PSA: River Country did NOT close because of brain-eating amoeba or Florida law

Wow. I went to River Country in the 70s, and Blizzard Beach around 2001. I honestly had NO IDEA that River Country stayed open until 2001. I would have bet it closed in about 1993 if I were playing a Disney World trivia game.

I agree! Good thing this never came up in Disney trivia for me either. I was there in 1989 and thought that was one of the final years it was open. Had no idea it lasted another decade or so!
It was cool for the time though!!!

I always believed that it was attendance too. I think that it suffered from Horizons syndrome which was supposedly closed due to a sinkhole. Right. :badpc:

River Country (and Horizons) could have been upgraded but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be. We had a blast at River Country.

What was Horizons?

Wikipedia is not a valid source. Anybody can edit a Wikipedia page to say whatever they want.

Same with bloggers and one persons article on yesterland.

However, the Wiki does have vetting rules as to sources, style and content. Anyone cannot edit a page and write whatever they want. It they could you'd see all sorts of trash talk etc. Try it.

Depends entirely on the article, but I just went to a wiki page, clicked edit, and could change anything and everything, without even logging in. That's actually the entire basis that wiki was founded on. From that very page: "Wikipedia can be edited, used, and redistributed—by anyone."

Yes you can. Go back in a bit and see if what you wrote is still there and available for anyone to see. Why aren't there any pure trash rants, and anything goes articles flooded all over wiki? Articles are screened by administrators to make sure they meet acceptable standards and guidelines. I've had to rewrite articles I've done in order to conform. None the less, I find Wiki to be more reliable than private blogging sites.
