That Publix is an excellet grocery store; however, if you have a Target Red Card, your best option is the Super Target, directly across the highway. That Publix is actually only about 2/3 mile from AKL as the crow flies but you would need to walk through woods and swamps to get to it. The driving distance via Sherboth Rd to the Publix or Target is about 2 miles.
In getting to the store via the Sherboth Rd route, you have two options. Take Sherboth all the way to the Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway (192) and turn right and go through numerous lights to shortly before 429 (Target is across the street on the right), or you can take a right off Sherbert about 60 yards before it gets to 192 on a street named Black Lake Rd. That has no stop lights along the way and you take it all the way to its end where it joins 192 and turn right and then it is just a short distance to Publix (or Target).
Definitely heed the advice above about making sure you check landmarks for the roads because you can easily miss your turn off of 192 coming back; that is particularly true at night because as we discovered there is no lighting beaming on the road name signs and you can barely see the road names as you drive back.[/QUOTE
I will be sure to watch those landmarks! Appreciate that warning from everyone. And I think I'll go ahead and drive the 2-3 miles vs. the .66 mile hike through woods and swamps (although it could lead to some good adventures and stories!)
