I usually head toward I-4 from Epcot to avoid most of the traffic around the Outlet Mall.
Head of the main gate at SSR. Turn left (Disney Vacation Club way) towards OKW. Turn left at the light on Bonnet Creek Parkway. Turn Right on Buena Vista Drive (like you are going to DHS), then turn right again on Backstage Lane ( just opposite of entrance to Bonnet Creek resort). Turn right again towards I-4 (you have to make a circle to get on Epcot Center Drive). Follow directions to the airport (don't go I-4) (this is 536). Go straight until you get to International Drive (North, not South). You cannot turn right at this light - you would turn into a Hess Gas Station. Take International Drive about two miles until you get to Vineland Ave - turn left at the light. Publix is on the right. If you keep going on Vineland, the Premier Outlet Mall will be on the left.
Is that the one where you turn left at Crossroads and drive for a bit, then it is on the right? I used to go there; do you know the address? I agree, that would be a lot less hassle than getting to Publix. Thanks

I really think that the Winn Dixie is too far to walk. Some people, I know, have walked to the Goodings store at Crossroads, but it is really overpriced. To me, it would also be too far to walk. Have you thought about ordering your groceries online? It's so convenient and so nice to have them there at the resort when you arrive. I use gardengrocer.com, but many here also use wegoshop.com

You won't want to walk. But even if you could, it will probably not be open. You just need to check their website to make sure. That W-D is #2215. So you should be able to put that into the Contact Us information. From SSR it is about three miles.

I don't think Publix will be open on Christmas Day. Publix is where I do most of my grocery shopping at home (not in FL, however) and they are typically completely closed on a few holidays including Christmas Day. You can check with the store closest to SSR to be sure, but I'd be surprised to find them open on Dec. 25th. You might be better off scheduling a grocery delivery with someone like Garden Grocer for the following morning (assuming they don't deliver on Christmas). The groceries will cost you more, but it will be much easier that way if you do not have a car. You can also buy things like bread and milk at the DVC resorts; overpriced, of course, but again worth the extra cost in my opinion if you don't have a car.
