My mom really wants to eat here when we go... but my dad is very picky, and I am worried that the wait staff will try to pressure him into eating things he does not like (ie.. greens). If they do, it will really be a downer, as he will NOT eat things he doesn't like. Or will they let him substitute, or leave out, things he doesn't like? we will be on the dining plan. Will this place ruin our evening, or will the servers back off if he shows resistance? Thanks for any info!!

I have never had a problem at the pt cafe... even though teh point of the restaurant is to be like your family and they may be difficult, they will bring you what you ask for.... they may make a joke about it depending on the waiter but they are really just trying to be funny...i always ask for special things, such as i order the fried chicken and always ask for legs and its never a problem...plus, if you get something like the roast (which is the best thing on the menu) it doesn't come w/ a side... i wouldn't think this would make your father mad, unless he has problems taking a joke but they will not bring you something you dont' want

I've eaten in there twice, once as a kid and once as an adult. My parents would never go back after our first trip for the exact reason you mention. My mother felt ill that day and so couldn't eat the food she ordered. When they came to clear the plates they told her she had to eat it or wouldn't be allowed to watch TV. They left her plate infront of her and cleared all the others. My mother was very embarressed and felt so ill she ended up walking out of the restuarant and waiting for us outside.
The second trip I went on though I had very little interaction off the CM's and so didn't get any sort of conversation at all. May as well have been in a normal restuarant so have not been back since. I left most of my meal as Im fussy when it comes to accompliments. I ate the chicken but none of the veg or the potatos and the CM didn't even seem to notice. Not sure if this is the new policy or what but I didn't see the point in it myself.

it's hit or miss with the interaction - if you get a good server (like auntie claire) it can be fun (and most servers can "pick up" on the impression if someone doesn't like the teasing and leave them alone) - you can always make mention at the check in desk that you would like to request a "low key" server - last october we went and i was very sick, with fever, nausea - sat at the table, server could see i wasn't having any of it - she left me alone - yes, you can "customize" your meal, leaving out anything you don't want (like certain veggies) - again, a good server won't harass you!!
