Yes that was colorado we rented a house in Buena Vista which is @ about 8,000 ft. That was tough. we also went white water rafting. I wanted to drive but wife likes to fly i found round trip tikcets on NWA from Travelocity for $167 which for Denver is real cheap. :thumbsup2

we don't want any hurricanes either this year. We had a little bit of Katrina and a lot of Rita. The Bayou Teche came in to yard 200 feet. did not get close to the house but never saw the bayou come that far in.

We'll be at POFQ. Maybe we'll run into each other in the parks. We always meet at least one family from home.

:sunny: NO MORE HURRICANES...NO MORE HURRICANES!!!! :sunny:

Lafayette family here. Going in November for THanksgiving again. Have fun in the Heat this summer. And watch out on 90 in Iberia Parish, I drive it every weekday, its fun in a heart pounding, good Lord I almost got killed sort of way :rotfl2: .

And why no Hurricanes: I like spending hours on end cutting up fallen trees in my back yard :thumbsup2 .

DEFINITELY NO HURRICANES THIS YEAR, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! :wizard: :hippie:
I think we've had enough for a good long while around here. yikes. :sad2:

Everyone seems to be going in the summer. Our boys are still young (2 1/2 y/o), so we are able to go during the school year with no problems. I think when they are older we may try Mardi Gras week...I just hate the heat of the summer along with the crowds. Have any of you gone during Mardi Gras week before? 2 friends of mine went this year---one came back and said it was great - they hardly stood in lines. The other said it was really crowded. :confused3

:Pinkbounc for Louisiana DISers!!!

And we're doing our Grand Gathering in January 2007. We'll have 11 Lafayetters of all ages and it should be a blast!

Have a great time!

REEOGA you are right about Hwy 90 between Lafayette and St. Mary Parish (just past Jeanerette). It is nuts! :moped:  Untill they limit access to Hwy 90 it will be like that. :moped:

Magic2000, Hey it's nice to meet another St. Tammany here on the DIS. My DDS & I live in Old Mandeville close to the Lake. The flooding actually stopped 2 doors from us. Now if we could just get our roof fixed.

2PoohBears We have been to WDW several times at Mardi Gras. It is certainly less crowded than Christmas week or the summer. The weather is awesome. I find the crowds are really large if it falls the week of President's Week. The DDs & I always bring plenty of beads to give the characters. This year we didn't go as we lost most of Mardi Gras holidays for make up days. We spent Mardi Gras on St. Charles watching Rex & the truck parades.

We like to go during Mardi Gras when Mardi Gras is in early Feb. Value season makes any lines a lot more bearable!

The state troopers love me on that stretch of Hwy

Metairie, here!! We are going to brave Hurricane season in the Wilderness Lodge in mid-September due to the free dining. This will be the first trip for my 15 mos old (she will be 20 mos then). I figured she deserved a vacation after we had to evacuate for 3 weeks and were out of our home for 4 months thanks to Katrina!

NO HURRICANES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Although I don't drive Hwy 90, I had to laugh at some of those comments.

It must be a lot like I-55 north of Hammond. I spend more time "airborne" than I do with my feet on the ground.

Just a word of warning to any of you that don't travel that stretch regularly. If you have to come this way, try to find another route. It's awful.

I'm thankful for every trip I make without a destroyed tire and/or wheel.
