Hello fellow DISsers !!

I have sadly injured my ankle pretty badly and have been laid up for three weeks already. And since it doesn’t seem to want to heal quickly and there isn’t a whole lot for me to do when I can’t walk very well, I thought I would amuse myself (and hopefully some other people) by doing a dining review of our April trip. Also, I hope that it might be useful to some people planning a trip.

When: April 6 - April 15, 2012

Where we stayed: Animal Kingdom Lodge 4/6- 4/10

and Disney Dream 4/10-4/15

Me (Susan) - 44 yr old Irrigation Designer for a Landscape Architect

(This is me hiding behind the kids. I am the most unphotogenic person alive)

DH - My wonderful husband that puts up with my Disney obsession. Works in upper management for a chemical company.

DS - 12 year old thrill seeker, but still a sweet boy (so far)

I hope those of you that choose to read along will stop by and say hello.

Hello! :wave2:

I am sorry to hear you are laid up, but selfishly happy that we get a dining report out of it! Seriously, I hope you heal soon!

We left super early the morning our trip started. We made good time and checked in a Animal Kingdom Lodge - Kidani. We got all of our things unpacked and headed over the The Mara at Jambo House for lunch.

DH and I are big on splitting meals. I feel like you can get ONE more day out of your dining plan if you split meals. They give you way too much food anyway and the kids can never eat all of their food, so we all have plenty to eat.

DH and I shared the chicken pita

We really liked this. The chicken had a really good flavor and the pita and veggies were fresh. It was something different from the usual burger. And the fries were good. I never complain much about Disney fries.

For dessert we had zebra domes

I had heard great things about these. People say they are heavenly. I have been wanting to try them to see if they were as good as everyone says they are. I wanted so badly for them to WOW me. And I just have to say that they just weren’t that great. I was kinda sad about it, but they just weren’t my thing. I just can't explain what it was, but I had one, DH had the rest.

The kids had chicken nuggets and french fries.

The usual chicken and french fries. Nothing much to say about it. but the kids always enjoy them and eat well when we order them.

And a Mickey bar for dessert

Both of these were good and the kids enjoyed them.

I am going to give this restaurant an Edna rating:

It was good but nothing spectacular.

Glad to hear good things about The Mara - I had a very good chicken flatbread there once, and I'm looking forward to trying more food there during my upcoming trip. :)

We had a fabulous lunch at Mara in 2010! Except for Zebra Domes...we are not fans either. We really don't get the big fuss?

Glad you are sharing your reviews. I'll be here all along!

I tried to step out of the "burger and fries" box this trip. We are going to Disney again in 26 more days and I am coming to the slow realization that I may have to rent a scooter. But, it is better that staying home. We are traveling Sept 7-14. Staying at WLV.

:welcome: I wanted to love them. I really did. I mean they have all of the things that I love. Chocolate, booze .... what's not to like ?? But alas, I just wasn't that into them. Maybe they would have been better with a cup of coffee. And they definitely needed more chocolate.

Thanks for stopping by !!!

I just love Animal Kingdom and its theming. Just the coolest little touches everywhere. After riding Dinosaur we trekked back over to Asia and along the way, we saw this sign.

Lovely Beer. Hahahaha. :rotfl::rotfl2:

So we had one.

And it was lovely.

I am going to give this a Mrs. Incredible rating:

Because it was cold and refreshing and the sign was funny.

:welcome: Thanks !! It really is getting me down, so I figured doing a Dining Review would cheer me up and it has already !!

The Dream was everything I dreamed it would be and more. Simply spectacular. We loved everything about it !!

I'm looking forward to more! We stayed at Kidani last May and loved it. It just seems so laid back and out of the way.
