I can't tell you how excited I am that this trip is finally booked and paid for!!
I spent months, days, & bunches of hours crunching numbers and time-frames to make this vacation a reality. Now, it's really going to happen!
First, it's just me and my son traveling. This should be interesting, as he has autism and it will be the first time he will be traveling without his dad and brother. We will be flying, then I'm renting a car (BOOO...no Magical Express!) to drive to the resort. We've had mostly good experiences on Disney buses, but the last few times, DS really got spooked by some of the bus rides (not sure if it was how long the wait was, the ride, or the crowds), so the extra cost of renting a car was necessary.
DH and I always joke that we are not outdoorsy people. We don't like to camp and our idea of fun outdoors is to take a dip in our pool. So, when we visited the Wilderness Lodge for the first time, we both said that WL was our ideal camping location. It has the feel of all the outdoor rustic loveliness, and best of all, it is close to my favorite place on Earth.
DS has been obsessed with Harry Potter since he watched the first movie with me years ago. When he learned of Universal's Harry Potter themed section, he was so excited. Disappointed that during our last visit to the World ('09), the Potter section at U wasn't open yet, I promised I'd take him the next time we were in Orlando.
So, this is it. Wilderness Lodge for 6 days, 5 nights. Park Hoppers, of course! Quick Service Dining plan (I'd have gone with the regular dining plan, but I didn't want to be tied down to reservations everywhere, particularly since DS is a very picky eater) and 2 day/2 park passes to Universal. DS has already told me he is bringing his netbook, so I'll be able to update you on our stay. I have my iPhone, as well. And will be have twitter updates, as well.
