Puerto Rico

I'd like to know too. We are booked for this trip next Nov.
I know Disney went to this port before so hopefully someone has some info. :goodvibes

We are booked for next Nov as well ! Can't wait until there is more info

Yeah, saw that they went there a couple of years ago, was hoping they'd have some excursion ideas up. Oh well, just excited that we'll finally be going there (and not St. Martin again ;))

:rotfl: That's so funny! DH and I had the opposite reaction! We went to PR two years ago and are going again this July but on our cruise next June, we're still going to St. Martin. We were happy to have missed that change, b/c as much as we like PR, we haven't yet been to St. Martin and would be sad to not get in a new destination.

:)

I am going in December and I wish I know what they are offering to.

Since Platinum Castaway Cay members can start booking shore excursions 4 mos before a cruise, DCL will have to list the excursions before then. Right now they're probably still making arrangements with the different vendors. I wouldn't count on DCL listing them more than 5 mos ahead of time.

When we were in Puerto Rico a few years ago we explored the fort on our own, then hired a taxi/van driver who took us on our own tour of the island.

If DCL offers it, tour El Morro (not sure about the spelling). It is a huge fort built by the Spanish. We saw it on a tour years ago. Children fly kites on the sloping hills outside the fort.

Back in 2001 and 2002 we were lucky enough to be on a DCL cruise that was diverted to San Juan because of storms. We truly enjoyed our visit to El Morro which is in walking distance from the cruise terminal. We toured El Morro and Old San Juan in 2001 and in 2002 went to the rainforest which was also a wonderful trip.

I was reading through the posts before posting what was answered by the above DiSer. DCL has made unexpected stops to Puerto Rico because they needed to change course. They have never been included as part of an actual itinerary. I use to live in PR and have been to San Juan too many times to count. I am almost certain that the excursions will include "El Morro" which is a castle that was built by the Spaniards, "Fort San Cristobal" which is next to el Morro, you have the San Juan Museum of Art, Paseo la Princesa, which sells local goodies and souvenirs, they might have an excursion to the Rum Distillery of Bacardi which is the largest distillery in the world. The distillery is in Cataño which is another city, but you take a short ferry ride across the bay. A friend of mine is hoping that they have an excursion to "El Yunque" which is the Caribbean's national rain forest, but it is about an hour and half away and up in the mountains, i would be very surprised if they offered it. I can't wait, I will be going on this cruise too! :rotfl: See you folks on board. :thumbsup2

Going on the Fantasy on Jan 12th 2013 so passing by Puerto Rico and I will be very interested in the Port Adventures available for this "new" destination.

El Yunque was the rainforest we visited with a DCL excursion in 2002. We loved our visit and would certainly go back!

Forgot to mention that in 2004 DCL did indeed include San Juan (Antiqua was the other port) as part of a few special eastern Caribbean itineraries. Maybe someone on those cruises could remember some of the shore excursions as we chose the Antiqua route that year.
