What is a Double Dip? Trying to catch up on all the sailing lingo.

Also loved the video of Donald, thanks for sharing tha with us.

Question, are the characters always out, or do they only come out for special things like the parties and different stuff like that.

What is a Double Dip? Trying to catch up on all the sailing lingo..

A "special" cruise DCL does from time to time with 2 stops at Castaway Cay - one at the beginning and one at the end of the cruise.

There are scheduled "meet & greet" times in the Navigator and on the electronic boards in the main lobby. There are also unexpected sightings from time to time.

Thanks for the info, more questions have arose now, Do you just look at the cruise page, to see when that special cruise is offered, or do you have to be in the know somehow, Does it mean that it will be longer than a 3 or possibly a 4 day cruise?

Thanks for the info on the characters.

Yes - check the Special Cruises list - but no, it doesn't necessarily mean longer than 4 days. For instance, right now there are a number of 4-night; double-dip cruises listed for May through August 2008; as well as the 7-night Costa Maya cruise (Sept through Dec) . They're also showing a 5-night double dip for 9/1/2008.

Lots of choices to have fun - twice!!

I love that video of donald too!!!!!!!!!! How cute is he out there waving his heart out.

Thanks for answering all those questions for Dan. Our internet was acting up & I couldn't even get on last night......hence I have been missing in action & did not get my post up.

What a cool video!

That would be so neat to see the two Disney Ships right next to eachother!

How fun! :yay:
It was really cool having both ships side by side. Lots of people got really awesome pictures of it!!!!!!!

I am uploading one last video & will have the next post up.....the last night :sad2:

We headed back to the room & before we knew it, it was time to get ready for our last show. We changed clothes & then headed to the show. We ran into Dopey on the way.
100_1024.jpg

Remember the Magic is a variety type show with special scenes from the WD theater players & another performance from Freddy Fusion & Randy Cabral.
This is Freddy Fusion......he ended up with his whole body inside this balloon.
100_1033.jpg

I got very teary eyed in the scene with the couple who was reflecting over their cruise & then the princes & princesses came out & “So This Is Love” was playing. I am a big softy & this really got me…besides I walked down the aisle to “So This Is Love.”
100_1031.jpg

At one point, some of the characters came out in the audience….Goofy was right there for us.
100_1039.jpg

I continued to be all misty & had quite a few tears streaming down my face by the end of the show.
When Tinker Bell pixiedusts the ship……..oh good grief. :sad2: My DH was elbowing me & telling me to dry it up.

At the end there were all the characters & more fireworks. What a great show to end the cruise.

100_1044.jpg

After the show, we went back to the room to get packed so we could set our bags out & enjoy the rest of the night. I made sure several times that we had out clothes to wear the next day as I didn’t want to be the people that Brent talks about going off the ship in our pjs.
100_1048-1.jpg

Dinner tonight was back in Lumiere’s. Tonight’s menu was Til We Meet Again.
100_1051.jpg

I had the crawfish & lobster bisque.
100_1053.jpg

Then the florida citus & spinach salad followed by the Grilled Beef Tenderloin.
100_1056.jpg

For dessert I had the deep dish apple cranberry pie-yummo.

Our mystery couple was missing again---good grief. :rolleyes1 Dinner was good. Brian was sick this night so we were just 5 this night. We enjoyed our dinner & exchanged email information. I wanted to make sure we were finished in time to be in the lobby for Til We Meet Again & our server team did a good job of making sure we did. We gave them their envelopes this night & a box of Merci chocolates to thank them for a job well done.

We went up to Deck 4 & stood to the side so we could watch the characters come out for their final farewell.
100_1062.jpg

There were tons of characters & it was nice to have a final goodbye.
100_1088.jpg

The characters spread out all over the lobby & it gave kids & adults a final opportunity for pictures & autographs. We just stayed put & watched all the fun. At the end, they sang “M-I-C K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E” & waved goodbye. Sad but a sweet way to end.
100_1084.jpg

Video of the final goodbye......sniff sniff

Ray the asst cruise director & the Wonderful cruise staff.
100_1094.jpg

After Til We Meet Again, we headed to Diversions for Pub Night. Paula, Kim, Chris & Hazel had a primo table up front & they waved us over. They were leaving soon, but wanted us to have their table. We had a drink & watched the cruise staff do their very funny skit called “If I were not upon the sea…..” HILARIOUS.
100_1106.jpg

After that, we decided to head on to bed for the night. Our final night had come to an end…..our final towel creation awaited us.
100_1108.jpg

The seas were really rocky & we were a bit frightened several times before we fell asleep. Eric even said "In case we die, I love you". But we made it safely back to Port Canaveral.

