I've been to Disney in October/November/and December, but never September! Do you prefer going in September, if so what do you like or dislike about it? If you don't like September what month do you prefer to travel in and why? Thank you!

It's hot and sticky. At least typically it is. It is a slower time of year crowd wise, which is a big plus for me. You can still do the Halloween party in September too. I have taken several September trips and they were all good.

Prefer May for warm weather, not too humid, moderate crowds & flower and garden festival and being just after the winter months - so it feels like a nice reward for surviving the harsh winter !

DH and I go at the beginning of September. We have for like the last five or six years now. We discovered the crowd levels seem better ( to us anyway) , maybe because of school opening then :confused3 ? The weather is still pretty hot , but , that is what I expect of Florida. We definitely prefer September to any other time of the year. You avoid all of the Christmas , Easter , Halloween crowds, and that works for us. pixiedust:

September is our favorite month because it has our two favorite elements for a great WDW vacation - heat and very low crowds. January come in second because of the low crowds, but it can be cold. I'll take heat over cold any day.

Agreed, while I haven't been able to go in September for many years, I found it the best time of the year for crowd levels. It's after the kids have all gone back to school, but early enough that fall breaks haven't started, and people aren't generally pulling their kids out because school has just started. It is very hot though. But worth it.

We love September. It's hot and humid--be prepared. We make some lunch ADRs to get into the air conditioning, and I take it into account for trip planning. We always go to our room mid-day for a nap and maybe a swim. The plus side is that at least in the past, the lines have been pretty short. If they have free dining, the restaurants will be full--but it seems like they usually are anyway.

The main tips about September weather are:
1. Let yourself sweat. Just give up on being embarrassed about it, because it's just plain hot.
2. Ignore any rain. Just pretend it's not there (no need for an umbrella and a poncho will just steam you. It's hot--you're not going to get hypothermia, only wet.

Eta: On our first trip, I rigged up misters to hats for my son and me. They were ridiculous and we just got wet. We lived in Arizona once, and had misters on our patio. Totally cooled it down, but Arizona is a dry heat. Misters are a waste of time in Florida. We looked like crazy wet eccentrics until we ditched the hats. :)

We love going in September. Lowest crowds of the year. As previous posters say; it can be hot and humid, similar to August. The Halloween party is another plus, not too crowded when they are held on a weekday evening.
The only thing to be aware of is MK closing early on the Friday and Saturday the week after Labor Day due to the Night of Joy concerts.

We love September for the lower crowds! It is still melt-your-face-off hot a lot of days and rains for a period almost daily but we're happy to push through both of these for the lower crowds. Trying the 2nd week of September this year and will see what the crowd levels are like. The parks are open fewer hours which might come in to play for some people if they really enjoy late nights in the parks. These are often not offered in September. Also, MK has more 'off' nights for Wishes (W) and the Main Street Electrical Parade (MSEP) as Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is offered so if you like to go to W and/or MSEP it might take a little more planning.

We always go in September! While it is HOT, the lower crowds are sooo worth it to us. We do rope drop to lunch and back at night We always schedule a sit down early dinner for the rain that usually hits every day around 5:00. We usually go early September so we don't always get to do MNSSHP but we have always had a blast!

We have always gone the week of Labor Day. Yes, it is HOT but the crowds have been very manageable and we have been lucky enough to get FREE DINING. This time we must go at the end of May due to having children in school. I compared prices from September to May and it is much cheaper in September. Unfortunately we could not take the kids out of school. Have a great trip!!!

September is our favorite month to go because of the low crowds.
It is HOT and the Lovebugs can be rather bothersome (depending on the year), but having no crowds is great!!
I give September :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Stupid question...what are lovebugs? And why are they bothersome?

We're going at the end of September for the first time and I was just curious.

Love late September!
Low, low crowds....Food and Wine Festival.....nice and hot for enjoying the pools!

I like September because of the lower prices, lower crowds, the heat (yes, the heat) and also an ALMOST guaranteed promotion.

We made one trip in Mid-September 6 years ago and it was the hottest most humid I have been since leaving Southeast Asia. If you can tolerate the heat then the low crowds are worth it but you had better really REALLY like the heat and humidity.

Hi, we also enjoy late September, but a few times the Love Bugs have been out and about, but not bad in the parks. I believe they are from the fly family and can get to be 1/4" in size. They fly around together doing what two flies can do and don't bother us except they can fly around you at times. Of course I don't think anyone likes them but a couple times they were out when we were there, but not bad and mostly we had to look for them.
