PTN Dining Package?

It looks like the consensus is this is not necessary. Would that change depending on crowds in summer? I snagged the last hotel room in the block set aside for my husband’s conference and have had no luck finding a reasonable hotel rate anywhere else to add on another night. This has me worried that crowds are going to be awful. Is that to be expected in summer? This is the first week of August.

Now I'm curious to know as well...what are your exact dates & what conference is this? We will be at PPH August 2nd-4th!

We are going 7/30-8/3 for his Conference. He said it should be about 200 people so I wouldn’t think it would be the reason for all the filled hotels. He thinks it’s just summer time but we’ve never gone in summer so I’m not sure what’s normal.

I’ve been on a few high-crowd days, and the parade route is long enough to handle crowds.

I would not bother with a dining package.

My birthday is the first week of August, so I go a lot... it is usually a pretty crowded time, but not “Christmas to New Year” crowds or anything.

we have never been in the summer ever either & now your comment is making me nervous! Hopefully with 3 days & using EMH for all 3 says since we are staying on-site PLUS using max Pass hopefully we will be good.:)

I just did the PtN package on Thursday, and it wasn't TOTALLY necessary, but it did afford me about 10-20 min extra of wandering around time before I had to go get a seat, I was by myself, so for a larger group, it might be a little more handy?.....so I would say 25% for, 75% against for a solo person.....though my WCT dinner was DELICIOUS

I have never been to CC and so I shelled out the crazy amount for the dining package for July 21, a Sat., for my son and I. I like the idea of a director's chair at the curb with no obstruction to view. Does anyone know if the seating is just one row, or is there a chance we'll be behind another row of seats?

From pics I’ve seen it’s two rows but the back row is in higher chairs if that makes sense.

If you'd do the meal anyway, I think it's a good choice. If you wouldn't normally eat at one of the places, you can probably find seating if you don't mind sitting early. We did the Wine Country lunch and it was the best meal of our week plus we got the reserved seating. It was a good deal for us, but we're 2 adults and our 18 year old daughter. Not sure what I would think if I was doing it with younger kids.

Does Wine Country not do dinner anymore? CC is something we’ve done twice now and it’s fun but way too expensive with my kids. The menu looks great at Wine Country (pricey for kids but food they’d like) but it’s only going to 4:30. If my husband is going to meet up with us I need it later.

In the pictures, I have seen higher back row chairs at the Sonoma Terrace Reception, but the photos of the CC curb directors chairs look like they are the same height. Has anyone sat in the second row and can comment on the view at CC curbside?

This is what it looked like awhile back, so unless they changed it, this is what you get.

I did dinner, I think it actually runs continuously, but I think I saw somewhere that the dinner menu started at 4:30 or 4:40pm (my res was at 4:40pm).....I had the dinner menu, and the ribeye was delicious!

We're going with young kids in September and feel like this will be a better option than just finding and saving a spot. Still trying to figure out which option we want to do.

As others have said, WCT is open continuously from about 11:00 am (probably depends on the day) and switches over from the lunch menu to the dinner menu in late afternoon. I put in a couple of different dates on the WCT's webpage and it looks like lunch runs through 3:55 pm and dinner starts at 4:00 pm. So, with a 4:30 pm reservation, you should get the dinner menu (but that also means the dinner pricing for the PTN package). It does look like they're only taking reservations through 4:30 pm or 5:00 pm (depending on the day) for the PTN dining package, which is kind of odd (giving that the restaurant is taking regular reservations through about 9:00 pm). I don't know why, but that does seem to be the case (even through PtN is closer to 8:50 pm, so it can't be that they're worried about guests not finishing in time - maybe it has to do with capacity or a limit on the number of packages available per day and they think they'll sell them all by then).

I have this booked for our upcoming trip in a few weeks. I'm debating whether to keep it or not. I love the idea of having the reserved chairs for the parade. But I hate the price! Anyone done it recently? Did you think it was worth it?

How far in advance do you have to get there to get the front row? There will be 3 of us if that matters.

ohhh hoping you get some answers. I have it booked in July and want to know as well. I love Paint the Night and am looking forward to the chairs. We have never eaten at Carthay Circle and it is pretty expensive. I have also been having trouble finding a menu to look at!
