Public free dining thread: What did you get, how long did you hold..etc

Mine does not either...but the email I received from Disney Destinations gave me a link to my reservation details and it IS on there...they said it could take up to 24 hours to receive it, but I had it before I hung up the phone.

Interesting. I made 2 reservations on the phone this morning. I've received email for one of the reservations (not free dining), but not the other one. Do you think the other one may still come?

Yeah...I would give it the full 24 hours then call them back...as long as you have your reservation # that is...or you could just call and confirm to set your mind at ease....ohhh, check your spam filter also...mine went there.

We booked the bounceback last Sept for free dining at Pop, but we've really been wanting to try one of the All Stars. So I called a bit ago and they converted my reservations. We got AS Movies, preferred, 9 nights, 8 day park hoppers w/ waterparks and more for $2200. This is for 2 adults, 1 junior, 1 child.:thumbsup2

Disneyfantotheend and jjnv:

Thanks so much for your words of encouragement. First, I'll start with the good news -- I GOT FREE DINING.

The saga goes (briefly) as follows: AAA TA finally calls at 1:15 today and quotes me a price that is only $281 cheaper than original reservation. I was NOT happy. How can that be for 3 adults on free dining (which we were paying for previously) for 8 days? I go through everything with him again.

He calls Disney again. Calls me back and says, oh, they charged you twice for insurance. I tell him it's still not low enough. I ask him to conference me in, he says he can't because he doesn't have that capability. I tell him I do, so give me the number. Says he can't because it's a TA only number. I ask him to call again and get a breakdown, which he says they won't provide. I tell him to call anyway.

He calls back and apparently, since I had to split my original ressie into two different ones, they were charging me for dining for the one not-free day, plus $370 for 3 adult 1 day park hopper tickets! He said they couldn't/wouldn't give me a 9 day park hopper on the 2nd ressie because that ressie was only for 8 days, so they needed to book that 1 day separate! What a load of crappola! I told him to cancel the 1 day park hopper tickets and the 1 day dining.

Now it's more to where it should be (I think), because he hasn't received a total yet from Disney (last time we spoke). What complicated matters more was that we also had our airfare through Disney, but we got to keep our ASMo, preferred location, for the dates I wanted and FREE DINING for 8 of the 9 days.

Saga began at 9:15 this morning and ended, for today, at 4:30! What an exhausting day. I teased my AAA TA that I would be a Disney expert TA of him yet! BTW, when I booked in Feb. I continually asked about free dining, IF it was made available, and neither he nor Disney would really discuss it with me then because there was no guarantee it would be offered this year. I tried, I really, really tried to avoid all this! :rotfl:

I was to book online before 6:30 am (confirmation email came at 6:26 am)
POFQ
8/24 to 9/1
2 Adults, 2 Kids

Finished up my dining ressies too at 7am - was able to get Le Cellier finally - albeit at 8:50 pm but it's a Friday night!

I posted earlier that me and DH got FD for POR.. but I decided to surprise DD10 and take her with us.. I went online and booked FD for Allstar Sports preferred room for the 3 of us..

I was able to get all 3 of us in a preferred room with Waterpark options on our ticket and FD all for $1212.62.. We are saving $480 from staying here instead of POR and this is with adding 1 more person

she will be thrilled since we didnt get to stay at AllStar Sports earlier this year because it was totally booked and she wanted to stay there so bad..

Would someone be kind enough to help me with my math? I'm trying to figure out how much we're paying per day. This is what I got:

7 nights, 6 days at POP standard room
6 day passes (no hopper, no water, did not choose no exp option, just plain base tickets)
2 adults
1 child
free dining
insurance: $133.90
total cost: $1440.96

Thank you! By the way I made my reservation on the phone yesterday morning as part of the Disney Visa special but I did not get my confirmation email yet. I did log on to disney and I can see my reservation.

I think it's incredible that it might actually cost us more to fly to Orlando than it will cost us to be there!

I went online this afternoon and booked FD at POFQ for 8/25-8/30. It was very easy and I received confirmation email immediately. We got 5 night hotel and 5 day park hoppers for myself, DH and DS13 for $1672. Tommorrow I'll work on our ADRs.

Finally got totals for my package:

3 adults (me, my mom and DD12)
8 nights, 9 days ASMovies, preferred location
Roundtrip airfare (Newark, NJ to Orlando)
8 days' park hopper tickets (no water park option)
travel insurance
8 days of FREE dining

$2608 total

It's $240 per day - I used 6 days instead of your 7 nights to do that. Per person, it's $80 per day.

ASMusic - Sept. 19 - 28 (9 nights) 10 day tickets (we don't do hoppers on long trips) w/ free dining for $1780 for 3 adults (dd is 11) and 1 child.

I'm very excited!!

Thank you! I'm obviously not good at math! I was trying to figure out why it didn't end up as $57 per person per day like the original email said. I didn't change anything (value, standard room, base ticket, dining) and just added insurance. Does Disney calculate it by night or by day?