Next up.........Before we say goodbye........details, details, details.

So sad that the cruise is pretty much over. :sad1: You and DH look like you had such a wonderful time.

I think that is so romantic that you walked down the aisle to "So This Is Love"

Oh, so sad that it's almost over. I also cried at the "Remember the Magic" show. It's just the end of something so wonderful....

oh no!! Over so soon!! Love the pics!

Hi Vanessa! It's Tammie from the 12/10/05 Eastern! I just started reading your TR today after I saw your post about the new Eastern itinerary - funny how small the DIS world is! :goodvibes

Oh great it is almost over, stretch it out, we want more.

Thanks for the pictures of the farewell from teh characters, very nice video also.

I want a donald in the ship clothes....he looks very cute.

I can't believe it's almost over either. It has been a great way to relive the trip for me & I am happy that so many people have enjoyed reading it.

Leesa we did have the BEST time. "So this is love" is one of my favorite Disney love songs & it just fit us so well. That is what I had inscribed in my DH wedding band too!!!

Oh, so sad that it's almost over. I also cried at the "Remember the Magic" show. It's just the end of something so wonderful....
I didn't almost cry.......I did the real thing. :sad2: I am such a sap, but I knew then it was almost over.

I am sure you can find a Donald in his sailor outfit WHEN YOU cruise Dan!!!!!

A details post coming up when I get my pictures uploaded & then goodbye to the Disney Magic :sad2:......but I will also post some of our Disney Christmas decorations since I have been asked to...........so a few more updates to go.

So one of the many reasons I love Disney is their attention to detail. This is true at the parks & they have carried that over to the cruise line of course. Everywhere you look there are special Disney touches that make you smile & realize how hard they work at making sure everything is special & just right.
Case in point.......great artwork is scattered all over the ship.
In one of the stairways I found tis great picture of my hero Walt Disney.
100_0545.jpg

These 2 great prints are on deck 5 & sooooo cute!!!!!!!!!!!
100_0591.jpg

100_0592.jpg

More cool & unique Disney art in the stairway.
100_0595.jpg

In Treasure Ketch....a very sparkly Mickey.
100_0627.jpg

An upclose view of another Disney ship.......
100_0690.jpg

You gotta love the "spice islands"
100_0692.jpg

More art in the stairways........see what you miss if you don't walk up & down the steps.
100_1001.jpg

But even the elevator has a Disney touch
100_0602.jpg

More details show up in a light fixture in Lumiere's...see the fallen rose petals?
100_0734-1.jpg

I found Nemo in the carpet
100_0739.jpg

The beautiful doors of Mickey's Mates which you would never see unless they are closed.
100_1000.jpg

Even around the basketball court...hidden Mickeys.
100_0990.jpg

And lastly on the ship itself......
Disney characters hidden on the bow.
100_0730.jpg

Disney just does everything well & looking for the details is part of the fun for me!!!!!!!!!! Look up, down & all around & you will discover all the beauty & detail of the Disney Difference.

So after our very rocky night we awoke & we were home back in Port Canaveral. We had the latest breakfast seating in Lumiere's. We got ready & headed up there for a final farewell to our servers & tablemates. I ordered only fruit & a muffin. Our servers were a bit frazzled so everyone else had their breakfast & there I sat waiting for a pitiful muffin which they finally realized & brought me one. Our mystery couple made their final appearance....:confused3. Oh well!!!!!!!!!! We said our goodbyes & headed on off the ship knowing that we had another cruise booked, just not exactly sure of the date we would be back BUT WE WOULD BE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
100_1117.jpg

We got our bags easily in the terminal & headed out to find the Delta counter so we could check in at the curb for our flight & get rid of our luggage. This was a great perk. We got our boarding passes & everything so when we got to the airport all we had to do was go through security & to the gate. Not bad. :thumbsup2
We got on the DCL bus & soon we were back to MCO. We had a 12:40 flight so we didn't have a long wait. We headed through security & saw a couple of our Dis friends heading off on their journey home as well....it was nice to see familiar faces at the airport....we said goodbye to Sean & Christine & headed off to our gate. The flight to Nashville was uneventful & we landed safely...gathered our luggage & went to find our jeep in the same spot we had left it over a week ago.
We had a 3 hour drive back home but it went by fast & we did stop & eat at Cracker Barrell which was really good after all the fancy food we had eaten all week.
We got home around 6pm & were greeted by Bella who was very happy to see us.
We were home & tired but so happy after such a great trip.

I can't wait to go back on our next cruise...........

Coming up.........favorite things & a sum up of the journey followed by Christmas at our House

Sounds like a great time!
