We placed our order last week and DH is looking forward to it arriving next weekend:goodvibes Ours was ordered from Amazon so we hope it turns up problem free.:thumbsup2

Parents were going to buy one for all of us but I am not that fussed.. :)

Just as well as I am probably not going to get one till Christmas.. :lmao:

im afraid ds will have to cope with the PS2 for now ;)

Same with DH! However he does seem surprising unbothered now that DS has started opening the disk tray and leaning on it. Ummmmmmmmmmmm ;)

When the PS2 came out, there was a deal where you could hand in your old PS1 and get a reduced (or free, can't remember) upgrade to PS2. Anyone know of any similar offer??

I've pre-ordered one from Amazon for DH. Hopefully it should arrive next weekend in nice time for him returning from his business trip on the Monday:yay:

DBF wants one soooo much, he will just have to make do with his PS2 for the time being though

I'm wanting one but I'll cope with just my PS2 for now. Oh and my PSP. And the X-box 360 Claire's gonna get me for my birthday. And my laptop. Oh and my game boy.

LOL DH would love one - at the moment i dont think he can decide between the PS3 and the Wii!!

The Wii is great fun and it does get you moving about too I thought DBIL was going to have a coronary last week when he came around and had a few goes at boxing:lmao::lmao: :lmao: The baseball is fab too as long as you keep out of the "danger zone" LOL!!
DH is more interested in the PS3 for it's DVD player at the moment than the games but he has ordered a couple of games too can't remember the titles at the moment.I'm sure DH and DS will get plenty of game play out of it :goodvibes

I thought about it but I hardly use my ps2 anymore so it would be a waste at this time. Plus I saw a few of the games I like need an HD tv to play (according to the cases I was was looking at in Virgin the other day) so that rules that out.

DH says some shops are doing a trade-in deal but you have to ask about it:thumbsup2 HD-tv prices are coming down a bit in price now and so much slimmer than the old type. The Gadget Show on channel 5 did a few reviews a couple of weeks ago:thumbsup2 One of the games on order for DH and DS is Resistance Fall of Man and a film on blueray dvd Casino Royal (sp?);)

I wont be buying one until :
a) They come down dramaticaly in price
and
b) Mod chips come out for them.

Some of the PS2 games are very compatible with the new machine DH found a couple of web pages listing which ones will work so we may not have to buy too many new games for DS:love:

Its interesting that you seem to be commenting on this as a good thing.....

Most industry pundits have pounced on the "some" aspect of the UK PS3's backwards compatability, given that the US and JAP machines had backwards compatability in hardware (so all of the games worked), whereas in typical rip off britain style, we get cut down hardware where they stripped out the PS2 bits from it and run the compatability in emulation (hence now only "some"). To add to that, we are paying 68% more for the priviledge compared to the Japanese.

I have to say though, I saw a PS3 running in a store and it looked damned impressive.

Interesting that the sales seem to be extremely poor though....I understand Ebuyer had 300 set aside for guaranteed pre-orders, and as of a week ago, they only actualy had 5 pre-orders taken.

DH's arrived about 10 minutes ago. I'm sure he will be delighted me it when he gets home on Monday.

I was reading today that blu ray has something in built in it which checks to see if the machine has been compromised than reinstalls it to what it should be.

Personally I think Sony have got the launch right, they have managed to allow people to go into a store and actually buy it from day one. This is an extremely refreshing change.:) I was involved in the preordering scandal from Play for XBox 360s last year (preordered in May), didn't manage to get them on release but on 14th December, which saved my sons' Christmas presents. It was a worrying time and a lot of people were disappointed and annoyed. Sony have managed to deliver, those that want to buy can but face publicity saying that it is flop because it hasn't sold out on day one, no win situation for them.

The other problem with the Sony is the expensive of it for a lot of people though I think it is good value for what you get. I personally have not bought one because we moved over to the Microsoft camp and have done for a few years now. Though I must admit I was tempted by the Bluray drive for dvds, however, I think it best to hang back till it becomes clear which format is going to 'win' - doesn't stop me wanting it but then I am a gadget freak.

We didnt order one. My dh is hooked on his 360. It looks good though.

DS is waiting until the price goes down
never worried about the price when I was buying ,
