and constitutional punishment for such crimes.

It's not that I don't understand the gut reaction for that kind of vengeance. But civilized, rational, moral people do not act on their gut reactions. That is what is supposed to separate us from the criminals.

So should these cases only be tried by judges who have been raped? Prosecuted by lawyers who have been raped? Tried before juries consisting entirely of rape victims?

Or does your world skip over all that justice and trial crap and just line people up and shoot them as soon as they are accused?

And how do you know I haven't experienced something along those lines?

There is evil in the world, but we do not combat it by striving to attain even greater heights of cruelty and violence.

If you can bring yourself to kill another human being as "punishment" for their crime you are no better than the criminal himself.

Actions are a choice, even if the urges stem from some heinous, twisted emotion within the rapist. Saying otherwise in a way excuses the behavior. "I'm sorry I raped this person, but it's just how I am. I can't help myself."

Lifetime imprisonment is a damn joke in this country and most peole know that.Prisoners get better health care than my family,they are given cable TV,healthy meals and allowed to sit on their *** all day in jail while everyone else is busting their humps to make a living and support these PARASITES on humanity.

I am civilized and moral enough to know that these pedophiles/rapists will NOT change.I lived it for 12 of the most horrible years of my life....you know what,he is on the streets and he had molested 16 CHILDREN ,2 of them being his own children and then he moved on to step children and even cousins,and last I heard he had the crap beat out of him for messing with his neighbors 9 yr old daughter.He got a slap on this wrist (3 months in jail)and WE live with the pain of it every day.

Do I think these monsters needs body parts cut off? NO,because it wouldn't stop them.They need shot in the head just like Gonz Of Lancashire stated above.Better yet I could think of one body part I would like to cut off and shove so far down their throats that they choke to death on it...and yes I would gladly do that deed and be sure to tie them down so they can't do anything about it...Make them helpless just like the kids they raped.

So I think that death penalty thread is fascinating in that most people seem to support death penalty for child rapists or sexual offenders.

I honestly can't imagine a crime more loathsome that a sexual one and I have a close family member who is a victim of a rape.

Would anyone here support violent sex offenders being castrated given the preponderance of evidence seems to support that sex offenders cannot be rehabilitated?

Agree that life in prison is the wrong answer. Not because I think it's a country club, it is a horrible place.

I think life in prison is a joke b/c it costs ME and YOU so much GD money!! IT does not re-habilitate most violent felons. It is a drain on the economy.

I really believe that punishment should be whatever was committed. if you kill,then you should be put to death. If you rape,then you should be raped. There are plenty of skanks in prison who would be more than willing to commit the act.
